This is the exact reason that Lex Luthor keeps superman around. I mean come on, everyone knows that Lex could rack up a clip of kryptonite bullets and pop a cap in The Man of Steel any time he wants, right? But Lex needs superman around. You see as long as superman is around then no matter how many people Lex kills, now matter how horrible his actions the regular cops won't ever come after him. They leave the job up to Superman. And what does Lex get when superman comes calling? A stern lecture. So it's handy for Lex to keep Superman around to make sure he can get away with anything for nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Cops like to set traps there and nail people who are going 55 in the 45 after just being in a 65. So they are slowing down, but they aren't slamming on their brakes. So BAM speeding ticket. Part of the problem is the type of competition between the cell phone companies. If a company came along that said "No Overages, No Roaming, No Long Distance", and their plan was a flat .20 per minute would most people use it? 400 minutes on that plan is 80$. Is that better or worse than paying 39.99 for your 400 minutes with the posibility of being charged .45/minute after that? The flat rate would have to be .10/min in order to equal the package rate. I honestly don't think that it would be a viable business model for a company to charge like that. Of course, that's just the low end plan. For something like a 2000 minute plan, 99.99 for the package. You would be charged 200$ at .10/min. So the price would have to go down further to .5/min to equal the higher end packages.
I'm not sure if that's doable for the companies. I don't know precisely the per minute cost for them to carry a call, but I don't think there would be any profit in that arrangement for them.

And frankly, I like being able to pay 69.99 for 850 peak mins (Shared between 2 lines), with unlimited offpeak and unlimited calling to other cingular customers. I would rather pay that than .5/min because this way almost all of my calls are free. So I just pay the 69.99 and even when we have 2000 mins worth of calls between us, no charges.

They expect this because they pay a monthly fee for their service. Somehow they think that the service doesn't cost Verizon anything to provide them, so their 39.99 a month is pure profit. We make about 1$ per month on each customer in profit. When customers go over their minutes we make more. But if every 8 months we give a phone to that customer that cost us 100$ to get from the manufacturer (And retails for 250) all of a sudden we've paid that customer to use our service. I just want to know why these customers feel like they are entitled to free stuff just because they paid their bill on time? Do cellphone customers in Europe and Japan do that?
