Just like piracy is something that goes hand in hand with owning IP.
I don't understand why people are up in arms about getting sued, you do the crime, you do the time. The argument about "there isnt any good music worth buying" is silly too... Just don't listen to it or share it period.
I've had great animosity toward major record labels since my teenage years. I just plain avoid the crappy top 40 music that theyre suing over and IMHO FM radio is wasteland unless you're on NPR or your local college station.
A good way to find out about music is to check websites like www.groovetech.com or Amazon that let you preview music.
Either way... if you're gonna play the pirate game you better be prepared to suffer the consequences. Maybe music/software pirates should blame themselves for not being sneaky enough.
I saw this thing youre talking about at a swap meet here in Portland, OR.
It looks like a N64 controller w/ a light gun connected to it via wire. I saw two different gun styles.. one sorta NES styled and another that looked like some sorta browning pistol knockoff or something.
I played the games... they kinda blow... a lot of them are just one screen with repeating sprites that you kick/punch/shoot depending on the game.
I dunno if anyone remembers those old 150-in-1 cartriges for the NES. But the games sucked much like those did, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they were the same ones. Although there does seem to be a few hacked NES games (i.e. made smaller and simpler).
Why would an ISP that's so stingy with bandwith sell its user list and open itself up even more of the massive bandwith used for spamming?
But then again... maybe they hope you download enough spam that it pushes you over into the next pricing tier. hehehe
Id be triple checking my credit card statements for the next couple weeks just in case.
I wonder how damaging this is for the company's business itself... how many customers will pack up and leave?
Maybe people might wanna test this theory by creating text pages full of links w/ game names.
How come they havent sent one of these letters to www.gamefaqs.com and all those kids who write the FAQs and walkthroughs? Maybe theyre just lucky?
Good point...
But don't forget the armed takeover of the Hawaiian Islands, or the slaughter of the American Indians. Then there was the whole slavery thing.
But at least in America we declare these horrible things atrocities and make sure no one else does them after we reap the benefits.
The screenshots of Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) have been removed at the request of Apple's legal department. We apologize for any problems caused to them, as we meant no harm by our actions. Watch the WWDC keynote this Monday for the official unveiling of Panther.

...but I can't...
Although I have stopped shopping at these large chain record stores years ago. I decided to start supporting local small business since the money stays in town for the most part anyway. I also convince all my friends to shop at these stores too.
It's not hard when the smaller stores are willing to cater to special interests and actually care more since they're usually owned by music lovers themselves. It is so much easier to find good music and not be stuck with choices off the billboard marketing charts.
I also have succeeded in not buying a CD for about 4 years now, I stick to vinyl because it sounds better, the cover art is bigger and I dj from time to time. The only drawbacks are weight and the fact that ripping vinyl to CD is a little tedious.
Hmmm well maybe you could start browser ratings board and require full PNG support and eventually embarrass Microsoft into implimenting better support.
The hard part will be getting them to care about your opinion.
They can allways modify the work and repantent it too...
For instance prozac... the patent on that is up soon.. or did recently end.. im not entirely sure.
But now instead of once a day prozac the company (Merck?) is pushing thier new improved and patented once a week prozac pill.
Well maybe they can incorporate this into the Star-Wars Defense System... you could smack those missiles into bits before they hit thier targets.
I hope they put some blinking red lights on this thing thoug... Imagine the anger of an advanced alien race when we inadvertantly dent one of thier starships?
Quote: Why would anyone want to use this? It makes about as much sense as a web-browser on a bootable CD.
Well, how about building a standalone MAME box that takes advantage of the low overheard of a Knoppix system to juice that hardware for all its worth... and if it crashes? Press the reset button.
The fact that in order to legally play these ROMs you also have to
own
the physical ROM itself.
How many people in here own actual arcade pc boards, or better yet whole machines?
Although MAME does also emulate NEO GEO hardware which was nearly identical in function in the home and arcade versions... I'm sure there are more owners of NEO GEO systems than say, a "King of Fighters 2001" arcade machine.
Really though... the somewhat recent crackdown on ROM sites should at least make people a little wary of openly talking about where to get ROMs on the net here.
Hmmm... so wouldn't any logical but non-technical person assume... well, I guess I want the "full" speed and not just "high" speed... I mean really... full means all that is possible right?
Isn't it funny that there is still no emulator for the gamecube? I mean, it must be the only console without an emulator (and ps2?)...
Well there's this work in progress for linux and windows PC.

Don't you mean anything in the name of keeping up with the capitalists?
What are the American investor's intersts in this anyway? Im sure it wasnt for the sake of the human race and progress of the Chinese people.
- If you can't beat them, assimilate them with kindness.
How about betting on how many animal species are threatened w/ extinction by habitat destruction?
Or maybe some previously benign insect/animal/plant will blow with a huge population explosion and imbalance things that way. Hopefully... whatever it is will be edible.
Are you sure about dance club patronage declining?
I've been attending/working in nightclubs for half my life and all I see are more clubs opening and more people becoming DJs. If you havent noticed... they sell turntables at Guitar Center.
I mean come on... there's a famous female DJ selling Twix on TV right now.
But regardless if this game is original or not, I commend the developers for going so much farther than just talking about how cool it would be.
I love my Dreamcast ($35 used @ most gaming stores) and hope more people are inspired to tinker with thier Dreamcast systems.

Now that I've pantented "self gratification through manual or digital stimulation". I'll be able to afford that summer home I've allways wanted.

You think they'll make a special "Fly along with your captain." version of MS Flight Simulator?
Well for starters it has a modified Dreamcast logo and is called Treamcast.
I switched to running Winrar without a liscense long ago.
