On a flight from LA to San Francisco I recently took all i was taking was my rucksack as hand luggage, in it was my digital camera, a 12-pack of Duracell batteries with only eight still in the packet, four being in my camera, and my iPod and a few other bits and bobs.
My bag got flagged by the security staff and so first I was ordered to sit down in some waiting area type place while they swabbed my bag (I presume for trace explosives or something) and put it through the scanner again.
I was then given a pat-down body search, my shoes had to be taken off, put through the scanner and then swabbed, my bag was then taken away by one of the staff and I was told to wait while they tested that the batteries were actually batteries or something. I wasn't told, just ordered to sit and wait.
So after 30mins of my time wasted they decided to let me go on my merry way. What really got on my nerves is that there were no 'please' or 'thankyous' uttered by any of them, I felt as if I had done something wrong or was being treated badly just for having batteries in my bag.
The point is that you can run only the problem apps as a full Admin without having to give the user system-wide admin rights.
Still, it isn't a proper workaround, an option to 'save password' so Dad wouldn't have to keep entering it would be handy, but it's better than the kids having full-control.
You won't be able to buy G5-based PC's until August. You can buy P4 3.2Ghz's CPU'd machines today (although rather expensive).
It'll be interesting to see if a company can get a workstation-orientated Opteron motherboard out before then since it will make Apple's 'first 64bit personal computer' claim a load of rubbish.
Unless of course AMD do something magical and get Athlon 64 out before August.
I can hear the crickets chirping....
A clock chimes.
The grass rustles.
Somewhere on Slashdot someone shouts...
First Post!
Not even 10 comments and the link already seems dead.
Impressive to say the least...

There's also The Linux Link Tech Show.
Microsoft service packs don't require the previous service packs (eg XP SP1) to be installed, they contain all the updates thus far.
I wonder how many of their 40mil+ users actually know that they're an 'active' user?
Gaylord....teeheeheeheeheee.
ATA-133 isn't a real standard or something so only a few manufacturers support it.

Searched the web for ogg. Results 1 - 10 of about 1,040,000. Search took 0.08 seconds.
Searched the web for itunes. Results 1 - 10 of about 1,090,000. Search took 0.07 seconds.
Nope, looks like iTunes has more hits to me, and the first 10 results all seem rather relevant to both Ogg Vorbis and iTunes and not Google-bait.
Last I heard was that the BBC did a few test streams in 2002 and then gave up on the whole idea by January of 2003.
For now they're sticking with nasty RealMedia.

For iTunes on Windows you hold down shift instead to do the same thing.

Google, making identity theft and stalking easier for you, one day at a time....
and patched August 31, 2003
I knew the open source community worked fast but that's just scary.
Fat lot of use an online petition will do.
Anyways, if the new features are so damn important to you buy a new iPod, quit whining.
THE GOGGLES! THEY DO NOTHING!
1. News for Nerds.
Ok, no real problem there.
2. Stuff that matters.
I think this one was forgotten somewhere along the line....
Everyone buy a mobile phone, get into a super-expensive cross-border conference call and duct tape the phone to your head.
It's the perfect solution I tells ya!
this page loops through and shows them all (I think) ^_^
The inability of the record monopolies to embrace the internet strikes again!
