New York's governer blamed Canada for the cause of the outage but our Mayor Mel Lastman answered back with, "How many time have you seen the American's take the blame for anything?"
Futurama was just never that good. Oh sure, there were were some excellent nuggets of writing there, but most of it was mired in cliche. And it couldn't really do surreality - Homer and co. have that covered, and most of the time it's very hit-and-miss anyway, and only Family Guy can get away with what it the really crazy shit (although considering its current status this is a bad example).
But, of course, the fan-boys will be fan-boys and they do have to over-react. I mean 'slashed... into bloody pieces'? 'Gruesome attack'? All they did was decide not to buy any more episodes. Please people, get a clue.
offers 12Mbps connections at $21 a month. Of course he and his company have their share of detractors, since he's shelling out $250 to acquire every new customer, which adds up to $50 million per month....compiling Softbank's $3.9 billion debt
Ahhh... so the truth comes out. I knew that these offers for cheap broadband in the Far East were too good to be true. I give this a year or two before this guy runs out of money. Either that, or I hope that Japan has some really strong anti-bait-and-switch laws.
Protecting your IP address while browsing the web is easy with programs such as Anonymizer which block your IP address. However using p2p programs anonymously is more difficult. P2P relies on people's ability to connect to your machine, and to do that they generally must know your IP Address.
There are some methods out there that attempt to address this.
Programs such as FreeNet have been around for some time that blocks the location of the traffic. However, there are easier methods than FreeNet out there to protect your identity.

SARS Contained
·
· Score: 1, Interesting
I should say that the SARS scarce has crippled our tourism economy because of all the media hype from around the world. Tourists don't even need to be worried about it because the only potential way of acquiring the disease is to be in the hospitals where the patients who have it are being quarantined.
Thankfully the city of Toronto has since been removed from the list of cities with SARS and hopefully the upcoming concert featuring the Rolling Stones will help promote our city and bring back the tourists in the masses.
The RIAA has more than a few smart lawyers in its employ. Is it possible not one of them understands the true meaning of the word theft? Not likely. No, the RIAA and its legal team are being deliberately disingenuous in order to portray file-sharing in the worst possible light. Open and free file-sharing - a truly innocuous and victimless activity - must be slandered in order for the recording industry (and the motion picture industry) to destabilize and render ineffectual the threat to monopolistic control of distribution posed by consumer empowerment and choice. Music consumers have spoken - they want to buy hit singles in MP3 format (not entire CDs filled up with "B" side music) at significantly lower prices than currently offered by the industry. Moreover, they want to preview music before purchase. Intelligent consumers no longer want the industry to dictate their buying and listening behavior.
If Rosen has some rough edges, it's not surprising, given the difficult task of leading her industry through the perils of the Internet revolution. So far, her strategy has been to fight aggressively to control Internet distribution channels through new legislation, standards for copyright protection technology and aggressive litigation.
MSN, as it turns out, is not the only newly announced pretender to Google's throne. Yahoo!, following its purchase of search engine Inktomi, recently said it would try to take back its early reputation as the Web's best search provider. And Overture's recent acquisition of the first really good Web search utility, AltaVista, gave indication that its hat is in the ring, too.
This is a lot of strange bedfellows. Google has been Yahoo's search provider, and Inktomi has been a longtime Microsoft provider. The musical chairs reinforce the notion that the act of searching isn't the key value of a search engine anymore.
The game that made me as violent as I am today would probably have to be Postal 2. Going around whacking people with shovels until they are unconsious and blood starts going everywhere while you continuously whack their lifeless dead body with the shovel until you get bored.
Good Times.
AMD's would cook them much faster than a P4 would:)

Their rating on Alexa which rates all websites traffic. Al Jazeera's rating is 444 and that is considered very good. Slashdot's Alexa rating is 1103 so that should give you a good idea of how much traffic they got on a regular basis.

I thought ThinkGeek was a close partner to Slashdot. Why would Slashdot encourage people to make one of those glow-balls and don't tell me that you can't come up with $200.
Digit Magazine has rumors of the G5 powerbook showing up in February 2004. Source

BANIA: I just stopped by to thank you. That risk management stuff you wrote for me? It's killer!
JERRY: Risk management?
BANIA: Aw, it's gold, Jerry! Gold! I got all these corporate gigs and even Cynthia took me back.

Wait until PCI-X is out and you will look back at these days and laugh. Bandwidth will be the key with PCI-X.

I ran 3DMark03 on an Intel and AMD based platform. I only have the AMD score as of right now though.
Here are my specs for the AMD rig:
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ ( 1.66GHz)
1GB Crucial PC2700 DDR333
Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB
I was able to score 2942 marks. Discuss.

Wow I really wouldn't of thought that High School Students would adjust well to Linux. I guess the teacher must be pretty good.
