Obviously the lawmakers in the UK are not very smart about the financial impact of this decision. It would be so much more cost effective to simply enable people who were spammed to shoot the spammer (cost of bullet and cleaning materials to be paid by spamee).
Amusing, you've managed to post the SAME EXACT POST only a bit earlier in this discussion and you get modded up for both of them. Someone mod this karma whore's second identical post down. Nice try karma whore.
" I'm quite red-green color blind. Why the fucking hell must we use color codes for such *important* classifications."
As much as I feel bad for your impairment, as my dad suffers the same thing, I do have issue with the fact that just because its not convenient for you, you feel that they should change it. Guess what, color works for the vast majority of people. If another system were more effective, perhaps they'd use it.
"people think they are performance mods because it may give you a couple horse at 20 thousand RPM haha"
Regardless of the technicalities of the type of mod it is, CAI helps your car breathe better. You wouldn't want to be using some of the more powerful mods (slappin in a snail for example) because it would simply cause internal stress if your car couldn't breathe well enough.
" 99.9% of ricers don't do their own mods, well, performance mods anyway, unless you count seat belt covers and stickers as performance mods. No, installing some quasi-performance cold air intake with duct tape and a gallon of permatex is not really a performance mod."
I wasn't referring to whether or not they did their own mods. Aside from the obvious lame ones...ie. 50 stickers and a huge spoiler, what is wrong with a good cold air intake? It's a good performance piece that helps the car breathe so it can better handle additional HP.
Also, what really pisses me off is that people look down on people who get their mods installed by a shop. I'm sorry, I don't have the time nor desire to do all the grease monkey work myself. I do have money I worked hard for, and a desire to have a nicer car. So whats wrong with that?
" That may happen if the 4 banger happens to be in a Subaru WRX, but in anything else, not without $10K in parts, tuning, and strong tailwind."
I had a video on my comp a while ago of a hatchback civic dusting a Viper. I'm not saying it didn't have a lot of money sunk into it, but still, you can get some nice HP gains out of a turbo, intake/exhaust, spark plugs, intercooler, NoS etc.
From the article: "and the Universal Media Disc was confirmed to have sophisticated piracy measures, as well as a parental lock system."
So......I give it a week before it's compromised. Any other guesses? Seriously, Sony's hardware/software is a LOT easier to mess when compared to M$. 1 week, tops.
" Seriosly, i have no problem with tricked out cars, but riding around in a toyota carolla with the gold package does not make you cool. Neiter does revving the 4 cylinder engine and squealing the tires in the parking lot."
Your distasteful comment just proves how you know absolutley NOTHING about low-rider culture. If you think people are dropping their corolla's and hooking em up with hydrolics, you're sadly mistaken. It is usually American cars actually. And older classic ones....like impala's. The corolla's are more reserved for the import mod scene.
And while nothing is cool about a corolla with a gold package, revving a 4 banger after you've done some work on it can be a lot more fun than you think. Especially when that 4 banger dusts the 5.0 mustang next to you at the light. Don't make ignorant comments about a scene you know nothing about just because you feel that it is not "cool", for it is not your place to judge.
What I want is to cover all the walls of my crappy little dorm room with it. How cool would it be to transform your room into a beach. Even cooler would be that it could be animated! I could sit back and watch the waves crash on the shore. Or, if for some reason a female were to come over, I could transform my room into the ultimate bachelor pad simply by changing the display program.
If this were advanced sufficiently, I could then even play bf1942 on this once I realized said female was imaginary and never came over in the first place.
If I had a company with a janitor on the payroll....I'd have to pony up $100 to Sun for him because he's an employee? No thanks. At least they're not shooting themselves in the foot because they're still offering their old pricing plan.
Imagine though if you would a game where your mood and thoughts CAN control the game. For instance, in order to cast certain spells you have to be in X mood. Or to do special move Y you need to be feeling Z amount of rage.
Personally, if they took the newage crap out of this, it could make for a bitchin Samurai game, similar to Kengo: Master of Bushido for the PS2. You have to do training exercises, such as crouch under a waterfall, or go through a bamboo forest cutting down all the trees, or putting out candles with your sword.
" I haven't seen either but the Everquest one doesn't sound too bad."
Well, you'd quickly change your tune after you saw it. It stank of corporate cheese. The impression I got after it was (and I preface this by telling you that I work in advertising) was "hey, a bunch of people got together, thought up a bunch of stereotypes for the type of people they WISH would buy their game, instead of the people who currently do buy it, and will do so anyway." And to anybody who is actually a gamer, to listen to the dialogue used was embarrassing. Hell, it made me feel cooler than the businessman or the hot skater girl.
The people who made this ad had no clue what their target audience was. They shot for a desired target audience, but in reality thats not the best choice for them.
No, he shouldn't. The RX7 r2 twin turbo is one of the nicest street legal sports cars ever. Aside from its incredibly sleek lines, this car had perfect 50/50 weight distribution and handled like a dream on the track. The rotary engine was a work of art. Super efficient at cranking out the ponies. So efficient in fact that the engine tended to well......blow up after a little while.
And thus was the downfall of the RX7. Although, rumor has it that mazda is bringing back the RX7 in all its glory since the performance of the RX8 isn't close to the old RX7.
" And if MS DIDN'T patch the XBOX automatically, you'd have the same people calling for the heads of everyone at MS for having an insecure product.
No matter what, MS is bad to a lot of people."
Frost is looking to make Freenet more useable. Although from having never used Freenet and looking at the Frost screenshots it STILL makes me think "WTF is this and how do I get to the pr0n.....errrr...content".

"I read the rest of the text correctly, but I had a devil of a time figuring out the reference to the Miyazaki film Spirited Away, also known as Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi !"
Interesting you should mention Spirited Away. The main character, Chihiro magically has characters stripped from her name in the movie and her name becomes simply 'Sen'. In japanese and chinese, the kanji have different meanings on their own than when they are in different groupings.
I would be fascinated to see how this story would relate to symbolic alphabets like kanji. The hiragana and katakana probably could work similar to the english version of this because they are phonetic, but I doubt the kanji would.
So let me get this straight.....If I own http://www.hardtospelldomain.com, and someone mispells it, Verisign now has the opportunity to offer up the highest bidders site for redirects? Even potential competitors? Perhaps I'm missing something here, but wouldn't this open them to all kinds of lawsuits from companies that were affected in that way?
I wonder how much of this is about control over what people buy. I also wonder if Hollywood has as much to worry as the RIAA when it comes to that. Music is something that is fairly easy to produce, especially compared to movies. And almost always a helluva lot cheaper.
One of the big things the RIAA doesn't like about P2P is not just piracy, but that you can listen to music other than what they want to sell you. Is there that big of a risk with Hollywood? We're not at a point yet where the everyday Joe is cranking out Hollywood blockbusters. I suspect we'll have a problem when he can do that though. It will most likely be about the same time HD space and bandwidth increase enough to make pirating DVDs more feasible.
" Because I haven't allowed myself to be marketed to by the major labels or Viacom's television network or magazines, and I pick up stuff based on what I like, not what I am told to like."
As someone who is studying marketing and advertising, and has worked at an ad agency, I can tell you that you're as susceptible as the next person. Think you found the music on your own, and that it wasn't marketed towards you? Good. Keep thinking that.

Yes, yes it does. I could beat one too. In my '86 Jeep Wagoneer Ltd. for that matter. Know how? Its very simple.
Race starts.....I jerk my wheel to the left (or right depending on what side the bike is on) and accelerate.
Game. Set. Squish.
And the problem is........

It's exactly what our research tells us you like.
