Agreed, as an early UK adopter of HD-DVD (because the xbox add-on is about a third of the price of blu-ray) I do find the current selection appalling and what little selection there is is usually out of stock :-(
If Casino Royale had been released on HD-DVD I would have been the first in-line.

I just hope "someone" wins the highdef war so we don't end up in the DVD-A/SACD situation where both formats appear to have lost.

The moral to this story? missing all the hype will lower your level of expectations but will not make it a better movie.

Case fans are not as important as the heatsink/fan combo on the CPU itself! Reducing the case temp by a few degrees isn't going to make much difference if the CPU heatsink isn't doing its job.

For a 1.33Ghz you should really have a good heatsink/fan combo, check hardware sites for the best ones available right now. Also get some thermal paste to apply between the heatsink and CPU, this can make a huge difference also.

Region Code Enhanced. It basically tells the player that it is region 0 disk(so the player switches to region 0), then during the menu sequence checks that the player is region 1. The Idea being that only region 1 locked players will be able to play. I have heard that a lot of mods get around this, mine for example wont change to Region 0, so in theory it should work. All of the RCE disks so far have been crap so I havent tested this so far.

I didnt say I was against the principle of having multiple chips on a board (I cant wait to see if ATI do a MAXX version of their RADEON cards). If these chips were even close to Nvidia and ATI in performance then they would really have something special with these 2 and 4 chip versions, the problem is that these chips have been delayed for so long that they are in danger of being obsolete before they even get to market.

Perhaps I should have said the performance of the VSA 100 chip is poor rather than "crappy".

1 The pcb appears to got into one of the drive bays.
2 The board has a header below the last Chip/fan combo, If you have anything protruding from the mainboard directly in line with the AGP slot this board aint gonna fit.

If it takes four of these chips to beat a GF2 ultra then it must be a pretty crappy chip when you think about. ATIs Radeon was faster than a GF2 until the release of the detonator 3 driver, so 3dfx is very much in thrird place as it stands really.

No, most people seem to be of the assumption that widescreen AND/OR digital displays are also what is termed HDTV.

I remember seeing a prototype HDTV set at Sony`s UK headquarters ten years ago, the picture was amazing!! You could clearly make out details on the screen from thirty feet away. It was a 4:3 analogue display but instead of 625 lines @ 50 hz it was over a 1000 lines @ around 100hz.

If you look at Widescreen sets in the UK, by the time you zoom in to the letter box you must be getting less than 450 lines.

I was looking at one of these 32 inch Philips sets at the weekend and the picture quality was terrible ( Though I think it was the SkyDigital transmission that was at fault, The shop next door had the 28inch set that was much better ).
