  2. IANARS but... on Linux Rocket Blasts Off This Fall · · Score: 1, Interesting
I wouldn't be suprised to hear that rockets had been guided by linux all along. If I were involved in the launch of a rocket, i'd just like to know that the system is going to hold up and not get a bsod, freeze up, or just reboot while in flight. I mean if this is the first of its kind, that's an accomplishment. Kudos to the Linux rocket scientists. But we all know Linux is a pretty reliable OS and I would've been more suprised to hear that it didn't work.

But as previously posted, what OS has been guiding rockets? Wind-SCO-s?

I think the number of Kazaa download just tells us that there are more criminals than we think.

It can't be that wrong if everybody's doing it. Here's one way to look at it. If a million people say that a chair is not in the middle of the floor, but only one person says that it is, that person is wrong or considered crazy, regardless if there really is a chair there. Today, billions of people share files with kazaa, irc, and other programs. For the purpose of this argument, we'll say they think it's right or ok to do this. If a thousand people try to say it's wrong, the majority will just ignore them and think of them as wrong or crazy, regardless of the fact that it may really be wrong. So it's not a matter of there being more criminals than we think, it's just that majority rules.

Changing that T to Terrorism was brilliant. I'd forgotten for a minute that they were about to totally invade privacy. That has a nice ring doesn't it.

  13. Don't wanna give them the wrong idea on Washington State Restricts Anti-Cop Videogames · · Score: 4, Insightful
Ok, so a video game is the complex program written by a lot of programmers, that ultimately starts with a thought or idea. Much like a book or a paper, except video games are much more popular. Following the logic of this new law in Washington, I guess we can expect the sale of books and such that depict violence against authority to be restricted as well, just to be sure kids don't get any wrong ideas. And just to be safe, we should probably just keep kids locked up with no TV or any worldly influence until they are 18. That's the safest way to make sure they don't get any wrong ideas in their heads.

But I guess we gotta start somewhere, and apparently they think video games is a good place to start
