Reminds me of this old joke. Probably first heard it 14 years ago (when I was 14ish)

Bill Gates, Andy Grove, & Jerry sanders (CEOs of Microsoft, Intel & AMD) were in a high-powered business meeting. During the serious, tense discussions, a beeping noise was suddenly emitted from where Bill was sitting.

Bill said : "Oh! that's my emergency beeper. Gentlemen, excuse me, I really need to take this call.: So Bill lifted his wrist-watch to his ear and began talking into the end of his tie. Having completed the call, he noticed the others were staring at him. So Bill explained : "Oh, this is my new emergency communication system. I have an earpiece built into my watch and a microphone sewn into the end of my tie. That way, I can take a call anywhere." The others nodded, and the meeting continued.

5 min later, the discussion was again interrupted when this time round, from Andy started a beeping sound. "Oh that's my emergency beeper" he said. "Excuse me gentlemen, this must be an important call." Andy tapped his earlobe and began talking into thin air. When he completed the call, he noticed the others staring at him and thus explained, "I also have an emergency communication system. But my earpiece is actually implanted in my earlobe, and the microphone is embedded in this fake tooth, isn't that neat?"

The others nodded and the meeting continue.jerry was however feeling that how technically unadvanced he is. Later still, the discussion was again interrupted when he emitted a thunderous fart. He looked up at the others staring at him and said, "Uhh, somebody get me a piece of paper..... I'm receiving a FAX."

    True story.

One time at the great wall, I was coming down and walking through the tourist trap. Saw a chairman mao watch where mao would wave to you. Thought it was cute.

The thing with tourist traps is they all sell the same stuff. Don't like one vendor, move on to another! I asked the first vendor how much it was, she says like 40 RMB. I say 25. She gets upset and tells me I'm unreasonable. I move on.
I get to the bottom of the hill and ask the vendor how much. he says 80. How about 25? He proceeds to tell me how it's leather and a wind-up, etc. Well, the lady up the hill opens at 40, so how about 30? He agrees. All that for 10 RMB (which is ~1.25US).

So there you go. Don't trust the price they give you (esp if it's at the end of the street b/c those are the first you see and tend to be the most expensive. But decide how much hassle is a dollar or 2 and the bargaining hassle. Sometimes it's just easier to not fight the price as much.

Haha FedEx it there/back. Yea, I did that once actually-using the work fedex account.

I was kept me out there for 4 months. When I went it was summer. When I came back it was snowing. I bought alot of crap (scarf, gloves, toys, etc) and had some equipment sent (terminal server, cables) out.

Southwest's policy is 3 checked in items- I had 3 bags/boxes of stuff to bring back. I could check it all in, but the box of terminal server/couple hundred feet of cables was really bulky and would be a pain to carry from the rental car to airport checkin-so I fedexed it. Now, what to do with my 3rd item credit? So I checked in a small box with an ice scraper and coat hanger in it. Hope I gave some bag screener a laugh over that.

Fedexing the bulky box 2500 miles overnight turned out to be like 10 bucks. Heak, if I'm sent out there for months again, I'm going to fedex everything except the laptop and myself (on their dime).
