I'll buy it if it works with Cingular. I'm thinking about buying some black turtlenecks also. Naming my cat "Steve", getting an Apple tattoo on my arm, and building a shrine to Steve Jobs are all starting to sound like good Ideas as well... Maybe I should turn off my Apple, I'm starting to feel rather "cultish".
Their hopes of finding jobs of the 21st century are alright, it will be a tough fight though. Wal-Mart isn't hiring that many new stockers and cashiers right now. Taco Bell and Burger King might be a good place to start looking. As for a good paying job to replace the one they lost... Forget about it. Welcome to the new American Dream, you will be satisfied with less, you don't have a choice.
It's clearly swamp gas being reflected off of a lower thermal atmospheric level, illuminated by Mars. There is nothing to see here, move along. The only real thing I can think of is that it is something in front of the camera that is small and out of focus. Maybe a spider hanging on to a balloon web floating by in front of the camera.
I have to agree with you, even the trailers made me sleepy. I bet there isn't a single person alive who could take all seven hours of that film without taking a nap.
It directs me to 400 Chinese porn sites? Excellent, that will save some time. Damn! I just remembered, I don't have messenger 'cause I'm on a Mac, I'll have to go back to typing in my porn sites by hand again.. by one hand...
Knoppix is the best distro for newbies and laptop users, I used Mandrake 9.1 and it crashed almost every time on logout, Knoppix, booted from hard drive, did everything right and automatically set up my wifi card. Still, I might try it out.
The oldest thing I am still running is an NEC Ready series computer that I got back in 96, it has a Intel 133 processor an upgraded 4 gig hard drive. It's got a pretty sweet 8x cdrom drive. Every now and then I'll bust out the Apple IIGS to play Beyond Zork and Wings of Fury.
this poll had one "we like MS" option and three "we hate MS" options, this poll was loaded and shouldn't have even made slashdot. Unless slashdot just hates Microsoft and will post anything negative about them.
I'm sure that site has already been registered as a porn site, it seems the only people who would have had anything to lose in this case would be the porn sites, they take all the misspelled words and wrong domain names and take them as their own. Whitehouse.com? Homestarunner.com?
Lowering the prices of Macs and porting the OS over to x86. I can buy a Dell with hyperthreading and a DVD burner for less than I can get a Powerbook, that makes me sad. If they had ported Mac OS X I would have bought it along time ago, it would have saved me all this time trying to figure out how to keep RedHat from crashing. I could have been happy...
From the article he makes Ben Franlkin sound like some sort of savior who could come foreward from the past and save us all. Bringing the scientists in congress together in a bipartisan manner to discuss science and technology... How many scientists are there in congress? And how likely is it that they could actually sit down and work together on anything, especially technology (They would simply fight over which states got which grants for scientific study) Town hall meetings all across american to bring up important issues... Guess this guy never read "Bowling Alone" all about Americans lack of interest and involvement in all things ranging from bowling leagues to the PTA to politics, The author creates a way oversimplified view of politics and of Ben Franklin.
in other news, beer good, fire bad. Did we really need a new article to tell us that Ben Franklin might have been a good scientist... Sounds like this magazine has run out of things to report on.
"this is the birth of a whole new water sport that will change the direction of the watercraft industry the way the snowboard changed skiing."
I'm sold, where do I get one?
I want a notebook computer that is small and light and portable, the iBook got it right with it's 12 inch screen. this trend, started by apple with it's 17 inch screens, seems to go against the very purpose of a portable computer... to be small and light. If I want a big screen to watch movies on then I'll sit my butt at home and watch them on the TV.
I use mine all the time for taking notes with a fold up keyboard in college, I have a flashcard program so I can study while at work, and I can download E-books for free. While the e-book thing may seem small, the books I need for Poli Sci are in ebook form for free, and that saves me about 60 dollars a semester. I also use it for the obvious contact information and alarm clock.
I'd be more than happy if someone could just port the palm desktop over to the pc, it has the simplest interface I have ever seen. If you ask my opinion, and no one has yet, that is the way to go.
By this guys standards the dumber you are the more popular you are. I've known lots of popular people who do well in school, and I've known lots of unpopular kids who were just plain dumb. This article reminds me of the stuff Jon Katz used to write.

It didn't seem to work under Lynx... I don't really use that browser, but I'm just saying it doesn't affect ALL browsers.

I'd rather pay the 99 cents and get it off iTunes, besides... I don't touch anything with "special sauce".
2 gigs would be pretty nice on a pda if you used it to play mp3s.

Dell surrenders

I pick my cars based on number of cupholders.

I didn't know you could have a state-imposed monopoly on free stuff. I wonder who funds this group...
What about Mame and http://www.classicgaming.com ? That's pretty free...
If it can shoot down missiles maybe we should use it to shoot down enemy fighters and bombers as well?
