    I don't want to use quarters. In fact, I *hate* the fact that I have to keep all this loose change around in order to do my laundry.

    Laundry has become SO expense recently it isn't worth NOT using a CC. I have to sink in $1.00 to wash and $1.50 to dry (really .75 but one cycle never does the job).

    Then the washer/dryer people wouldn't have to go around and empty the damn things. That would make their lives almost too easy.

    Now, if they put in some video games that take CC's I will be there. Golden Tee just better never do it or I would be more broke from that addictive piece of shit than now ;)

    I absolutely *love* the U-Scan. I don't have to wait in long lines for a person to check me out, I don't have to fool around w/waiting for someone to bag it and then having to do it anyway.

    I just walk into the line, scan my groceries, scan my credit card (yeah I know, privacy concerns, but I hate cash), and I am out the door.

    There is one problem w/it though. Most people who go to the store see the U-Scan and think "wow, how easy!" These are normally 70 year olds (grandmothers mostly) who cannot figure out (for the life of them) how to scan their own items. I usually end up doing it for them to keep the line moving.

    The hell w/human interaction. I want speed and efficiency. I do it better than the checkers do and w/o having to wait in line for a year.

    most schools offer a seriously REDUCED rate for students purchasing MS Office.

    It can only be installed twice or something but usually costs around $10. Even if you have to install it more than twice, at $10 you are still having major savings.

    I haven't used MS Word much until recent when I started doing massive resume/cover letters. Businesses DO NOT appreciate text only formats unless they SPECIFICALLY ask for them.

    Abiword has done wonders for me.

    I never said that they WERE being a bully. I said MS was. You are twisting words.

    In fact, what I said was, at this time they don't seem like they are. Who the fuck knows what we are going to think in 10-15 years. That's what I said.

    Connected or not we will NEVER know until the future what is going to happen. I am not unhappy w/their practices, nor do I think that they have even gotten close to breaking any laws. I just think that it is QUITE possible for them to be setting something up for the future.

    10 or 15 years ago I didn't see MS bullying people, most didn't. I don't believe RedHat is now either but how much do we really know?

    We only know what others want us to know.

    it IS possible and it IS happening. As you said, "in the corporate world, but damn, they have earned it".

    While I agree that their marketing is exceptional (compared to other vendors) why are you letting it go? Why aren't you pushing for another vendor? Are you letting them slip in like MS did?

    They went unnoticed as a bully.

    (note: Check my previous post, I am not against RedHat, I am just against your particular comment about them).

    They are powerful in the distribution market, they are innovators, they use powerful marketing, and they run an EXTREMELY popular shop.

    Do I believe that they try to inhibit freedom and choice? Do I believe that they are looking to corner the Linux market solely for themselves? Do I feel that they are ending my ability to use Linux as *I* see fit? Do I believe that they are going to create terribly expensive and prohibitive licensing?

    No. I don't think that they are going to do anything of the sort. I believe that they are creating a positive spin on Linux and I believe they are doing it properly (at least for now).

    Once they start pissing EVERYONE off, breaking the law, and breaking the GPL then I will think again. Until then I will happily stick w/Debian and let RedHat do their marketing thing with the "suits".

    I have an older PDA (Cassiopeia E-125). It has a single CF slot (as from what I read does this machine).

    I have been recently excited about getting a wireless CF LAN card (after rebate they are in the $35 - $40 range at BestBuy and Circuit City). Problem here is that the machine itself comes w/little on-board space and my large storage comes from ANOTHER CF card.

    So, without two CF card slots (I always found laptops w/only one PCMCIA slot annoying as well) this machine is not very good for any sort of Internet connection.

    When the machines come w/1G on board or a second CF slot for my Microdrive, I will make another PDA purchase.

    I have roadrunner. I have had DSL (two places), I have had ethernet at school, and I have had 56k.

    I have found that even though I might have MONSTER bandwith (with RR mostly) I have SHIT pings. I don't even bother to play anymore.

    At least when I was on 56k playing Q1 I had a STEADY 185 ping (crctf.quake.erols.com) and I could actually do rather well. Now, w/broadband I have ping spikes and I am normally 80ms behind everyone else.

    I would have rather played 56k back in 1997 than 3mbs in 2002.

    I *refuse* to play new online games like Q3. I hate the way lag "feels". No longer do I actually seem like I am moving slower. In fact you feel as if nothing has changed yet to other players you are in fact standing still.

    It is VERY annoying to have sudden lag and see players hopping around on the screen. Explain to me how the hell you are supposed to compensate for that?

    We need to go back to the way Q1 felt as far as lag was concerned. At least that way you could at least learn to adjust to the speed of your connection and change your aim accordingly.

    of course they support the war on drugs.

