"I really wish we didn't have to play down to these fools and rednecks to win..."
So I take it you're from the other half of his constituency then: religous zealots.
Holyshit. I don't have class today, but I'm going to have to stop by UNL to get one of those because I just have to see it for myself. That is one of the most disgusting displays of greedy corporate intimidation practices I have ever seen. They might as well just release a press-statement saying, "All you little college bastards are thieving criminals!" Up until this time, I have kind of watched the whole RIAA/MPAA vs. piracy saga with a half amused outsider's viewpoint. I don't download movies or music illegally, so its never been much of a concern to me. But this is absolutely offensive to me as a consumer. If the MPAA wants to treat me and other college students in this manner, I CAN DO WITHOUT THEIR FUCKING MOVIES!
(makes me so angry I just about want to VNC into those vombie machines in the 501 building and download some shit out of spite);-)
Yeah, I agree. Wasn't that somewhat clear form my post? That's exactly why people become indignant and fight tooth and nail to get out of it when the law finally applies to them (See: Ken Lay for more information).
And I wouldn't call it leftist-crap, I call it naturalist-crap. (See: "An American Tragedy" for more information.);-)
Well, you Danish are a beautiful people. However, In the Good ol' "Yew Es a' Aye", we call it the "justice" system for a reason. The historical backing reaching all the way to our present justice system does not believe in punishment for rehabilitation or even to act as a deterrent for crime (although many in this country argue that strong sentencing deters crime, this is complete bunk and there is absolutely NO evidence to support such a theory).
No, the reason for our criminal punishment system in the US has always been and still is compensation for the victim and/or victim's families, and as a plain simple punishment to those who have done wrong. As you so aptly put, "An eye for an eye", is just the way most people see things here. American's LOVE justice! They love to hate criminals, and they love to punish them. That is, until they find through the varying circumstances of life that they are all of sudden on the other side of the criminal fence, be it a speeding ticket or a drunken bar fight. Why THEN, you've never seen such righteous indignation at the brutal inequality of our laws.;-)
You're way may well be a better way of dealing with crime, but trust me, things are not changing around here anytime soon.
That's great that we can have 500 GB cheap optical disks and all, but aren't we reaching something of a bottleneck when it comes to disk access and writing? If it takes you an hour to write a 4.5 Gig dvd like it does me, then your looking at 4 days, 15 hours to write one of these babies. KEH'MON!
"Wind turbines tower over an employee at the McBride Lake Wind Farm southwest of Fort Macleod, Alta. The site is Canada's largest single-site wind farm."
Canada's largest single-site wind farm . . . there was THREE of em in that picture. Seriously, I think it would be absolutely great if we actually started using a non-carbon energy source to the extent that we had to worry about climatological effects. I live in the mid-west and I often drive past a few of them passing through Omaha. Now, I'm guessing, I'm in the minority of people who actually have them nearby and see them. We have a while to go before we really have to start worrying about this so I say hoo-rah to wind power for now.
Oh yeah. Well, to help you help me out it's also 'Ace' not 'Slick'.
I couldn't remember the real names so I just made up similar ones. Anyways, good movie though. Although I'm not so sure 'fascisticly' is really a word. Say it out loud a few times. "Fascisticly. Fascheeshticly."
Apparently as someone who has spent most of their natural lives working to become and evil genius you're offended by this poster's reckless disregard for the contemplative art of becomming a true evil genius. Makes me think of . ..
"That Dr. Evil. I didn't spend four years in evil medical school to be called Mr., thank you very much.".
For someone new to this style of gameplay, does anyone know what the specific limitations are on the demo download? I'm just curious if this will give me an idea if this is the type of game that I might enjoy. Also, do you have any suggestions for game's of this genre that might be a better place to start for a newb?
Thanks much.
