What's funny to me is the warm-fuzzy the nonparenting parents out there are going to get when they register their childrens' one and only email addresses with this. With the country finally turning towards parents to actually do some parenting, isn't this just the solution they need?

"Why, my little Amy can't use myspace... I've registered mylittlepumpkin@hotmail.com with them. What? No, I don't think mylittlepumpkin1@hotmail.com is her.... mylittlepumpkin2@hotmail.com? Can't be."

Of course, no senator would want to vote himself/herself out of cushy retirement and a cushy job, so I suppose I would have to release the flying monkeys as enforcers. More likely, though, is the notion of nobody voting me in.

  8. Re:A bad boss... on How to Survive a Bad Boss · · Score: 1

    I tend not to agree.

As a contractor (I'm fulltime now) I had all sorts of bad bosses. One in particular used to pick on anyone who disagreed with him, and try to rally the rest of the team on his side and against said employee. It got to the point where the disagreer wasn't invited to the group lunches, and just made very uncomfortable.

This guy would rather ruin someones career as well, rather than fire or transfer them out. At one point, I was the target, even though I'd seen the cause/result relationship (I've always been the tell-you-what-I-think-rather-than-what-you-want-to -hear type). That actually gave me more time to work on the problems at hand. When the project was finished, I left the software more manageable, faster, and more solid than when I got there.

Another example was the boss who brought me on contract-to-hire, only there was never really a hire. She strung me along, while her two fulltime programmers did absolutely nothing all day. When I spent two months rewriting the application that calculated fulltime employee bonuses at the end of the year, I decided my plan there.

At the beginning of the following year, I asked her one more time about the full-time position, and she continued along the "I'm working on it" line. So I waited until she began her conversion from a working HR system to SAP-HR, and walked out the door.... being not only her only qualified programmer, but the only one on her team that understood the data in the legacy system and the conversions that would be necessary.

Shitty of me? Yes. Did it make me feel a little better? Also yes.

Nice find there... the spin in the titled was evidently used to try to incite the usual slashdot emotions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a boycott, and I applaud them for using that route rather than a ban, as the title suggested. Excellent use of their first amendment rights. I don't, however, believe games such as this make for violent children, or "numb" them to the idea that killing people is ok. Now, as I log out of SWG, I'll be grabbing my lightsaber and taking out anyone without an imperial emblem on their chest that I come across.

This isn't a final rejection, and certainly isn't as serious as the AppleInsider article makes it sound.
But Platt's playlist application also has a rejection history. It received an NFR on 17 November 2002, and a more serious Final Rejection on 14 June 2004. After further documentation was received, and extension granted, the application received another NFR on 11 December last year.

I don't know that it jeopardizes Apple in any way, but not only is it actually a final rejection, it's not their first final rejection (whatever that means).
