A few months ago I went completely over to Red Hat, pretty much right after the release of RH 8.0 I went fully over. I still have a windows box because this one specific poker client I use and really like doesn't run under Wine (it was made really crappy) and since I have the box there I also use it to play streaming mp3s so I don't have to tie my main boxes sound card up on that. I'll also occasionally fire up Kazaa on that machine to download something. But I do all of thse through VNC since the windows box is sitting headless and half naked behind my desk. All of my day to day gaming, web browisng, e-mail, etc... etc.. is done on Linux both at home and at work.

Sony NEVER EVER sold their consoles at a loss. This is WRONG. Each individual console sold by Sony since they began selling consoles was sold for more than the cost of production on the console. Usually quite a bit more than cost of production. If you factor in Development cost divided amongst all of the consoles sold then yes, you appear to be selling at a loss. But that's deceptive. Sony makes money on each console. That money is at first used to recoup development costs. But they are still making a profit over the cost of production on each console. Otherwise they would never be able to recoup their expenses.
It is HIGHLY unlikely that Microsoft will ever stop Sony from making a profit unless they actually produce a BETTER console than the PS2 or PS3. Sony is a HUGE company. They have more diversified assets and generally are in a better position in multiple markets than Microsoft is. Sony also makes a profit on ALL of their consoles. They DO NOT sell consoles for a loss. Right now, they could cut the PS2 price down to cost of production and still be fine. They could probably sell it for 99$ right now and still make money. All of their design costs have been recouped, they are on their 4th or 5th production run and have refined the techniques. They have even rolled a BUNCH of money up into the ps3 development already. Sony isn't in ANY danger of being dethroned by Microsoft as King of the Consoles.
- We would like Microsoft to open the source code for Windows. - We would also like the drug companies to develop a cure for cancer in the next year or so - It would be ideal if the Israelis and Palestinians could come to some sort of agreement - We propose that all record companies make their content available for free, so that all consumers who like the songs will send in a reasonable payment for each song, while consumers who don't like the song will delete it.
I like that cancer idea, let's do that one. When can you have a marketing bulletin ready?
If it isn't radioactive enough to power my laptop I sure as hell doubt it's going to be radioactive enough to be dangerous. There are plenty of naturally occuring radioactive substances around, I'm not exactly worried about the tiny amount of radiation this will produce. Because these will STILL be safer than current batteries in landfills.
Are you a moron or something? If they've worn out, they are by definition no longer radioactive. Since they only way they run out is if they decay completely and energy can no longer be derived from them. So, who cares what we do with them? They'll be safer than current batteries in landfills.
And they are a hell of a lot more convenient than those old Wind Up pacemakers! I tell you man, having to reach into grandpa's chest every 6 hours and wind him back up was a pain in the ass!
I'll pay shipping if you send me all of those dead drives. I love to take them apart, pull out all of the super strong magnets and build stuff out of them. How many do you have?
It is entirely possible to be unaware that you aren't being billed. I put all of my bills on automatic payment when I sign up. If there is a mistake on the utilities end and they don't bill me, who is at fault? I made a good faith effort to pay them, but they screwed up. Should I be liable for their mistakes?
At least that's comforting, being outnumbered 1,000,000 to one wasn kinda freaking me out. Now I just have to figure out how to kill those {'s... >:) Just for my own piece of mind, is there a definitive guide to all of the symbols? I know {'s are fountains and ['s are boxes and !'s are potions and a few others. But I don't know what to do with the fountains, and I'm perpetually terrified of using the potions or scrolls for fear of killing myself. I also recently became afraid of amulets after snagging an Amulet of Suffocation. Sigh....
Got a few of my mates into it, but we quit after a while- It was just really frustrating- you would just die at some random level after you came across some 'monster' that you simply couldn't kill.
Monster?! There are MONSTERS in this game?! What am I doing chasing around all these #'s and b's then?!
