IMHO there is a simple solution to their actions. They are to release their code into public domain, they are to refund 100% of the funds that they gained from Windows to the users that actually bought it (no receipts required, just the package and the key), and they will no longer be able to profit from any of their CURRENT products.
This will never happen and anything short of this is worthless.
Plus his statement that it has only taken 3 SPs? Who the hell cares how many it has taken? As long as it is getting closer to being secure. People run Windows. People who use Windows are less likely to know-how, or care-to-know-how to install patches for their OS.

At least my roommate, my parents, and my gf know (from me) not to open attachments. But educate a WIDE group of people? That's just not going to happen and you know it.
At the local video store here I pay $6.00 for 3 DVDs. Sure, it's only for 24h, but that's three movies, a 6 min round-trip drive, and 24h.
Instead, w/this god-awful idea, I would have to waste X-amount of hours downloading a movie, sit on my COMPUTER and watch it, and then it is still only good for 24h.
Ok. I download a TON of DVD-Rips from Kazaa. I have a TV-out card to my VCR's RCA inputs. I *could* tape these... Why? I can download the movies faster, rent them faster and CHEAPER.

They want to push for 3.0 as a marketing tool, yet most companies that would even consider deploying Linux wouldn't be concerned w/the kernel version #'s. They are going to be concerned w/the distribution version #'s.
After all, their support is probably going to come from the distribution manu, not IRC or a mailing list.
The poor ranking of the United States (17th) is mainly because of the number of journalists arrested or imprisoned there. Arrests are often because they refuse to reveal their sources in court. Also, since the 11 September attacks, several journalists have been arrested for crossing security lines at some official buildings.
Crossing security lines at official buildings is illegal. I don't see how being prosecuted for this is such an important factor in the descision.
While I feel that reporters should not be prosecuted for refusal to reveal sources, the crossing of SECURE LINES is ridiculous.
I would also like to point out that the US is in the 10th position as the other countries were tied for their spots.

He says that such devices are practically non-sense. Changing CERTAIN devices related to HVAC will save you $200 to $500 over a 10-15 year period. There is NO way to save much more in large buildings (which this device seems to).
You are going to have to pay for new equipment to save then you are going to have to watch the savings over the years after the equipment is changed.

I use Brushed Metal for my theme. It's clean. I have no graphics in my background (a holdover from my 256 color, 800x600, 8 bit days using a laptop). I have 2 virtual desktops. One's for Mozilla, the other's for whatever else (again a hold over from when I was using dual heads).
I don't need keyboard shortcuts, and I can easily cut and paste back and forth between the web and my other windows.
I like it simple, but "ratpoison" reminds me of Desqview/X (which went away for a reason).
I will keep screen on the console where it belongs and use X like *I* believe it was supposed to be used.

I think the point is that a typically "easy to use" distribution is going to come w/Office working out of the box.
It's just one step closer to what SOME of the Linux community want, easy to use desktop, easy transition from Windows, full Office support.
Downloading a product, installing said product, and getting it to work, are not the easiest things for most to do. This is what you are missing.

you have to dump the proxy. It's only for registration purposes. Otherwise you will get the error "you are being blocked by the SAS proxy".

sorry but I use Chicago Style notation. RTF does NOT handle these correctly. Thus, RTF is broken and not what I want to convert my docs into.
