$50 is quite an exaggeration, since the remote has been $30 since it's been available. And I know plenty of people that didn't buy standalone DVD players, because their Xbox or PS2 played them (myself included), especially in 2001.
was the "lost levels" version ever released as a stand-alone game?
It was standalone in Japan, as Mario 2. Mario 2 was originally developed to be another game and they just stuck the Nintendo characters in there. They used that game because Lost Levels was too hard for Americans.
What about Grand Theft Auto 3/VC/SA? To complete the story missions it's typically 20-30 hours and to get 100% it can be hundreds, and yet they're still endlessly replayable...
Perhaps someday hardcore fans of books turned into movies will realize that movies are a different medium. I personally liked both Starship Troopers and I Robot for what they were, and I also liked the books. I will concede, though, that sometimes they would do well to change the title when they make the movie.
Agreed.
In addition, typing on a keyboard requires no rhythm or tempo at all, and you can hit any key at any time (maybe if typing on the keyboard required your left hand to keep a rhythm and your right hand to simultaneously play melodies in the correct key...) And on a piano, your hands, fingers, arms, and feet are involved, whereas on a keyboard it's merely your fingers.
And to the rest of the people grilling this guy for just playing someone else's music.. I'm sure there isn't a complete piano tab available for every song he plays, so he must have had to figure out a lot of the songs himself, which still requires some musical talent.

I personally think Sony's DualShock controllers have THE best directional pad ever created. Any other D-pad is usually one piece of plastic and when you try to move in one direction, you inevitably end up hitting another direction as well. The separation between the D-pad buttons on Sony controllers makes them the most accurate pads, and the most loved by all the gamers I've talked to.
Firefox with two tabs: 49,532K Opera with two tabs: 20,188K Opera with 13 tabs: 31,780K
I think it just has to do with how long Firefox has been open, being that I just opened 10 tabs all in different websites and it only got up to 32000K. Or it could be that the browsers take up less space when minimized, and Opera was minimized at the time. I don't know, but personally I'd say: Opera's interface: bloated/cluttered, Firefox's interface: usable/perfect
Meanwhile, AOL continues its plan to weed out all the good software under its corporate roof, and employ more people to "optimize" (9.0) America Online software. Maybe AOL's feeling a little bloated, and it's time for them to unbutton the proverbial pants (whatever that means).
Other than the 1000MB of storage, or not having a javascript browser available (might be time for those of you on lynx to upgrade;-), I don't see why anyone with Gmail would want POP3 access. I think most of what makes Gmail so great is the slick, minimal, yet INCREDIBLY full-featured (and with nothing you don't need) web interface.
He wasn't denying that LCDs could run at those resolutions, nor was he implying that ghosting occurs at those resoultions.
The point he was getting at, which is true, is that LCDs look absolutely horrible if not at their native resolution. They sure can display it, but to me, it's not worth the slimness when I can only see 1280x1024 clearly. I'd rather pay around 200 for a really nice ViewSonic 19" CRT that does max around 1700x1300, and looks crisp at all resolutions (and can do 100 or 85 hz at most of them).
And yes, I have seen LCDs lately, a friend of mine has a $600 NEC LCD he bought new about 2 months ago, with native/max res. of 1280x1024, and he can't admit that it looks horrible at other resolutions because he spent so much on it:(
I must admit, composite and S-video inputs would be nice though;)
Interesting. I'll have to try that out with more games, I hate moving my damn arm to put in a damn CD when I just want to play the damn game. I usually just download a no-cd crack, but then I have to worry about online compatibility, and getting a new no-cd when patches come out.
It may be true that many CD check systems require Administrative rights to run, but apparently not for Doom 3. I created a limited user account in Windows XP and it still required the correct CD to start Doom 3.
By the way, I don't think it's a lack of root access on Linux that was stopping CD checking, there's probably just no CD checking implemented. Id seems cool that way.
On a side note, one of the reasons I love Linux is because typically it, and the software written for it, is devoid of bitchy-ass shit like CD checking (and I use such language because the game isn't even using files from the CD, we have plenty of HD space nowadays).
335 megs usage without running a game? Even after an uptime of several days, when idling, I'm at about 150 megs.
To answer your question, right-click My Computer, and go into Properties. Go into the Advanced tab, and in the Performance section, hit Settings. Go into the Advanced tab again, and under the Virtual Memory section, hit Change. Choose the appropriate partition and you can either set the paging file's min and max size, or choose No Paging File. In my experience, Windows does not undo what settings you've applied.
If you still want a swap file (I know Photoshop bitches at you if you don't have one, and it says you reap no Photoshop performance benefit from having none), there is a registry setting that minimizes usage of the swap file, at least with core Windows stuff.

World 5, level 3 to be exact. Watch out for the hammer bros. in the overworld, they walk all over the shoe level (kind of ironic, no?)

Ever watched pornography? ;)
Ever tried Metroid Prime 1 or 2? I can't imagine a kid playing those and appreciating them, and they're some of the best games ever made.

The best part is that they could have, with more ease than using Flash, used a Javascript mouse-over and gotten the exact same functionality.

I love Google.
What flavor is the juice? I could really go for some OJ...
they seem to be having better and better ideas all the time...
Keyhole has been around for years, Google just recently bought them. I remember using the software about a year ago when it was just Keyhole.

I like xmms and all, but it's exactly the same as Winamp 2.. My point being that Winamp 5 is even better than that, so I don't see how Winamp sucks.

Not an office, my bedroom. I'm not gigantic at all by the way, I'm 6 feet tall, 175 lbs.
