MTA was an amazing thing back in the days of GTA III and Vice, and even SA, particularly because of how it was programmed. But now GTA IV has eclipsed all the previous games just on its merits as a single-player game, and Rockstar has implemented a better version of MTA officially into IV.. kind of sad that the MTA devs won't have anything to do on this one.
Well it originally was $70.. but you can see the massive cascading stack of stickers, as they kept on discounting it further and further.. I remember considering buying it at $7.50 a while ago, and then seeing it at $5 next time I was at Wal-Mart, and then the most recent time I was there it was $2.50.. and all this was before they announced they were shutting it down. Funny how I still wouldn't buy it at $2.50 though, haha..
Same here, except I worked there for 18 months (just quit in October). Started as a PC tech April 07, and December 07 moved up to in-home tech, which is admittedly a very cushy job for being the highest-paid non-salary position in the store.
I saw a LOT of turnover, which as you said was due to other factors (i.e. pressure to sell when on zero commission). The sad thing is, even having the best position other than store director or operations manager, I was STILL pressured into that stuff. It was enough to drive me to quit despite being able to set my own schedule and almost never be under any supervision. I guess my point is that even when you got the position you wanted after sitting through the "placeholder", it still would have been shitty.
In 1.5 years, I saw 4 completely different sets of management, and probably 5-10 full turnovers of almost every employee in the store. In my ending weeks, I honestly didn't even know about 90% of the people that worked there, despite being a "veteran", because the turnover was so high and I was rarely actually in the store.
Well, here in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, probably only 5% of people use tire chains, because they have to be able to drive on the highway (at highway speeds) as well, and probably also because they know how to drive in the snow. Without tire chains, you DO need to rock the car back and forth with a quick reverse/drive action sometimes to get out of the little rut you're in.
To some of the above posters: the ones who are saying traction control should be OFF for snow are CORRECT. My '08 Jetta's manual, and common sense about braking in snow, confirm it.
True, but considering there are 2 names per one major Ubuntu version, and considering the fact that alphabetical naming started with version 6 at the letter D, my rudimentary finger-counting puts it at the letters N and O for the two version 24 releases (in 2024).
I got a quote that was about 25% higher than my rate with State Farm and promptly closed the browser window. Then, a couple months later, I get a call from Geico (at 9 in the morning, which for me is a really fucking annoying time to be woken up by an insurance company). They're offering an even lower rate, which STILL ends up being 10% higher than what I pay my good neighbor who's always there. After all the fucking commercials I've endured over the years, you'd think they could muster a lower rate. I just hung up on the bastard when I heard the 6-month premium spew out his mouth.
I've bought 4 Wiis since they came out for myself, friends, and relatives. Each time, I've just called the local Gamestop and asked if they had any, and I've found one same-day each time.
I hear you, but you can at least filter results by new/used if the seller used pre-filled item information, and you can also filter results by country I think.. But I do agree it's annoying. I just had to buy a new casing for my Blackberry and it was damn difficult to find one that wasn't in Hong Kong where I'd have to wait 2 weeks for it.
I'm surprised she only ended up with 23,000 spam at the end of the month, when purposely giving out her address. Ever since getting Gmail in 2004, I have been completely careless about giving out my address, but never gave it to spammers on purpose. I now have 7,742 messages in my Spam folder, which deletes messages after 30 days, so that's what I get in a month. I only see 1 or 2 of those 7k each month:-)
I have a Toshiba laptop, the M305-S4819, that came with this software (it now dual-boots XP and Slackware, but before formatting I gave it a shot.)
My random, alphanumeric password takes about 1-2 seconds to type in. The software takes about that long just to start the webcam, and then an additional 5 seconds to recognize the face. Also, obviously, you'd have to change your password to something extremely long and random (that maybe you didn't even know) for this to be useful.
On top of that, I registered my face in the morning with my hair messed up and with me unshaven. It worked fine then, but I had to re-register later in the day when I was cleaned up, because it didn't recognize me. It also won't recognize you if you have a hat on.
It is kind of a cool novelty though, if you're willing to use Vista just for that.
Remember the good-old days when Mozilla (and Firefox) release notes actually talked about bugs fixed, features introduced, and interesting things? When each version actually informed you about what had changed?
Going to mozilla.org (or.com) and trying to find betas is now impossible. No, really... there are no links to non-release versions.
Except for the big ol' link under "What's New" on mozilla.com, called Firefox 3 Sneak Peek, which leads to the RC download page. That page, in turn, has a big ol' link up at the top to the release notes. That page is a long list of new features (although I'll admit it's light on specifically what bugs were fixed, and what's "interesting" is subjective).
This has been well-known for a LONG time - you can rename cmd.exe to Magnify.exe and then run it from the Accessibility options at the login screen. Then you can do whatever you could normally do with a command prompt process run by System - like for example, run "control Userpasswords2" and change/reset anyone's password.
Heh.. that's pretty much what I was thinking. Remember when the original Fable was supposed to be a game where every choice made a difference? If you planted a seed when young, there'd be a tree there later in the game when you were older? If you got cut as a kid, there'd be a scar? It was going to be interactive and open-ended, and span the life of the main character?
And then remember when we got an 8-hour, incredibly linear walk-along-the-path-so-you-can-get-to-the-next-town-where-there-are-maybe-10-inconsequential-NPCs snorefest that Fable was? We'll see, Mr. Molyneux. We'll see..
Exactly.. GTA4 is not the voice of the main character. I like his voice acting, but he thinks he should have gotten millions out of 600 million? What about the hundreds of developers that made the actual game? The rest of the artists? Not to mention only a fraction of the 600 mil goes to Rockstar anyway, Take Two and the retailers are getting a big chunk of that. I think $100k is a fair deal, especially if that's what he signed for.
Or those that say "technically" when they mean the opposite.. UGH.

There are about 10 copies of the collector's edition at my local Wal-Mart discounted to $2.50...
So you've seen the Mr Hands video...

1. Who's homepage isn't set to Google anyway? (You can just type in the address bar to search Google) 2. You can turn on the Home button in Options.
I don't think anyone would, knowing that Liquid Ocelot could take control of all of them.

I pay $75/month for my T-Mobile 1000-minute, unlimited texting and data plan for my Blackberry. After taxes and fees, it's $81.34. Pretty reasonable.

Or maybe the M/F ratio is near 1:1, but the M/F _weight_ ratio leans heavily toward the latter?
We DO need to do something. It's called making an account and clicking on Preferences, then choosing a threshold of 0 or lower.
There's an option when installing to uncheck Link Scanning.
How about Googling for AVG, clicking the first result ("AVG Free") and clicking the "Get It Now" button under "Free Basic Protection"?
