...Office for Mac is so much better than Office for Windows is simply because the Mac platform is much more stable. Just like if Microsoft ever has a Linux Business Unit developing Office for Linux, it too will be more stable the Windows's version. Why? Because Linux will always be much more stable than Windows.
Use Openoffice to open the password protected doc file. Save as another doc file. Hey presto! The password protection feature is gone. It worked for my open-standard-unfriendly digital scroll that came with some souped-up digital signature, it should work for any other documents.
you can also use the "ssh-keygen" command to generate RSA or DSA keys so that the public keys can be stored in the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys. This key generation requires a passphrase to encrypt the key. The advantage is that if we use an empty passphrase, we can ssh into the remote machine without having to key in passwords. In this way, whenever we run the scripts mentioned in the parent post, we dont need to type in the passwords of the machines at all.
Slashdot.... you know what...the real winner of this SCO vs IBM lawsuit is really slashdot because everytime when there's news about SCO, no matter how insignificant or unimportant, it will generate lots and lots of comments. So i'm beginning to suspect if SCO is owned by slashdot. Hell, I'm smoking crack too:P
For enterprise servers, I guess using Red Hat is the preferred choice because:
The tech support Red Hat is able to give. At least when things fscked up, the IT staff is able to point their fingers at Red Hat. Imagine if you install Debian or Slackware and you arent able to solve a problem that crops up. Imagine the steam coming out from your boss's ears.
Most business people tend to to associate Linux with Red Hat, whether we like it or not.
But, unfortunately for techies, Red Hat's way of package installation isnt that great a deal if you wanna use bleeding-edge stuff (most of the time, the only thing bleeding is you what with all the dependency problems). I would highly recommend using Gentoo as your desktop/laptop's OS as every package is actually compiled (optimisation to the max for those who cares) and you still get something like apt-get (they call it emerge instead). Pretty slick.
TV reporter: This is Mr X reporting live from New York giving you the latest updates on the Power Outage. However since most of you can't watch your TV anyway, this news will be rebroadcasted when power comes back on. For now, there is not much news to report. Good night, America (4pm EDT)
Definitely micro$oft. I mean, based on this article in Linux Journal, even micro$uck, i mean micro$oft uses Linux for critical stuff like DNS. Point made.
Since the idea of GPL was conceived by Richard Stallman, will he be called to stand as a witness to explain some of the notions presented in the GPL? It'll be wild if he does:)
Same here. My friends introduced me to mozilla, with its tab-browsing and javascript control and all. Then it began with mandrake, redhat and now it's gentoo with familiar/opie on an IPAQ and a knoppix for a rescue CD. I've learned more in 1 year using Linux than 4 years using Windows. If that is not amazing, what is? The point is, if we wanna show the beauty of open source, Linux, GNU etc, let's all start slow and build onto it. It's about converting, not intimidating. Cheers!
So they weren't in it just for the oil. They want the telco industry too. What next? To force the Iraqis to choose Xbox (M$, USA) over PS2 (Japan)? What happen to 'doing it fer the good of the poor Iraqi people'?
They should use this threat in the next Austin Powers movie. Dr Evil spamming everyone's email with 1 billion ads/spams unless he is paid "1 Million Dollars"
Hei.. if Americans were afraid of Killer bees before, they should have the rights to be afraid of nanotechnology as well.

Does this mean that IBM's Linux advert did had its effect...regardless whether this story is true or false?
Can someone mod the parent up to Score 5:funny...it's really...errr.... funy

All those who work in the White House say: Amen!

Yah...guess M$ close down the power lines in US hoping that Blaster would died of suffocation during the blackout:p
This is a very cheap way of getting mod'ed with lotsa points: SCO sucks. Microsoft sucks. Anything else doesn't:P

No man, I'm slower than you. I'm using Dial-up :p Not!
The posibility of developing people who already hate US to hate microsoft will most likely result in more attacks on M$ in the near future
What's his address? I would like to ask his opinion on getting a taste of his own medicine:P

Illegal Operation: "The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later." How familiar
