Only marketing departments could find a way of making a product more attractive on the basis of removing a feature and then marketing the product at a market that already considered it irrelevant.
It's been moved from userspace to kernel space. I guess there's some technical reasons as to why this is a worthy move, but it has given a lot of people problems. Hopefully this is a one off and it'll be ironed out soon.
Heh... didn't expect to be using/. for troubleshooting, thanks for the suggestions guys.
I do know about the new/dev/input/mice and I've enabled events in my kernel, along with all the other suggestions. I've learnt a heck of a lot, but as yet, this is unsolved.
...laptop touchpad don't bother going near 2.6 if you don't know exactly what you're doing. I still haven't got the mouse working. I can't even find anyone who can tell me how to confirm if the touchpad is a synaptic.
I agree. It said some bull about what was good about Mepis (which I was particularly interested in because I love it)... then the only line in there about why they chose Knoppix over Mepis was that Knoppix 'provides a better user experience.'
Uh yeah, sure.
It might not have been relevant to the review, but the main reason I prefer Mepis over Knoppix is that on a hard disk install apt-get is screwed with Knoppix because of some directory structure, etc changes... but it works a dream with Mepis.
Roast beef... English lunch... where, how... what?
There is no "ineligible receiver" downfield rule in REAL football (and the fact that I don't know what it means to American football only highlights the offside rule separating English/Americans - you're half English, of course you know what it is.)
uninteligble [sic] yeah:))...let me guess, that's the spelling on and off the North American continent?:p
If anyone wants cannon fodder for episteme - he's half American. (Sorry Jamie, kinda).
Yes, every English male under the Sun knows how the offside law works, and I'd bet that not very many American men do - what else is he supposed to ask? For an ascii image of his passport?
...asking under what circumstances I'd need an SCO IP Linux licence. Got the standard email received reply, then when someone tried to tell me under what circumstances I'd need the licence I got this email:

I see no reason why a kid who reads/. should be forced to do the crud I used to get for things like geography homework.
They should bump his grades up for trying to get the site/.ed
...if the laptop touchpad issues have been addressed since 2.6.3 - or if they're going to be?
far too much to come up with that.

Joe Worker: Hi Boss, good weekend?
...
Boss: Err...
Joe Worker: My work mobile (cell) seems to have died this weekend, any chance of a new one?

I'm not the only one suffering this.
Works great on my slackware desktop.
...(well it's not like anyone round here can take the piss for being geeky)...
...and we have a 'girl' (mid-20s) and she can hold her own, so I don't see why she shouldn't play (and we're not a crap clan).
I can't stand sisoft sandra, for a variety of reasons. It reminds me of norton software with that bloaty feel.
I prefer AIDA32.
Stick a webserver on it and /. it.
Try clicking 'SCO Professional Services' on that link.

You can cut at least 4GBP off the 500k with www.plus.net - and for everyone else you refer to them you get 50p a month off that.
...just put eldertree in the referrer box when you sign up ;)
Tip of the day: for added prettiness, set Nimbus Sans L as your default font. Then watch people gape and go 'ooooh!'
Not a huge amount of difference, but definately a good tip, cheers!

Err realised is the traditional English spelling.

Why? Only a kid really at 18 and it's not like anyone's going to get anything back from the blaster mess.
You're a fool if it effected you anyway.
