Are you a lawyer or what?
No, just a pro-bono devil's advocate. and i would think that the press could be held liable, but that wasn't my issue, and why i titled my response DoS. liable implies defamation, and that's obviously not my concern. but when someone publishes information irresponsibly and it leads to lost business or lost resources there's usually a decent amount of ground to stand for.
It happens more often than most people know. Since 1998, Earth has experienced "about 10 similar ionization events," says Umran Inan of Stanford University. "Five of them were caused by SGR 1900+14, and the rest from unknown sources."
heh, missed it, read it again, missed it again. read it again, and uh, same story, other than right below the by line, and in the italicized bit above there is no mention of anything in 2003 in that article. sorry.
So many people on this thread make it sound like they're moving to canada so they can share mp3's. Sorry, but i think you're getting your priorities a bit out of wack if you're willing to up and move over laws that create nothing more than inconvienience. shit, what happens when Canada renounces rights to P2P networkers as well? Move to Greenland? Hell, go for it.
is the usa's poor showing based on lack of broadband appeal? or greater geographic diversity. mnay folks i know who are in an area that provides broadband access do not really want it. while others who crave it have no real cost efficient way of subscribing to it.
Barry's tactics are equal to a DoS. The ATA has every right to question the legislation, as long as they remain within the letter of the law. Did Barry know what publishing that telephone number would do? I'm sure. Why does the press leave that information out of their media coverage? To prevent being held liable for this type of attack.
"Nasa has a story about a solar flare on Aug. 27 that affected our planet with radio bounces and blackouts - but it wasn't from old Sol, it was from SGR 1900+14, a neutron star about 45,000 light years away. "
So the real story is that there is going to be a new linux distribution, with a lot of time, resources put into it. How is that any different than any of the larger American or Euro distributions? It was sactioned by the government?
MS shouldn't even worry - new linux distributions take the majority of their new users from other linux distributions.
This is the first positive the record industry has done in years to combat file sharing. Really. I'll download a couple songs to see if i want to buy a cd. a lower price is going to be a heavy factor in my decision making. if a disc is $10 or less, i'll buy it, a lot of times site unseen (or unheard) if someone has reccommended it to me. $17? nah, i better listen to a few on the tracks first.
Video games are never going to be as popular as films or music unless the people who make them concentrate on making them fun, says a leading game expert.

Fuel Cell Laptop Batteries are so Passe... What I'm waiting for next year is the Sony Vaio Car.
Picture a Purple Honda Prelude ('98-01 body style) with a body kit, and tons of bling*bling. Twenty inch chrome rims, and of course Sony Xplod stereo equipment, complete with MagicGate Memory Stick.
Actually, the Memory Stick will be your key. MagicKey.
Performance? You ask? Sure it performs, it's a sony! Any better than the competition? Of course! Better than SOME! Is the the best? HECK NO! Do people think it is? FOR SURE! Price? About $10K above the competition!
and in other news today, in great britian children dressed as plumbers in overalls and caps ate "magic mushrooms" that they claim made them grow. The also children claim they were chased by winged turtles and lifesized bullets. No comment, however, on allegations that a certain neighbor, Mr. Greg "King Koopa" Cooper had anything to do with the childrens activities or stories.
This just in... This idea was REMed into the 2.6 kernel, and SCO is filing charges that they already had dibbs on the naming of the Universe. Tune in at 11 for full details.
Why not just auction the rights to name the crap off to the highest bidders? Just like our sports arenas. Why not have the IBM moon? How about the McDonalds Asteroid belt? Planet Coca Cola? CapitalOne "No Asshole" Uranus?
"currently only fake passenger data was being used."

Give me ogg vorbis and I'll consider it! Slowly migrating that way, so I'm not going to purchase something unless it has the support.

SCO in the ropes already? This article sounds like Custer's Last Stand for them.
It's great that the links in the article don't even work. How's that for irony?

Linus put this in perspective. This is a great article for the novice to read, if you're unfamiliar with this whole SCO mess.
