Certain sellers of memory foam mattresses do returnless refunds. They don't advertise that fact, but when you want to return or get a refund, they will ask you to donate the old mattress to a charity like Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul.
"Same coverage with a higher deductible" is not the same. You are paying less because you get less. Depending on what you spend towards your deductible, this may or may not be a better deal.
A 2x4 used to be a "raw" 2 inches by 4 inches to the center of the saw blade. However you could expect them to be 1/16-1/4 inch short on each dimension due to "curf", which is the width of material removed by the saw blade.
And a little more due to shrinkage when drying the wood. And a little more due to surfacing all four sides (S4S). The old stuff varied much more in size than the modern stuff. In some cases the old actual size approached the modern actual size. Today, the actual size is standardized and the mill calculates what size to cut based on the saw kerf, expected surfacing loss and expected shrinkage during drying.
Today, lumber yards sell 2x4 being 3/4 of an inch short on all dimensions.
Hmmm... Today's 2x4 is 1.5" by 3.5". That looks more like a half inch.
Like happened near me (Jackson, WI), the municipality spends a fortune setting up an internet utility and is quickly out-competed by private companies.
If you're cutting down the weeds before they are more than an inch high, the dandelions should not get a chance to go to blossom before getting chopped.
Can't even use good, American horses to do this.
What's that? American horses won't do this job? I bet they're willing to try! No need for H1B horses to take jobs away from American horses!
What makes you think it is "gun nuts" who are doing it? Does anyone who owns a single gun qualify as a "gun nut"? Does someone who buys a gun to use in suicide qualify as a "gun nut"?
You're exactly right. Passing inspections don't tell you that everything is OK.
My house was built by licensed professionals. All inspections passed by local inspector.
1) After passing rough inspection, builder discovered that many walls were extremely crooked. He fired the rough crew and had a new crew in for two weeks fixing things.
2) After living in house for a few months, I noticed that main sewage line in basement had a small leak. Upon further investigation, I discovered that the leak was at a joint in the hung plumbing that was not glued.
I only occasionally print something (only twice in the last 6 months).
I have not bought a printed book in over two years. (I currently average about 3 ebooks per week.)
I am the oldest software engineer in my group.
I don't think it's age. More likely some people adjust to new methods and others don't.
The typical gun owner knows more about guns and can shoot them more accurately that the typical police officer. Even criminals may be better at shooting than police officers.
Police training is woefully inadequate in this area. Professional trainers know this and have discussed it openly.
I've never had any special speed-reading training but I remember being tested with a tachistoscope and timed reading tests in high school. My teacher was curious about just how fast I could read. I scored 1200 wpm with 90%+ comprehension when I intentionally read quickly. When I read for recreation, I loaf along at about 600 wpm.
There is one drawback to this, though. In the past, my weekly bookstore trips would usually result in buying four to six paperback books. That was an expensive reading habit until ebooks came along.
The metal problem with MRI is that MRI uses extremely strong magnetic fields, which will rip metal loose from your body. That does not mean that the magnetic field is dangerous to normal tissue, just that you had metal in your body and were stupid enough to not say anything.
When I had my last MRI, the tech was in the control room, which was right next to the room I am in. There was nothing special about the wall or glass between us. You're confusing MRI with CAT, which uses x-rays..
Kraft recently changed its Mac & Cheese by changing it to use natural ingredients. They sold the new formulation for three months before saying anything.
First of all, god does not exist. There is no god. God is a figment of human imagination, made up in olden-times days for the expressed purpose of coercing "proper behavior" among humans, under the threat of eternal damnation. Now, of course, several thousand years later, we know this is/was largely a crock of shit.
Well, some people *think* they know that God does not exist. They have about the same amount of proof as those who *think* they know that God does exist.

Ummm... Given that gun sales have been through the roof for a long time now, no.
Donuts cannot be expensive when someone else is paying for them.

Higher Deductible + Lower Premiums + Healthy Person = Better deal
Higher Deductible + Lower Premiums + Unhealthy Person = Worse deal
YMMV

Charter, ATT, a couple smaller ISPs -- all providing higher speeds than the village.

A) Yep. That's why asymmetric warfare is not a problem. NOT!
B) By the time the second amendment was written, the British were no longer in control of what had been their colonies.
Just face it, you don't really know all that much about this.
Well, if you are what you eat, we want to start with cells from an athlete with an IQ of 160.

Many.
Magnetic North. And the monitor faces magnetic South. Any other directions lead to distortion on the monitor.

Or maybe the propellant leaked away and there was only enough left for a few seconds?
I can log on to the clinic I use and check test results and other medical records for me, my wife and my child.

I regularly read technical works just to learn more about the world.
