My favorite quote from the article: "Indeed, many companies have already migrated to Windows 2000 Professional". Already? That's some real cutting edge stuff.
The problems with my MiniDisc player are:
1. It doesn't have a built-in mic.
2. Attaching a small plug mic picks up a lot of motor noise.
3. So-called "downloading" to the PC is D->A->D at realtime.
Also keep in mind that the microcassette has the nice features of a built-in mic and speaker. It may seem like just plugging in external accessories for these functions isn't a big deal, in practice it might make it so you don't want to use the thing.
Capitalism states it's aim as using human work to generate value
In any system, work generates value. There is no need for a particular economic system to "aim" for that. A bird gathering food for its chicks generates value.
I can't believe slashdot has posted another article about SCO, the Southern College of Optomertry. I mean, optometry is geeky, but I come here to read about asteroids and anime.
Wow, someone on slashdot used the word "ostensibly", and did it more or less correctly too! Bravo!
To your points... Unfortunately, too many money-worshippers are in the middle class. Just look at all the BMW's parked outside your office building. The "greed is good" mantra is pervasive in corporate America, all the way down to the entry-level employee. That's a lot of people who think that "playing fairly" means grabbing whatever you can get your hands on.
The point is, the original comment clearly was saying the constitution no longer applies when you enter private property. In fact, the letter of the law still applies. All your constitutional rights are in full force.
When you board a plane, you no longer follow the Constitution to the letter --- it's not the open public
Right. That's why I've decided to enslave everyone who enters my private home. I've got the cages all set up. I can't wait for the mailman to come by! As soon as he steps inside, he's MINE! Hey, once he enters my private home, he's in the privately owned land I like to call Ignominious Poltroonia. He can kiss his US-granted constitutional rights goodbye.
First off the EU is putting up Galileo, which will double the number of SV's orbiting the earth
I swear when I first read this, I thought it said it would double the number of SUV's orbiting the earth. I started to picture a bunch of Expeditions slowly spinning around in space (with the drivers inside talking on cell phones of course).
No, here's the irony.

Isn't It Ironic?

Slashdot, home of bad grammar and spelling, posts article about proper grammar.
The irony is that a Slashdot grammar nazi got it wrong when being a nazi about grammar. Well, OK, it would be ironic if it weren't for the fact that this happens every time someone tries to correct someone else's grammar or spelling. Anyhow:
Grammar: (n) The study of how words and their component parts combine to form sentences.
Grammar is about the structure of language, not its usage. An article about irony is not an article about proper grammar.

Yeah. Run a business like these guys, for instance, and you'll not only reap great rewards for yourself, but you'll bring down a bank or two. These sort of scams have cost taxpayers billions in bailouts, and the few who reap their benefits typically walk away with no liability, and all the yachts they can eat.

I'm here all week.

Maybe, but only if they charge "late fees" to late students.
...Oscar Screener Ban Plan Scrapped. I think it has to do with Oscar Meyer hot dog scraps being banned at awards festivals.

But the SPU2's in the PS2 only support stereo.

And they say bad box art is a thing of the past.

Nah. This new release has some pretty bad cover art...

That's "GNU Public Slayings".
I read slashdot all the time, and I have no idea what this is about. I wish they could provide some context with these articles.
No, the article is about being addicted to information. People who regularly read Slashdot are addicted to misinformation.
Actually, each process under Windows NT/2000 is limited to 2GB of memory. No cookie for you.

A small company named transistor specializes in this sort of thing. You can easily have music in every room without completely blowing your budget.
