Hmm. What happened last time a company had a great program, was selling it, and was then forced to give some of it, then all of it, away for free in order to "compete" with Microsoft?
Really? The couple of times I called them for help they did everything they could to avoid having to take the thing back for repair, including the "blame the consumer" game. I was very disappointed.
So it should be "Why does everyone but me love Apple?"
These "regular" companies are angry because Google has found a way to enter or create new industries without going through the "barriers to entry" that the other companies have had to do. I say more power to google and I hope they tell these other industries (which no doubt have lobbyists working hard on making google illegal in some way) to go get bent. Google needs LOBBYISTS!!
That's how most political parties operate. The Reaganistas defined "ketchup" (made from tomatoes, a fruit, ahd sweetener and other nasties) as a "vegetable" so they could claim that children were getting a serving of vegetables every day at school.
Even the title to this posting is biased: "Is there STILL racism..." I didn't know there WAS any racism going on. Did you? Just because a field is dominated by a certain type of person does not imply that there is a single solitary shred of any "ism" going on.
If someone can PROVE that there is or was racism going on in the I.T. field at large, then I'd like to see the proof. Come on, you're geeks, so prove it!
Before someone spouts that I am some sort of bigoted Rush Limbaugh republican, I'm not. I'm quite the opposite.
Arnie signed that law knowing full well it would be struck down. It's a win-win for him.
Arnold gets to take credit for "protecting" minors. He also now has the opportunity to slam the judicial branch for being "liberal." (Whatever that means.)
However, the law was nothing more than restraint of trade.
If you give them two weeks notice, and they're paranoid enough to shut you out like that, then you should enjoy your two weeks off and to heck with 'em!!
I love the show, but there is one test that I watched where I went away totally thinking that you guys just plain blew it. It was the "air conditioner vs. rolling the windows down" test.
Here is how you guys "ruined" the test:
1: You slowed down to 45 miles per hour. Wind drag with 10 less MPG is SIGNIFICANTLY less than at 55 or 65 MPH. I bicycle, I know all about wind drag. One or two extra MPH can really hurt!!
2: You had no real way of knowing the exact MPG because if the tank is NEAR empty and one person's driving is more erratic than the other, the fuel pump can "suck air" making the engine stall out before the thing has really run completely dry.
3: The diagnostic computer was RIGHT. The windows being down did suck more fuel than the AC because the car's computer is REQUIRED to keep the air/fuel ratio constant. More air means more fuel, period.
The test would have been more convincing had you put fuel rate measuring devices in the fuel lines.
All your other stuff, though, is really horrorshow!!!:-) Especially Kari! Who can't fall in wuv with THAT!!
They may make $100.00 per hour, but when the contract is over, they could have several months of bupkis. That $100/hr quickly becomes as good as $20.00/hr.
Unfortunately, most politicians are horribly irony impaired and wouldn't even get it if you sat them down and explained it to them using "real short words."
Actually, Ohio does NOT charge you when you fail. You get two or three chances to pass the test, then you pay when you pass it or you've failed three times in a row.
...a "service" like that would end free television, at least for me. the inability to flip channels would annoy me to no end.
not that it makes much diff.. they all show commercials at the same time anyway.
Netscape used to be a "for sale" product. Even though you could download it for free.

um, A LONG TIME AGO??
stick to the most common chipsets, then all linuxes would run on them.
the less I want to even watch a movie or television... the cost of admission even into your own home goes higher and higher and the quality goes down.
I'll go outside instead.
The national street illegal drug dealers association coming out and saying "don't do drugs."
Jesus god, mod this puppy up please!
...and they predicted people would be all over the net on these things?
Verizon charges two arms, a leg and a penis for their network access.
I routinely scan XP machines all the time. I see numbers in the hundreds. If the UK only has that few, they're lucky!
Spyware hype or scare? No, it's reality!
...they'll lose me as a customer.

Duh, in #1 above, should read 10 less MPH, not MPG. DUH!!

Of IT IS popular browser?? Is that what you meant?
to not work for other people. Start your own company and make your own W2. It's one of the best things I've ever done!

Plenty of exercise works. Seriously. Exercise cures depression. It's really that simple!
(This doesn't apply to people with screwed-up brain chemistry.)
