Except for all the times that it didn't, of course.

We'd all be better off today with less police and more tar and feathers. Except for those getting tarred and feathered. Maybe. They still might be better off than being thrown into the rape cafe.

    OK. Lemme try on:

You installed a bunch of open source software all over the place, removing Windows, Unix, and or Novell. (Probably Windows.) Your documentation is, admittedly, less than complete. You, admittedly, have scripts running here and there, which are also likely less than documented. You also are doing a job that should take a month, bringing a new admin up to speed on your (literally) custom built network, in a day.

And your primary concern is (and I quote):

I'm trying to cover all my bases so any excuse my replacement has to call me is seen as nothing but laziness or incompetence.

If I was your boss, I'd fire you and might consider bringing you up on charges of interfering with government property. What, is your name Terry Childers? Probably not. He at least was trying to do a good job. You're just the sort of tool that gives Linux users and computer guys in general a bad name.

The best practice for leaving an IT position? You should start by improving your attitude.

I had a very good friend who was on the steps of the capitol at the fall of MiloÅeviÄ. She told the story of the police arriving. She said, "The boys were in front and ready to fight, and we girls in back were ready to die and bandage them up. But then, the police put their guns down and joined us. That's when we knew we won."

So yeah, it sometimes happens and there's a happy ending.

I expect that the very best education comes from nuns. I found that Catholic school prepared me for the real world far better than my public school counterparts. Catholic school students learned more and were better at applying their learning to real world situations.

If it weren't for the anti-Catholic bias in America society (a bias that rivals that of African Americans: and I can easy prove it. 40% of American is Catholic, but we've had only 1 Catholic President, whereas 13% of America is African American, and we've had only 1 African American President), Catholic students would be ruling the country.

Disney and other companies have destroyed what should be a person's innate right to culture. Almost all of us alive today were raised with Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse should belong to us all.
