First of all, I'm Irish. Should the election in the U.S be any of my business? I have no idea, but I stayed up all night watching it? Me - who questions whether television is really an objective media anymore. I haven't watched a single shred of coverage of the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan to now out of disgust. The wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time is of no interest to me. Of course in Ireland, our news sources have less bias and my election coverage was provided by Sky News mainly, with a little CNBC, and the BBC.
Obviously I don't have a vote in America (maybe I should!) but in my heart I have always felt like a Democrat. In fact, watching Kerry and Edwards up there, I felt inspired by their hopes and ambitions. I know they are good people. I had already done my homework on the electoral college system and didn't panic when I saw the early wave of red states fill acrooss the Eastern seaboard of America. I stayed up all night / day through every time zone from the East to Hawaii!. Incidentally I had the following day off work so when daylight burned my eyes in the morning I didn't feel too bad. I knew the Democrats were fighting an almost impossible battle. Bush was so far ahead, in pre-election polls but I had taken heart from the late revival for the Democrats in several key states.
I have only ever been to one US state in my life - Illinois - I have first cousins in Chicago (Irish Americans) who voted Democrat as far as I know. They had expressed a favour for the Democrats last time I spoke with them and I was proud to see that state 'turn blue' on the night. I have to admit that I was pessimistic whether the Democrats would even put up a fight against Bush but they sure did. I felt my heart warm with pride as the gap closed on the Republicans. I'm not anti-Bush or anything. I think Bush is a nice man who had no interest in politics initially, but who has been manipulated into being a leader by immoral people. He also has the distasteful legacy of being the son of a 1-term former president. I believe the Republican party in America have nothing in common with the parties of Ireland and indeed Europe. I expect there are more people in Califormia or Washington state that have things in common with me than they do with someone in Texas or somewhere, but I hope that can change in 4 years. My heart goes out to Democrat supporters in Texas,or Indiana or anywhere Republicans reigned.I think the Republicans would sell every one of your souls for votes. I was horrified by the way the media and intimidation in general was a critical part of your election. But thats another discussion...
I feel that the Democratic party is much more in line with the ideals of the democracies of Europe, and so I was so proud to see the huge turnout of people voting Democrat. Of course the Republican spin is that no president in US history has has such a turnout, but I think if you do the Math(s) you will find that America's population has increased allot since Vietnam, the Democratic turnout was also huge, and the 'dirty' tactics used to coerce people to vote was also a factor. When John Kerry stood up on that podium and said he wanted to wrap his arms around all of the Democratic supporters around the country, I felt the same way. I am in Ireland, so many thousands of miles away, but I feel like you are my brothers (if you are still with me). I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster watching events unfold.
My real fear is that some of you may be thinking of giving up. Your country is divided but this does not mean its now time to sell your principles. You can still move forward with your Republican counterparts without selling out. It might sound stupid but I think it couldn't have worked out better for the Democrats. Why?
Im sure my last sentance sounded naiive, but think about it. Did you really want to make a martyr out if Ge
Im living in Ireland, and I have yet to meet a single person who would waist theor spit on that tosser Bush - he's not fit to be the commander in chief of a playschool. He graduated as a cheerleader and thats all he really is - well done Americans!!
Cthulhu or Nader would be my choices but Kerry wil do - at least he's grown up - he's not a masturbator.

Well no reason for me. You are right- there are many alternatives - but Im not enough of a H/W geek to bother inconveniencing myself. I use Slack 10.0 on an Athlon 64 - x86 mode but I have the oprion to use x86-64 if I want
Nothing new here folks. Nature has already invented an invisible layer for us - the one we wear - part of our skon (the epidermis I think - correct me) is transparent..
Why plant a shitty M* licence on the side of your car if can have Linux running it. I wouldnt want to wrap my car arount a pole because of a blue screen "of death" (- Whole new meaning) either would I!! ??:)
Haha - at least you see the funny side of it. I didn't count on it. I think you should ask me how satisfied I am with my sex life. I can then start lieing to you..
It is nice to see you are an informed voter - credit to you. Spread it!
When are you guys going to elect a 3rd party candidate??
Re my comments: I will denegrade your precious Republicans if I think I can convince people that Irish people in general, and indeed people around the world dislike the Republican administration. I just hope G.W. can't worm his way out of this one.
Vote John Kerry (or at least Cthulhu - the lesser of 2 evils!!!) - www.cthulho.org
(John Kerry and Bill Clinton both have done this many times, in case you were thinking of somehow blaming them.)
I dont think he was blaming them. I read his link. I think he was just making the point (that any remotely intelligent person already knows) - that Bush is a filthy liar. Kerry of course passed many bills in the senate. Ignore Bush's nonsense. And yes, any bills that were not passed were often as a direct result of Republican pig-headedness, using their malicious nature to block legitimate and often heart-felt bills.
Im Irish and its none of my business who you guys vote for but well, if it wasa contest between a parrot and Bush... well "I for one would like welcome our new parrot overlord..."
I went for the slightly more expensive Athlon64 s754 3000+ - maybe not better value than a Sempron, but blows a celeron away in every department, specially since its running with a s-ata disk and 800mhz via K8T800 chipset. AMD are far superior at the moment. I get 50 mb/s out of my s-ata on Slackware 10.0!!
social software', which is now used to define software that supports group interaction, has only become relatively popular within the last two or more years...what about software to collaberate our lives as well - not just our software endeavoures?
Think of the changes that could happen if the philosophy of free software spread into all other industries, services etc...
I am a very moral person with a strict code of ethics... that can be purchased for a price when working.. Sorry my friend but thats just plain laughable, and indeed I WOULD mod you as such, if I had any available mod points at the moment. Be carefull or you risk becomming a subset of what is 'everything thats wrong with the world'. And don't even think about calling it a misinterpretation of your words. How can you misinterpret that!. You killed off your inner child along time ago...
It's spelled feasible and yes it stands to reason that the completely unfeasible unsustainable Republicans would not know how to spell it.

'This is all very experimental and ground-breaking - communism - destroy it..'
