    Seriously, I don't need multiple mouse buttons on the touchpad - with Apple's touchpad, you can tap with 2 fingers and it's like a rightclick. Move with 2 fingers on the touchpad, and it's like a scrollwheel, in all directions.

    That beats a right mouse touchpad button any day.

    Well:

    1 - if fdisk can see a partition type, it doesn't mean you can do anything with it in Linux. This is fdisk, its job is to read the partition table and modify it, with any recognized partition type

    2 - there is a befs driver for linux (not bfs, but befs), it's read-only AFAIK

    3 - even once you can read and mount a befs partition in Linux, that doesn't give you any of the BeFS power until you have applications that can take advantage of it - therefore, you would need to have them all written.

    except that it uses the IE engine by default on almost every site, so to say that you're at risk from the FF1.0 holes without considering all the IE holes.. well.. lol

    actually it's the opposite. You have to spend most of your time switching FROM the IE engine to Gecko.. for some reason it almost always defaults to IE

    id ytou think CTS is only pain and discomfort, you are severely mistaken. It starts like that. Then if you don't get it treated and don't improve your conditions, you'll end up being unable to use your hands properly, losing all grip strength. So read about these things before posting stupid comments.

    Well Call to Power have special units, like clerics or televangelists that can convert other cities to your religion, sell indulgences, soothsay, etc. Ecoterrorists that kill important figures to cause unhappiness, plant nanovirus that destroys every non-living thing. Infectors that send plagues into cities. Ecorangers that have one goal: transform a polluting city into a lovely park, killing and destroying everyone/everything in the city. and so on....

    Palm does NOT own BeOS. The deal hasn't been accepted yet by the shareholders. We will know for certain on Nov. 12th, when there will be a special shareholders meeting.

    As for BeOS itself, check out http://www.befaqs.com/save or http://www.beunited.org . There are efforts to get Palm to license BeOS itself (which they have no intention of using, they only bought the Be Engineers remember? so they could build a new PalmOS).

    That may be all good and well (taking into consideration what others said already...)

    But what about dynamic ip addresses? Most of the scans I get are from such connections... so if I would send my logs to dshields, they would log this ip as an attacker? unreasonable... that's like saying I'm the serial murderer because I sat in the same seat he did a few weeks ago in the bus...

    Not to mention that there is (was?) an effort to
    also port GNUstep to WinNT... Thereby compensating
    for Apple's murder of Yellow Box ;)

    So you've got the same source code that compiles on UNIX, Linux, *BSD, NT, MacOS X, OPENSTEP, with very little modifications to the source and the Makefiles (which are by far the easiest makefiles I've ever seen, since GNUstep takes care of everything...

    A developer's dream, that is finally coming true!

    Oh really? Did you try downloading Solaris 8?

    The Free dot-COM download rapidly turns into a
    75$ US purchase without explanation.

    I eventually found out a little FAQ explaining why: "oh, it would take too long for people to download cd images, so we removed the downloads".

    If you search for BeWine, you will find a port of X11R6.3 and X11R6.4 for BeOS (bewine.loungenet.net or something like that).

    You can also check out GeekGadges, at http://www.ninemoons.com - I think they're the ones porting X...

    Also look on bebits.com, they're the 'freshmeat.net' of the BeOS world :)

    There was one such browser I heard about a few years ago.. It came from Québec, IIRC, and it could translate text on the fly from a webpage and display it in the chosen language... I can't remember the name though, and I don't even know if it still exists..
