Business since 1981. I remember in the mid 80's, the "paperwork reduction" act came along. My volumes went UP. Recently, 2010? the HIPAA law came long...volumes at one hospital went up about 8%. As long as we have LAWYERS & GOVERNMENT, there WILL be paperwork. Otherwise look at the countless millions that are paperwork shufflers that would be out of a job!

  2. Ford Taurus SHO on Tesla 'Easter Egg' Makes the World's Fastest Car Even Faster (bloomberg.com) · · Score: 1

In the mid 80's, my dad was still an automobile dealer. Ford released the SHO version of the Taurus. This was in the midwest, small town that they lived in. A guy buys one from my dad. About a month later, middle of January, cold as all get out, he brings it in for an oil change or something. My dad asked him what he thought of it. He handed my dad the keys and said take it for a spin. Now, my dad at the time, was in his late 50's, gray hair, middle of winter, big huge fur hat, gloves, overcoat. He heads down the state highway south of town. He said a kid in a 70's Camero came up behind him, and when they hit a straight stretch, the camero went to pass. Dad stepped on the gas and blew him away. Slowed down and the Camero did it again, trying to pass, dad blew him away. On the 3rd try my dad just let him go...he said when he passed, he honked, flipped him off. Said his girlfriend was laughing. My guess is he took his car to have it checked. "I just got blown away by some old man in a 4 door family car". Those SHO's back then, the only way you knew what it was, was to look closely at the SHO impression molded into the side moldings.

I have pretty good luck with "most" VoIP systems, as long as their ATA's have the T.38 protocols by pretty much dumbing down the fax to just a plain ole G3, disabling any short protocols, setting the compression to MH/MMH and a few other settings, but once in a while, you'll get the one or two numbers it just will not work with. The biggest complaint is "the lines of words look like a barcode" from dropped packet/noise.

  8. Re:Encryption for email on US Internet Firms Ask Trump To Support Encryption, Ease Regulations (reuters.com) · · Score: 1

Yeah, but what is the issue is similar to what I went through in the 80's... Then, people used "messenger" services. We couldn't get doctors or pharmacies to switch to fax..."But I've always used a messenger service". Then when email became popular, couldn't get them to switch to email. "but I've always used a fax machine". The courts accepting a fax helped a lot, but the medical community is paranoid of the HIPAA law. I had one I.T. guy tell me his hospital still had (this was about 5 years ago) 2500 pairs of copper just for fax lines. I asked why they didn't switch to scan to email. He said they couldn't "guarantee" the safety of an email, especially if someone typed in the wrong address, OUTSIDE of their intranet. He said once it goes OUTSIDE their network... I know there has to be some sort of universal way to do it, but for whatever reason, I see a TON of medical types that are scared to death of reaping the wrath of the HIPAA police. Shoot, they tried to tag me for a HIPAA violation about 7 years ago...still using a FLIP PHONE I took a photo of a bunch of jammed up paper in a machine, and they said the documents were patient information, which constitutes a HIPPA violation. Ok, think back to the cameras on phones 7 years ago. I THINK it might have been a 2megapixel.

  10. Encryption for email on US Internet Firms Ask Trump To Support Encryption, Ease Regulations (reuters.com) · · Score: 1

How about a standard encryption for email, to comply with HIPAA, so the stupid FAX MACHINES will DIE OFF. Been working on them, printers, photocopiers, computers for over 35 years and with VoIP sometimes it's almost impossible to get fax machines to work with VoIP. Some healthcare agencies I have to deal with WILL NOT authorize Fax to email or anything other than a straight fax machine or fax MFP. 9600-14.4k bps is about the max you can get. People are use to attaching a 30-40 page file to email, complain how long it takes to fax a 30 page fax....PLEASE, standardize email encryption, make it where these stupid antiques called fax machines can go the way of the telegram.

Between the Clinton Crime Foundation, the Arkansas Mafia, illegal alien voters, multiple voters, dead voters, 99% of the media, the majority of the establishment Republicans, she's gonna be the next president. Personally, I think the only reason Trump got into the race in the first place, was because Bill Clinton, whom he had a meeting with BEFORE even running for the nomination, was probably told "or else". With the stupidity of "celebrity-ism" in this country, and, saying what people have WANTED a politician to say, the media goes along and pretty much only covers Trump, not giving any other candidate a chance. Trump has been a liberal pretty much his entire life. Gives to liberal causes, backs liberal candidates, even said "Hillary will make a great senator" when she ran for the NY senate seat. Heck, on Wednesday, it would not surprise me, if Trump say "I never wanted to be president anyway" and then laughs as he and the democrats destroyed what's left of the GOP. But, I can tell you living here in the midwest, there are a TON of people that have HAD IT with Washington DC. They push it even more with a uber socialist like Hillary, and there will be another bloody civil war in this nation. Oh, I'm sure they will try to get the guns, but, what it will do is cause our government to kill it's citizens to get them, because they aren't gonna give em up. Boy, I really feel sorry for this nation in the next few years, regardless of who wins. One thing, if Hillary wins, the markets and the global economy have been propped up by "money printing" and should go into another depression. Guess who gets the blame? The president...pretty much regardless if it is their fault or not. Personally, I'd like to see the entire citizen population opt for an Article 5 convention of states, repeal the 17th amendment, put the election of senators BACK into the hands of the state legislators, as it was intended. Citizens HAVE a voice in DC, the House of Representatives. The states were to elect the senators, who would give voice to the states in DC. That balance was upset with the 17th amendment. We have gone so far off the kilter, to what the Constitution says government is suppose to be that people are AFRAID of government, and, it should be THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Making them look like a traditional roof, allows them to blend in without being an eyesore. If the price is competitive, and they can handle the weather like we have here in the midwest (tornado, hail), then this might make it easier to get people to switch to a more enviro-friendly power option. I have NO PROBLEM with alternative energy, as long as the government doesn't force it upon people, and it is competitive with traditional sources.
