  1. Non-Mutation Split on Butterfly Unlocks Evolution Secret · · Score: 4, Interesting

In higher order animals, such as Orcas, behavioral differences can bring about the separation into two species. There are two distinct groups of Orcas, those which hunt fish and those which hunt seals. These two behaviors are fairly different, as fish hunting Orcas herd schools of fish to make consuming them easier. Seal hunting orcas are know to "dive" several feet onto ice flows to catch seals. They also thrash seals around in the water to subdue them. These two groups do not mix as their learned behaviors and sub-environs are different. It is easy to imagine that these two groups are slowly diverging, as they engage in different diets, breed within their own groups and engage in different physical activities.

Is it the lists fault that spammers deliver at such a rate that the replies from the system deliver at a higher rate and DDOS their machines?

Vader realizes his hopes of taking over as the new Emperor aren't going to happen because Luke just isn't good enough to pull it off, and he cracks.

When did he realize this, before or after Luke removed his hand and placed him in the same prone position as Anakin placed Dooku? Sure, the Emperor took him down fairly quickly, but that was after Luke threw his Lightsaber away and presented himself defenseless to the Emperor. Well, not defenseless. He had the most powerful weapon in the universe not a yard away from him in the form of his father.

I came away with this. Anakin never had control of his life and never had personal responsibility. He went from a slave on Tatooine to Obi-Wan's padawan. He was always able to use his talent to get him out of the tough spots, but he never learned that his raw talent needed to be tempered by skill and focus. He lost to Dooku in their first battle because he leaned on talent and power. In their second battle, he tells Dooku he has grown powerful not how he has grown more skillfull.

Once he turns to the dark side, he returns to being a slave and he still relys on his power as a crutch. He is Cerebus on a giant chain guarding the doors to the Empire. Anakin fights Obi-wan the same way he fought Dooku. Unless you believe in luck, a clearly less powerful but more skilled warrior won that battle. Anakin is like any young adult. He does not think, he believe's himself to be invincible and he suffers from a monumental case of hubris.

Finally, in that throne room aboard the Deathstar, he makes his first conscious, responsible decision. He looks back on his life and realizes where he went wrong. He remembers the goading by Palaptine that drove him to destroy Dooku. He sees his son at much the same age, who grew up much the same way and had much less training than himself face the same situation and make the same choice. He finally realizes true strength, because his son shows it to him. Why does he return from the dark side of the force? Because he makes the right decision and makes the ultimate sacrifice for that decision. In his final moments, he does save Padme in the form of their son.

Maybe my rose colored glasses need adjusting, but I think that is closer to what the Lucas was thinking. Just my two cents, take it or flush it.

    Consider this.

Darth Tyranus (Dooku) slices off Anakin's hand. Anakin battles Tyranus in Palpatine's (the Emperor) presence. He is goaded into using his anger, the Dark Side, to defeat Tyranus. He slices off both of Tyranus' hands. He then executes Tyranus, though he can sense how wrong it is.

Darth Vader (Anakin) slices off Luke's hand. Luke battles Vader in the Emperor's (Palapatine) presence. He is goaded into using his anger, the Dark Side, to defeat Vader. He slices off one of Vader's hands. But he resists the urge to execute Vader.

That is where the true continuity came in to play, IMHO. It is also the beginning of Anakin's fall. I did not find Anakin's turn to be sudden, but a result of his actions throughout the movie. It is just my opinion, however.

You may think it is stupid, but as a gamer and a consumer, I like to think the company making my game system and writing my games is in it for more than just profit. Yes, I know it is naive, but for the sake of the exercise, bear with me.

Microsoft is a software company looking to create marketshare in a new venue. They are also trying to set up a trojan horse for their MCE initiative.

Sony is a hardware company that is producing cheap razors so they can sell the hell out of the blades. The blades being games, memory sticks and new media formats. Where someone may feel like a brick, Sony is the proverbial wall. Oh yeah, do not forget the media center addition of PS2 (was it PStwo?)

Nintendo, on the other hand, has always professed themselves a gaming company who builds hardware and writes software with the express goal of gaming. This comment from a Nintendo Exec is far from stupid. It is actually very astute. It simultaneously communicates their coporate stance and blasts a competitor for engaging in practices that are harmful to the industry. Quite elegant, actually. Of course, I am probably a fan boy for saying that.

The point is, Nintendo has a niche market carved out, and to be in that niche, they have to appear as the gaming company who is in it for the gamers. They are the Apple of the gaming environment. Of course, DS is a trojan horse for Revolution if you believe Reggie Fils-Aime-Whatever-His-Name-Is-With-A-Hyphen and others have been saying. It is right before the beginning of section III. Note the figure, which women with and women without children have very similar wage ratios with men. Yes, the women without have a higher ratio, but just slightly. They are quite equal in my view.
However, gains in average pay have been greatest for married women with children (see figure 5).
I think this "de-circularizes" my logic. There is a shrinking correlation between motherhood and income level. I ceed the possibility that less women are staying home to raise their children, so they are not hit as hard at work for not "putting in the time," but that is another can of worms. There are all sorts of factors not contained there, like education level, that would tell a different story. Just more information for the table. Take it as you will.
