  1. Mother nature on Plants Near Chernobyl Adapt To Contaminated Soil · · Score: 2, Insightful

Amazing how mother nature always seems to adapt to whatever man throws at it. And people still continue to say we can blow up the world. Earth took hits from asteroids, wiped out the critters, adapted, evolved and moved on. Same thing with any pollution.

Settlement awards like this! You want to know why when you go to the doctor for "chest pains", and it ends up being nothing more than a bad case of heart burn, that they wanted to do MRI, Cat scans, dye marker tests, stress tests etc etc, THIS is why. Doctors are scared to death of being sued for something they might miss. Too many ambulance chasing slip & fall lawyers will sue on the drop of a hat. Drug makers have to charge a hefty fee for their drugs, because they have to have a built in profit margin, to cover themselves in the event of a lawsuit, if their drug causes a severe reaction or death. Even if it is 1 in a million, you've seen the ads on TV. "If you or a loved one took drug x, you may be "entitled" to compensation". Crap like that drives the costs of everything up. Slip & fall on a wet spot in a business, and the ambulance chasers come out of the woodwork. I think it was Shakespeare who once said "kill all the lawyers". THAT would be a good start!

  6. NO! on WikiLeaks Set To Release Unpublished Iraq War Docs · · Score: 1, Insightful

We do not live in a democracy. Never have. We (USA) are a representative republic. The founding fathers NEVER wanted us to be a pure democracy because of the chaos that happens from being a "mob rule" type of government. The problem we have now, in my opinion, is that the representatives do not represent the people, but represent those that contribute the most money, namely corporations, special interest etc. Until the money is taken out of politics, it will not change. Why do you have people spending MILLIONS per election cycle, on a job that pays less than 200,000.00 per year? Easy...POWER! They crave the power the government, through their interpretation of the constitution gives them. Take away that power, and you'll see a lot of them give up that job. The easiest way to take away their power is to completely overhaul the tax code. How to do that? ELIMINATE the IRS via a flat tax, consumption tax or some other means that CANNOT be tinkered with. Each year, millions of Americans spend tons of money trying to figure out the massive tax code. Eliminate that, you'll see hidden money return to America, and investment in America rise.

Look for more stories like this, to get the (stupid) public thinking you only need so much money. Then it will make it easier for the government to TAKE more from the wealthy, and "spread the rest" around to those that don't have money (those that refuse to get a job, those that are flat out stupid, those that only want a job, where there are no jobs in the first place etc. What anyone makes is "the American dream". Work hard and you (usually) get rewarded. I know I put in extra hours, sometimes on weekends, and I am rewarded more for it. That is how it works. You bums out there need to get up off of your lazy butts, quit playing wii all night long and quit screwing around. This also includes the welfare breeders who pop out a new kid every 12-18 months.

You can probably guess that these people sit alone, virgins, in the basements of houses all over the world, and their only outlet in life is going to a star trek or star wars convention to see some old has been actor. The funniest movie ever made was the pun of star trek/wars movies "Galaxy Quest". You can spot these geeks miles away, wearing pointed ears, black glasses with tape over the middle. The reason I have passed on ALL of the iPhones so far is I don't buy into the hype, not to mention a LOCKED OS. Hey, if you just pick up a phone to use it, then perhaps the iPhone is for you, but, if you are a "tinker" type, I don't see how the iPhone would be good. Even given all of the faults with WinMobile, at least you can hack it til the cows come home. The way I look at it is it is MY phone, and I'll screw around with it how I want to. I don't like "locked" phones. My current phone, HTC Rhodium (Tilt2) never even had the stock OS fired up. I told the guy at the at&t store that I would set it up later (since I already had a Touch Pro). Took it home, unlocked it, wiped out the stock OS and put one from XDA-Developers on it and tweaked it exactly how I wanted.