    I posted a comment a couple of weeks back and was BLASTED for (god forbid) my support of Marijuana (and I am not talking about legalization for public consumption).

    People have been some inundated w/incorrect facts and bullshit from worthless, money wasting programs like DARE that they don't know the truth.

    We support drugs like Oxy and Morphine, yet we have a problem allowing the use of Marijuana for medicinal purposes b/c that may show people that the government thinks Marijuana is ok.

    OXY AND MORPHINE ARE VERY DANGEROUS DRUGS.

    I have seen people on Oxy (for recreation only) and on Morphine (for medicinal only). It is NOT something I could say is even ok for medicinal use.

    I have used Marijuana and I am around Marijuana smokers daily. They are NOT as wasted as "legal" medicinal drugs are and the benefits have been shown to be nearly the same.

    The public believes crime to be drugs. Drugs like marijuana supposedly foster more crime. Get fucking real.

    If I want to sit in my apartment all day and get baked off my ass I am SO less likely to go out and steal, raise hell, and drive a car. You feed me some alcohol and I am TWICE as likely to drive a car (Taco Bell calls at 2:00am), raise hell (stealing signs off buildings for use in my own home), and run around in the streets naked yelling obscenities.

    But you know what? I am just a drug addict pot smoker, I am biased.

    there's a simple reason why it shouldn't matter if they ask it or not.

    If you are in training you are there for just that. You are not there to argue w/the guy (I hate those people) nor are you there to attempt to add external material (they are there to teach you, not TOWA). Take your time off work or your stipend or whatever they give you for the training, enjoy not being at your desk, and STFU.

    IMHO radio sucks every which way. I have yet to find a decent radio station that plays not only what I want to hear, when I want to hear it, but w/o commercials.

    I am so sick of having to rummage through the channels to find something decent. I don't want talk, I don't want teeny-bopper garbage, and I certainly don't want to hear 80s (they're dead, let them die peacefully).

    yup cheaper to buy a HD. I can't fill up a HD, take it out, and put in another one for $7.

    I have a 10G and a 20G HD in here. They are both hurting bad. Between SHN music and AVIs I am toast on space.

    I would love to have a DVD burner and have two movies per DVD to play later. That would make my life a lot easier. I wouldn't have to be sitting there counting the MBs like I was still using my 44mb drive in 1991.

    your post was not really all that funny. In fact, I can't even find one floppy in my house in order to make a bootdisk when I need one (most of the time the machine that crashes is my circa 1996 Dell Laptop which doesn't support boot CD).

    DVD's are really nice for recording. My biggest problem though is the lack of standard and the lack of support in older DVD players (especially cheap ones).

    My DVD player will play VCDs (but not CDRs, CDRWs, or any recordable DVDs). What's the point? If I shell out $400+ for a recorder am I going to be stuck w/something that I am only going to be able to use on limited hardware? Will we have to forever deal w/this?

    yeah, I just bought a 2002 Saturn SL for $9995 - trade in. It was on TV, I went to Saturn and I bought the new car.

    If it wasn't on TV I wouldn't have known. That is just one particular ad. I had a Saturn previously (this is #4 actually) and I pay more attention to that.

    When I see an ad for product X I don't care. Just the stuff I use on a day to day basis.

    I guess it doesn't work for everyone.

    yeah, everyone wants this. Would it be safe to implement and would it be smart to implement?

    I much prefered this when it wasn't a TV show that was on all the time. When it was a once a year deal that I read about it was exciting to see.

    Now all the bots are terribly boring, the obstacles are boring, and it's not football.

    you're wrong.

    No matter what FREE always beats anything that costs money.

    Sure, people are still buying CDs in stores and downloading from P2P but the problem w/your proposition is simple. It's too much money. I guess even if they were close estimates, you are way off.

    MOST new CDs come out and are charged around $10 to $12. I get the quality that I expect and I don't have to deal w/downloading it, burning it, and possibly storing it on my computer to burn it again later.

    This method would only work if the actual album beat out the cost of a total album at the store. Free > anything.

    I really think you are completely wrong here.

    #1, you shouldn't be allowed to register "all the mis-spellings you can think of". You should have to be a valid non-profit organization.

    #2, it is obvious to me that the purpose of your buying these domains is to be annoying. There is absolutely no valid reason to have a "misspelling" registered other than to be a pain in the ass.

    I registered lazylightning.org with my friend. It's a Grateful Dead reference. We are actually non-profit. It's not a misspelling and it isn't for any reason other than for me to have a webpage and valid name to ssh to.

    If I have to start paying $100 just to stop idiots like you from registering shit that would make me even MORE annoyed than I already am about the prices.

    It's people like you that ruin it for the rest of us.