Actually, the best application for something like this that I can think of would be in case of where you would like to keep a handgun in your house for protection, but are weary that your child might be able to crack the case, or find the key or something else like that. I think of my brother in this case. He lives in a horrible neighborhood and has had intruders come in his front door at night while the family was sleeping, but he's afraid that keeping a handgun in the house is just not worth the risk with his 9 year old son around. Sure you can lock it away in a combobox safe, but that might make it inaccessible enough that it wont be ready for use in the case of an emergency.
However, it might be kinda difficult to strike fear into the hearts of the wiked with all those little pink dots on the handle.;-)
I guess I'm still relatively safe though because my admin password is not only 10 characters long, but has capitals, lower case, numbers and symbols in random order.
"It should be noted that all participants opted in to the survey through a site run by Democrats, making the results non-random and therefore highly suspect.
The definition of a poll involves the random sampling of a population. To me, this poll is in violation of the most fundamental rule of polling, randomness, and therefore isn't suspect but pretty much worthless.
Having said that, I probably don't need a poll to tell me this. Would anyone agree with the basic assumption that cell-phone only users are widely college-student age people (like me) that have, on average, a more liberal voting lean?
"One major project, www.iraqbodycount.net, estimates up to 16,300 deaths in Iraq due to coalition forces. But this collects data on deaths reported in the press only. "We've always maintained that the actual count must be much higher," says Scott Lipscomb, at Northwestern University, Illinois, US, who works on the project. "I am emotionally shocked but I have no trouble in believing that this many people have been killed," he told The New York Times."
There's an entire paragraph right in the article explaining why the people who came up with iraqbodycount.net readily admit their figure is woefully low.
Finally! After years of reading/. and being told by countless Europeans that they are glad they don't have to deal with the US's invasive gov't, the tables have finally turned!
So here goes . . .
Damn. Glad I don't live in the UK! If they tried to pull that crap in my country (United States) we'd have us a little ol' fashioned uprising!
Not that our gov't wouldn't try to pull that kind of crap if they thought they could get away with it.
My Morning Jacket is one of those teatering on the edge of being mainstream bands that are still struggling to really break through big. They play all different kinds of venues from enormous to the shitty little dive where I saw them in Omaha, NE.
Also, you commented on how they were one of the few bands that do not allow sampling, so I thought you might find it interesting that after the show, we had stuck around for quite a long time drinking and we ran into the band loading their equipment so I took the opportunity to tell em I really enjoyed the show and one of the band members tossed me a free cd. I couldn't say what exactly their motives are for not allowing sampling, (maybe they feel artisticly sampling their music would debase it, I don't know) but I'm fairly sure at least its not because they are of that enormous-greedy-mainstream-radio-mindset that so many huge artist fall prey to.
Working in the realm of web design and art, one of my favorite 'mathematical concepts' has always been the golden ratio. Now, I realize that this is really more a number than it is an equation, but at any rate it is truly amazing to experiment in the world of design with how shapes adhering to the golden ration often bring about more pleasing and content looking designs as well as playing with the inexpressible startling feel of a design with say, one aspect out of touch with the golden ratio whereas everything else adheres.

Yeah, but you're forgetting, $125k Canadian is roughy equivalent to about 15 bucks US or 10 GBP.
Sorry. Couldn't help myself, eh.

I fancied doing some crackhead math apparently.

Blow on the cartridge.
Failing that, blow in the console.

To help you out a bit . . .
Slick: "Sarge, why do we have to learn to throw knives anyways? In a nuke fight all you have to do is push a button."
Zeb: "Cease Fire! . . . Put you hand on that wall, Soldier. . . . PUT YOUR HAND . . . ON THAT WALL!"

Its H82sd*e2Tn.
Nobody is ever going to crack that!!!
Hmmm, well I agree that you sure as hell shouldn't be allowed to vote.
*chuckles at own joke*

I guess its only funny if you're Mike Myers.

I laughed tho.
"why settle for the dirty, crapass countries half-way around the world?"
