i actually bought a pair of these from a gag shop a few years back because i'd been curious... works ok, but obviously not something you'd want to spend money on:)
... as a school which has just started a laptop program.
From what I can tell, it's the teachers who are most worried about becoming "unpaid SysAdmins and content censors" , when in reality the computers are there to blend with classic teaching styles.
The trick is NOT to sit the students in front of a computer & get it to do the teaching for you, but to use it as an extra tool to enhance the learning experience. This also means that, even with a "laptop program" in a school, you're never required to use computers ALL the time. Those teachers who don't understand the difference are the ones who need to be retrained.
In response to a rumor that Lew Morton is not a real person, Paul Simms responded with:
"No, Lew Morton is a real writer, but often the episodes on which he gets a "Written By" credit aren't very good ones. It's probably just a coincidence."
now THAT was a creepy game... I think it had a lot to do with the fact that you NEEDED to sneak around to survive... & they played the atmosphere for all it was worth
Now, that's just about the same time period the sales figures from Take Two are referring to, which means that almost everyone that bought a PS2 bought Vice City! Cool!
Also, according to Sony, they've sold 41 Million PS2s.:)
I think that maybe your logic is a bit flawed... it's highly unlikely that all the sales of Vice City were for PS2s bought in the same period.
Personally I think think they should get some sort of moderation system up ASAP... there are a lot of people out there who just like to break things for the fun of it.
Does anyone know how they make sure all the submissions are accurate?
from their FAQs... Since anyone can edit any page, why would I give any credence to anything I read here?
We operate on the idea that many eyeballs make all errors shallow. Wikipedia is, self-consciously, an experiment in public collaboration quite unlike any print or online encyclopedia, and therefore it will be difficult to project the results, in terms of their credibility, until the project is farther along. But even then, you'll have to judge the results based on the articles themselves, rather than the credentials of their writers (which is itself often an unreliable way to determine credibility).
Some people think Wikipedia will give Britannica a run for its money. m:Making fun of Britannica.
Some people have plans for peer review or article certification systems to work on top of Wikipedia. We'll be sure to point them out if and when any get up and running.
This isn't a release of Duke Nukem Forever, just an updated Duke 3d for Xbox 360...
(As I am sure many posts will correct)
A Wikipedia search came up with this...
It's the thing the Sci-Fi channel is on! And you call yourself a slashdotter...
Ooooh... They're going to start advertising on Bittorrent?
Ack_OZ
I wonder if Goatse is offtopic today. I don't think it would significantly add to the pain...

It was as if a million acks cried out at once and were suddenly silenced.

Strange. I've heard that `Lew Morton' is a fake name which writers use to sign material which is so bad that they don't want to take credit for it.

A few months ago i figured out that hard drives have doubled in size every 12 months as opposed to processor power doubling every 18 months.
yes, i've come to a similar conclusion & it seems to me that even software bloat can't keep up with that speed...
I'm going completely from memory at the moment, but some of my figures may be out...
... full install was around 70MB (about 7% of HDD space)
...
/me prepares to be proven wrong, but it was an interesting flow of thought to me anyway :)
back in 1995, I bought a 1GB HDD for about AU$600
which is around the same price of a 250GB HDD now...
now, take windows 95
Duke Nukem 3D full install was about 50MB (about 5% of HDD space)
the modern day equivalents would be an O/S filling 17.5GB & modern games filling 12.5GB
it seems to me that hard drives have been far outstripping bloat for quite a few years now, surely it has to slow down soon?
now THAT was a creepy game... I think it had a lot to do with the fact that you NEEDED to sneak around to survive... & they played the atmosphere for all it was worth
surreal movie... but very entertaining
...
It's up the top of my list of "introduce it to people & see how they react" type movies
so if it doesn't work for anyone, they probably just need to upgrade DivX to the latest version.
either that, or wait until the slashdotting is over...

And 100% of users who post that same old joke again should be shot on the spot.
