I don't know about your cable company specifically, but when I had digital cabe, here is what I did: right where the cable comes out of the wall, I put a splitter. From the splitter, one length of CATV went directly to the digital cable box, then to TiVo, then to the TV Input #1. The cable TV box was controlled exclusively by the TiVo using those "IR Blaster" wires that come with the TiVo and get taped over your cable box's remote control sensors. From the splitter at the wall, the other cable went directly to the TV Input #2 -- so that if TiVo was recording something from digital cable, I would just use the input selector on the TV to change to the other input. Presto, problem solved. Hope this helps!
It's about time Tivo service was available for high-definition... now if it could only sort my groups without those stupid duplicate entries... or do a season pass for all channels a show appears on.
Why did they wait until NOW to apologize? So that the apology would be fresh in people's minds as they go out to purchase a new tax-prep application? Hmmm, I think their timing is self-serving and the apology a lot of baloney. If they meant it they could have issued this many months ago.
The arcade Rygar was an endlessly-repetetive side-scrolling shooter; rather boring.
The NES Rygar was one of the quite amazing games for the system. It was an action-adventure game with an excellent musical score that combined side-scrolling and top-down levels that could be explored with a great deal of freedom on the player's part. Very cool and still worth checking out.

This law will be quickly struck down as unconstitutional. It not only violates free speech, with the outright ban, but also violates the interstate commerce clause of the Constitution which gives the authority to regulate such to the federal government alone.
Hmmm, never eat and sleep all day! After all, why worry about death when you can be the equivalent of dead today?
hehe, i'm going out for wheat pancakes and syrup. mmmmm, syrup.
Research also shows that eggs are bad for you.. no wait, make that good. Wait, here is a new study....
Who knows what to believe half the time? A low-calorie diet is good if you need to lose weight, plain and simple. Otherwise, eat the amount of calories you need to maintain your weight. It's not an exact science, but if you avoid the junk food and make half an effort to eat sensibly, there shouldn't be much to worry about.
Has anyone wondered why it is necessary for ISPs to keep such detailed records of everyone's connection activity in the first place? Hmmm?
Think librarians shredding records to avoid Patriot Act --- apply to this situation.
> In the beginning of Christianity there was no Bible, but still Christianity managed to spread like wildfire.
Nonsense: this is pure mythology. The Christian church grew painfully slowly. In fact, the whole religion is plagiarized from older sources. There WAS NO JESUS.
See this article.
Chrisitanity's Jesus and Satan are merely more recent versions of the ancient Egyptian gods Horus and Seth, respectively. One as god's sun/son, the "light of the world", the other representing darkness. So, Seth is THE best choice of a name for a dark overlord, if you know your history. For more information, view the EXCELLENT video The Naked Truth featuring Jordan Maxwell.
Why not post the article in a graphical format rather than as plain text? Make it accessible only to those who have watched the ad through some sort of website security system (so it can't be accessed by merely pointing one's browser to a certain URL). While such a file could still be saved and forwarded, most people would not go through the trouble, and would have a few extra minutes to think about it first even if they were going to. It would prevent it from being easily copied wholesale onto Slashdot. The only downside is that it would take slightly longer to load for those on dial-up connections, and users of text-based systems (all 5 of them) would not be able to view the article. This approach could make sure the thousands of Slashdot readers actually visit the Salon site itself and view the ads, or actually pay!
An easy solution would be to have a separate section for unsigned musicians. This would make it clear to paying customers whether they are shopping "mainstream" music or as-yet-unheard-of bands.
I somehow doubt Apple would have any problems storing a few thousand CD's even if they didn't sell too well... many people I know have that many on their personal hard drives thanks to P2P apps. Remember, Apple isn't selling CD images, they're selling compressed formats.
Try several dollars per used book sold via Amazon's system. If I recall correctly, I believe Amazon's profit margins are a good deal higher on used book sales that they process than on new books they sell themselves.
Benito Mussolini (sp?) said that fascism was the merger of state and corporate power. This desribes America today: we're well along the way, and probably past the point of no return. The Newspeak for this phenomenon in the modern U.S.A. is "public-private partnerships," among other equally revolting terms. It is the reason why you won't see genetically modified foods carry mandatory labelling in this country. It is the reason why in my home of NJ that the penalties for driving without insurance are double that of driving drunk. And it's the reason why soon you won't even be able to buy effective over the counter vitamins -- who needs vitamins, anyway? We've got the big pharmaceuticals to sell us expensive chemicals when we get sick.
It should be required that machines use open-source code, and some mechanism be provided for public inspection of the machines to verify the code hasn't been altered, some sort of checksum mechanism.

Jesus is a solar myth. God's sun, the "light of the world" who "cometh on clouds and every eye shall see him." See this page.

You may have "turned off" Intel's CPU serial number, but that doesn't mean it really IS off.
No, no, it's 1.21 Jiggawatts. That's a lot of MP3s, if your Flux capacitor is tuned correctly.
It's called Amazon.com. They let regular users sell used books in exchange for a commission.
Here is a paper discussing the idea that computer code is a form of speech.

Serves Nvidia right for good Linux support. :/
