The problems with my MiniDisc player are:
1. It doesn't have a built-in mic.
2. Attaching a small plug mic picks up a lot of motor noise.
3. So-called "downloading" to the PC is D->A->D at realtime.
Also keep in mind that the microcassette has the nice features of a built-in mic and speaker. It may seem like just plugging in external accessories for these functions isn't a big deal, in practice it might make it so you don't want to use the thing.

In any system, work generates value. There is no need for a particular economic system to "aim" for that. A bird gathering food for its chicks generates value.

To your points... Unfortunately, too many money-worshippers are in the middle class. Just look at all the BMW's parked outside your office building. The "greed is good" mantra is pervasive in corporate America, all the way down to the entry-level employee. That's a lot of people who think that "playing fairly" means grabbing whatever you can get your hands on.
The point is, the original comment clearly was saying the constitution no longer applies when you enter private property. In fact, the letter of the law still applies. All your constitutional rights are in full force.

The irony is that a Slashdot grammar nazi got it wrong when being a nazi about grammar. Well, OK, it would be ironic if it weren't for the fact that this happens every time someone tries to correct someone else's grammar or spelling. Anyhow:
Grammar: (n) The study of how words and their component parts combine to form sentences.
Grammar is about the structure of language, not its usage. An article about irony is not an article about proper grammar.
Bonus points for those of you who can point out the seven flaws in this message.
