This is only gonna stop the dumb spammers who are easy to trace... soon they are gonna be up to their eyeballs in spammers who are a bit harder to trace.... I think also this could cause the vengefull spammer to start to really hit some of these guys....One more thing how do spammers know what boxes are in Missouri some sort of list? if it is I'm sure the spammers just love it
The Wi-Fi Alliance says Wi-Fi networks are safe. The radio waves in a Wi-Fi network use the same frequency as wireless home phones, and have one-thirtieth the power of cordless phones, said Grimm, the spokesman for the group
so... these parents I'm guessing don't have cellphones or wireless phones either?...give me a break the school is right wireless is the wave of the future and without scientific bases this case is based on pure bull****
err... why buy track by track in iTunes? you can buy the entire album for $10 unless it is less than 12 tracks than the price is adjusted accordingly.
it's actually cheaper to buy iTunes
I give it 5 minutes.
Has the RIAA realized that the more they promote stuff like this the more eager people are to break it. They need to learn that nothing is secure.
I have gotten this question before, and some very smart people asked it too. Mainly it is something that kind of slipps out the first time someone uses a computer because they feel intimidated by them.
there is gotta be a better way to solve this problem than fining them if they get a virus. I know many people who probably have enough trouble getting there e-mail let alone correctly configuring a firewall.
i would like some nice looking blue myself. but anyways I wonder how usefull this really gonna be. other than a possible style thing it seems a bit useless.
well I kinda wondered about how it would work so well in NY cuz some buildings or in the shadow of others. Second, if this gets implemented and than a couple days of no sun pop up wouldn't it stress out the grid a bit more than normal
whenever I hear about bold projects, I always hate it when they are discussed. I really wish that there would be some committment. Stop the endless chatter about the "possibility" of doing it, just say we will do this. Even if it fails something most likely has been learned.

Even if the project may have questionable value at the time doesn't mean that it is useless. At time of invention the airplane was pretty useless too.

well it all depends on how powerfull and where the memory is truth be told I have an ad-hoc sytem in my computer (one hard drive is kinda held up (above the memory) with some duct tape so MRAM would kill that but I am unique.
You have every right to tell Carter to STFU, just as he has the right to keep talking, just as I have the right to call you a right winged nut and to STFU.
thank you.
of course these rights are subject to change if GWB & Ashcroft have their way
Yes I am part of the great left wing conspiracy
What the space program really needs is a lofty goal and a challenge. We should aim for something like Mars, or semi permenant lab on the moon. We need someone to compete against. (I heard the private sector is starting to get interested in space so maybe in time?) We need a challenge like JFK's challenge to get to the moon. We need to find the drive to continue exploration. The tech gap to get to Mars is far less than it was to the moon. I just think motivation and $$$ are all that is really needed.
In my experience with windows update is that many of the patches can actually mess up some systems(mine for example:( ) and many people are much less enthusiastic about applying patches. Also, some IT guys test these patches themselves before putting them on all computers.
I actually liked this story by Phillip K. Dick. His works have been getting more attention since Minority report and I wonder if more of his stories will be put on the big screen.
yeah I was there yesterday(day before hacking) after waiting four and a half hours to actualy see somebody to exchange my license plates you kinda start to wish these things happen more often
I think that at the rate this is going Linux should be ready for the desktop in a year or so....although then Linux is gonna need a company with enough guts to go out, risk their necks, and start an marketing campaign against the evil empire of M$ plus a good reason to switch.
tomorrow the open source mozilla isp comes out...free...as in beer!

I know we all are uber geeks and everything but I don't think this is really news. I think I heard about this a while ago.

well if Bill is gonna start forking over Linux he still will have to abide by the GPL, right?
