Seriously, who studies from those? I found I NEVER go back to my notes when exam time comes. I just read from the book, slides, homeworks, wiki... never found the notes particularly useful after all.
But then again there's the issue that it's in the best interest of the government to have an educated population, so they "should" do something about it. Perhaps messing with the loans market isnt' the best thing to do, so what then? Making college education "free" (i.e. paid by taxes) as in Europe? Is the US people willing to allow that?
Only if you also control the content market, and can make up for the losses there. That worked for the PS3 and works for the iPad, since Sony and Apple control the content delivery in their platforms.
Do you care to explain how could it have possibly worked for HP?
How much "bad advertising" did CoD:MW2 have because of the no-dedicated-servers issue? And how did it perfom? 4.7m copies on the first day? 20m+ in the next several months.
Yeah, I can see how bad advertising really hurts...
It's just how the propaganda machine works in the western world. They know they can't just do things dictator-way (though they would love to). So the powers-that-be start "denouncing" a problem, media starts talking, and some months later everybody is discussing how to deal with the problem, and everybody forgot whether it was a real problem to begin with.
...another friend that worked in the medical field and was getting questioned daily by his HR department demanding he "friend them" on Facebook. so he changed his name to a made up one, made a new "real profile" that is empty and friended them through that.
Wouldn't it be easier to just accept the "friendship" request and put the HR people in a can't-see-anything-that-I-post group? That way, he would't even be lying, as he is now.
... How do you think they're going to get licensing for more movies (especially new releases) without raising more money to pay increased licensing fees?
How about FIRST improving their offering, and THEN raising the price? You know, good old 'investing'.
Just ban all mobile phones and tablets and be done with it.
King Solomon, is that you?!?
Protests are just one step. You have to vote them out. And make more people, everyone you know, vote them out.
I hope you betted on that
Drone attacks during Reagan Administration: 0. Your point?
It's a relatively new technology: it makes sense that it's being used more and more as time goes by.
That said, it's a f**king killing machine, and using it amounts to murder. But's that your today's Amerika.
France and Japan do have these high speed trains already. Did theirs take 30 years to build?
Because a educated population in is the best interest of society?
In Soviet Russia, the probe phones YOU!
Oh wait...
It's called advertising.
I know! They could make a nice "reality" show out of it. They could even ask, say, HBO to produce it.
Seriously, who studies from those? I found I NEVER go back to my notes when exam time comes. I just read from the book, slides, homeworks, wiki... never found the notes particularly useful after all.
That means Republicans are staging their comeback? Oh shit.
Makes total sense.

I didn't think so.
is we all know what comes next
This is like saying "Someone else would have laid the groundwork of modern computing, so while Alan Turing was a real smart and influential guy..."
Sure. No one would've done it

Another happy TF-101 owner. At $390, it's just a great alternative to the iPad.
Now, if only Skype video worked, it'd be perfect.
And of course, it's "just" an alternative to the iPad, not "more". Apple keeps showing The Way here.
It's also the place where one of the coolest commandos-on-gliders operations of WWII took place.
They did it already.
Not in gaming, apparently.

For Apple, a $1000 or $750 iPad means your competitors will have MUCH more room to maneuver. And how can you justify that?

Masses are, sadly, extremely manipulable.

Is Slashdot a "social networking" site?

How about the "extraordinary rendition" of a canadian citizen to be tortured in Syria?
