I think I had one of those same wire/plastic computers... was it red and white? It basically counted to 8. If anyone can remember the name of the thing I would really appreciate it. Can't think of it for the life of me, but it was my first "computer" as well.
Official sponsors of the Super Bowl get to actually use the words "Super Bowl" in their ads or on their packaging. Everyone else who wants to sell TVs or potato chips or beer for the game usually use the phrase "the big game" since they can't use the SB word...
The issue isn't whether any thrown object has a parabolic path: the original poster said that it has a very obvious parabolic path, which certainly makes it seem that it's not going very fast given the short distance.
Not sure if anyone's pointed out that, even if you properly set up Vonage's 911 service, their terms of service clearly state that you WON'T be connected to the same 911 center as a landline or cell phone...
When you dial 911, your call is routed from the Vonage network to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) or local emergency service personnel designated for the address that you listed at the time of activation. You acknowledge and understand that when you dial 911 from your Vonage equipment it is intended that you will be routed to the general telephone number for the PSAP or local emergency service provider (which may not be answered outside business hours), and may not be routed to the 911 dispatcher(s) who are specifically designated to receive incoming 911 calls using traditional 911 dialing. Vonage relies on third parties for the forwarding of information underlying such routing, and accordingly Vonage and its third party provider(s) disclaim any and all liability or responsibility in the event such information or routing is incorrect. As described herein, this 911-type dialing currently is NOT the same as traditional 911 or E911 dialing, and at this time, does not necessarily include all of the capabilities of traditional 911 dialing.
Even if 1/10th of them were worth displaying (which they're not), that's still too many to put on a single page. And people wonder why The GIMP is still looked down upon...
I started reading the Discovery Channel article and saw they'd make their debut "next year in the film 'Troy.'" And I thought, hey, they just made a movie about Troy, they're going to make another one? Then I saw the June 26, 2003 date of the article. Slow news day I guess.
I think the deal is that it's a LOT easier to just take the digital signal and dump it to disk, rather than taking an analog signal and redigitizing it (with all the corresponding CPU and D/A conversion required to not drop any frames).
Of course, advantage of the analog signal is... no broadcast flag. That's probably the other reason you're not finding any component inputs anywhere...
There are PC and Mac high-end video cards that capture component video, but they start at $500 and go up to thousands.
A movie in compressed divx form is what, 600MB, x100 = 60000MB, or ~60GB in one month.
I like looking at it this way... because then you can compare it (yet again) to NetFlix, which sends me almost 100GB* of better-than-Divx-quality movies per month. With extras. And a way better selection. Etc. etc. etc.
The other thing to keep in mind is that the Academy usually likes people to pay their dues before winning their Oscars. I mean, Spielberg had to wait until Schindler's List before he won: no Jaws, no CE3K, no E.T., no 1942:).
Coppola isn't likely to win until she makes her next great movie. IMO.
the Jet Li movie Hero (set to be officially released in North America in April 2004).
Yeah, I believe that one. Shaolin Soccer was supposed to have come out this past summer... saw trailers for it during Bend It Like Beckham and saw movie posters for it hanging in theaters. Has it been released theatrically here? No. Even if it had been, it was going to be a highly-edited version.
That's why people end up having to buy things like Hero "illegally." In fact, I think I'll go order a copy right now... before Miramax tells eBay to cease and desist...
If the Windows version is identical to the Mac version, just select the downloaded AAC songs in your library, then go to the menu Advanced->Convert Selection to MP3
This is only true if the AAC isn't protected. If it is, iTunes won't do the conversion for you.
However, there are plenty of workarounds on the Mac that don't require burning a CD, and I imagine there are similar ones on the PC.

Namely, putting all 666+ splash images ON A SINGLE PAGE! http://www.mukund.org/temp/gimp/judge/all.php

That's the regular edition; the extended edition doesn't ship until Nov 18th.
