If you're referring to Saruman (he's the only Maia I remember being killed by Hobbits) then you'll remember that he was no longer powerful at that point. He'd been stripped off all his power once Gandalf returned and destroyed his staff. And if my memory serves correctly, Saruman was stabbed by Wormtongue, who was then shot with an arrow by a Hobbit.

The serpent told Eve, "you positively will not die." Eve died. So to cover the lie, the idea came about that you live on forever as a floaty soul thingy. Souls are a lie.

Wow, way to take that out of context. The serpent said she wouldn't die if she ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge. God told her she would. God of course was right. Sure, it wasn't an immediate death, but they could no longer live in God's grace. By sinning (eating the fruit) she separated herself and all of mankind from God. It would take Christ's sacrifice to bring mankind back to God. By dying for the sins of man, we are given the gift of everlasting life. "He who believes in me will not die". I'm sure that quote isn't quite right, but the gist of it is there. If you believe in God and Christ as your saviour, you will not die. Your physical body will stop functioning, but your soul will live on forever.

Had Eve not eaten of the fruit, mankind would have never left God's grace and she would have been immortal. Or maybe you'd rather believe the serpent (Satan) over the almighty God?

Sorry, but I just can't see a lot of people going out to buy a PS3 just to watch Blu-Ray movies. By the time it gets released, HD-DVD could easily have taken over the market, especially at the price point the players will be at.

I guess we'll both have to wait and see what happens when the PS3 comes out, but I just don't see it taking over the market of hi-def players.

My sisters boyfriend has a setup similar to yours except that everytime someone picks up the phone, his signal is dropped completely. He use to be downstairs (the DSL line and switch are on the 2nd floor) and that would happen all the time. I offered to run a cable down to the room (there was already a cable in the room above him, which use to be my room), but my dad insisted that wireless would be fine and that he probably just needed a new wireless card (that part turned out to be true).

Fast forward a couple of years. He's now upstairs, in my old room, and my dad was still saying that he can just use the wireless. There's a cable, IN THE CLOSET, 15 feet from his computer, but "it won't look as good". Finally, last night, I took the cable and pushed it under the carpet and ran it to his computer. The only piece you can see is where it goes to his computer and where it comes out from the floor into the closet. I was going to run it down the wall and put in a real jack, but it gets hot in the attic (I won't run cable in the summer, that's how hot it gets).

Now he doesn't have to deal with anymore dropped connections since he has a wired connection now. The only place in the house that doesn't have those problems is the family room and kitchen. Of course, they're not in a direct line from the 2.4 GHz phone to the WAP, so that's probably why they work fine. The point is that a wireless connection doesn't work for everyone (I changed channels on the wireless card several times with no luck and it had to be set for "auto" wireless speed or it just wouldn't work). I recently bought a 5.8 GHz cordless phone for this exact reason.

Anywhere I can run cables, I do it, whether it's "convenient" or not.

Mind you I've never been there, so this may not be 100% accurate. I don't live close enough to justify spending that much, plus the drive time (I'm 30-45 mins away from Hollywood) to make it worth my while. If there was a theater like that in Orange County, I'd probably go to it all the time without a second thought. The only theater I've ever gone to on a consistent basis is Big Newport in Newport Beach for their midnight screenings. Of course, at a midnight screening, you don't usually have to worry about cell phones and crying kids since the people that go at midnight know better.

The only time I had it happen where it took just 1 day for the funds to be withdrawn was when I deposited a check at a different credit union then the one I have an account at. Credit Union to credit union transactions seem to take place faster than bank to credit union transactions.

Of course now, the funds are probably transferred instantly, even though the credit unions and banks will still tell you "there may be a delay of a few days before the funds are deposited" unless it's a rebate or payroll check. So it's really a one way street now. You deposit a third party check, you still have to wait a few days to get your money, even though the bank has it in their vault almost instantly.

I've worked in sales, and because I have a firm grasp of sales psychology I can typically close sales (it took 3 other salesmen combining their sales to beat me once and they only beat me by a fraction of a percent).
I've worked in retail, and because I can multitask like a well designed Unix Daemon, I could work multiple registers simultaneously (during Xmas season it's often quicker to do it yourself than explain to a temp worker for the nth time how to do something).

Well hello mister fancy pants. So instead of helping the temp worker to actually learn how to operate the cash register (and therefore increase their skillset), you do it for them. This doesn't help anybody and you make the temp look like a moron. Maybe they are stupid, maybe not. But doing that doesn't help them to learn how to do it. Hell, talking them through it would be better than just doing it for them. Or maybe you just like to do twice the work for no extra pay? I wonder how the boss felt about having a temp standing there doing nothing, and being paid, while his other worker did all the work. It only takes longer until the temp gets the hang of it. But I guess you were born knowing how to operate a cash register and never had to be trained yourself. Yeah, I didn't think so.

As for the sales thing, I won't even touch it. I hate sales people. I've never worked in sales specifically but I worked a few years in retail and they teach all about the psychology of store layout when you work in retail (candy goes near the checkout because it's an impulse buy item and most people won't buy it unless they're on their way out the door). When I was at Blockbuster, returns, and the video lookup system, were on the exact opposite side of the store from the entrance. Most people will come in and walk around the new release wall, probably grabbing a movie or two along the way, before they get to the returns stack. That's why that's done. Anyway, the point is that the psychology of retail sales is probably similar to the psychology of a sales person. The object is to get the person that walks through that door to buy something by the time they leave. It doesn't work on most of us because we probably went to that store for one specific item and we aren't likely to buy anything else except that item.

Or maybe it was because of your defensive response. Ever try just saying "No thanks" calmly and politely? I do that every time and I rarely make eye contact (mostly because I'm in the right area and I'm concentrating on finding what I need). If you look confused (and let's face it, anyone that's not looking directly at what they're going to buy looks confused to them), they're going to ask you that.