One thing I don't understand, is shouldn't there be some record of what his actual bet was? A paper ticket stub, something? Is the ONLY place the bet is recorded inside this one singular computer system? Is there no information redundency here? I mean, I know if I was placing a bet that might win me 3 million bucks I would want a paper receipt that had my name on it as well as my bet so that I could point at it and say, "Luck mutherfucker, your piece of paper says I win, so gimme my fucking money!"
Example: Me and my little brother are two such rednecks (well, sorta) my little bro currently makes about the same amount of money weekly playing online poker tournaments as he does at his job. If I ever get the free time to go back to playing I'll probably do at least as well. Last time I played I turned 20$ into 140$ in 5 days. So it's not hard.
What happens if I have a nasty HD crash, or some similar disaster, can I re-download the song I already paid for or not? Are there copying or format restrictions on the tracks? Quality options? How does this stack up to being able to drop into an IRC chan and get any song you want at varying bitrates from 96 up to 256?
Dang, I must have just missed the Mushroom Samba and Pierrot Le Fou episodes on that run then. I later saw the whole series on DVD in order I guess I got a bit confused about which ones they did and didn't show.
The Cartoon Network version of CB only has 23 episodes I'm pretty sure, No Mushroom episode, no Mad Bomber episode, and no Pierre the Crazed French Clown episode. They may have added these back in since I saw the first run, but in the past they haven't been in the lineup.
Yeah, that's right, 'cause building a fucking HUGE military and propping up small dictators so you can knock them down later when they turn on you is REALLY making life better for everyone! Massive centralization of power is not an improvement over localized self government. Some ignorant jackass in washington, or california, or canada, or sweden is going to be even less effective than an ignorant jackass who lives in the area when it comes to making decisions about the area. Devoting 30% of your national budget to building more weapons is not good.
Did I say anything against roads? Did I say anything against environmental protections? No. I speak out against the MASSIVELY overfunded military, and the woefully ineffective police force. The job of the police is not to protect us, but to punish criminals and clean up the mess afterwards. If a cop sees you being stabbed to death on the sidewalk he is not legally obligated to help you. His job is only to arrest the guy stabbing you.
Really. I own two collector's editions of some very obscure music and I'd much rather play the backups than the original disks. So I make exact backups of them and then safely put the originals away.
I also own some rare expensive CDs, purchased limited edition, numbered, and the CD inserts autographed from a band called Grey Eye Glances. I spent 150$ to get 3 cds because I REALLY liked the band. I'm CERTAINLY not going to leave those CDs where they can be stepped on or broken, or even touched by other people. Because I don't want them to be destroyed, because they aren't replaceable. So I rip them to mp3, put the originals in box in my closet, and I'm happy. And the the RIAA members can each come and personally perform oral sex on me if they want me to stop.
First of all, that's highly unlikely. Second of all, even if it did happen, such a massive amount of the population is armed that the occupying forces would be hard pressed to do anything productive. As for the Germans, Russians, or Chinese invading the US, none of them have the resources. Hell, the Chinese can't even LAND more than 100,000 troops here with their combined airforce and navy. And they can't even arm that 100,000 effectively, or keep their supply lines open for that many. The US population is armed well enough to repel most foreign armies. And I'm an advocate of increased civilian armament as well. I believe in people taking responsibility for themselves on a community level.
Oooh, too bad you're a moron... Even when we were both unemployed I was NOT ELLIGIBLE for unemployment because of the way my previous employer had been paying me, and because I had only been in the state for 8 months or so. And no, I don't expect the military to defend me. They don't currently offer me any personal protection, any more than the worthless police force that my tax dollars also pay for. The US military is a tool used by politicians to generate wealth in their homestates through massive spending and to intimidate other countries into compliance. They are not obliged to protect me personally from harm and I don't expect them to. I take personal responsibility for myself and I will defend myself and my friends and family just as they will defend me.
