I have the Logitech MX700. Wireless, IR, and best of all it's rechargeable through base! The only thing I don't like about it is that the extra scrolling buttons and thumb curve are on the left side which would make this a "righty" mouse.... I'M A "LEFTY" YOU INSENSITIVE CLODS! Seriously though, it tells you when the batteries are running low by blinking a dinky red LED and a green one when you are charging. The scroll wheel is nice, rubbery soft, and has just enough feedback to satisfy my needs... I had to make a few adjustments to Quake 3 since this mouse is MUCH more sensitive then my old soap bar, but hey.... Who am I to complain?
Slashdot not only digs up the news, it digs up the dirt as well... I can see it now "S&D, Attorneys at Law". I just need to prove that I was no where near that cow when it fell over, HELP SLASHDOT!
I think this action was a bad idea for the RIAA, even worse then going ahead with filing suit against this little girl... If this one case was held as an exception, why couldn't all the other 260 people use this to their adavantage to get away with only a $2,000 fine as well? After all, they are all being sued for the same reason/damages aren't they? (I'm sure people have downloaded more, but the charges would have to be reduced drastically, regardless)
To be honest, I think this can be taken a step further... Who's to say that anyone being sued by the RIAA for these same circumstances shouldn't be penalized to the same extent as this little girl?
As a matter of fact, I have an idea that can stop all these suits altogether... We just have to-
...and require P2P developers and distributors to obtain and store users' personal information -- ostensibly for age verification.
And since when is the RIAA having permission to access information on systems totally out of their control considered legal? For Moore's sake, they are a business entity, not a law enforcement agency!
Who's to say that this isn't the RIAA's way of saying "Repent and yee shall be saved"... This in some twisted way makes sense for them. They are close to the straw that breaks the **AA back and instead of going the legal way about things and having to spend cash on lawyers to make cash on Joe Geek, they figure that a confession would both stop said file sharer from distributing more of their content and simultaneouslygive them a bargaining chip against Joe in-case he ever wanted to share content again to make him think twice.
The RIAA are now well and truly gathering their forces for a financial onslaught on file sharers in the US, with a "fear and awe" campaign
I didn't know that Dubya was working for the RIAA... Seriously though, after all the warning, and complaining, and advertising, and threatening they've thrown together, does it make their "Seek & Destroy" effort any more effective? Really all that they're doing is making you worry, they can't try harder to find you because if they pushed just one more inch it would already be crossing the line to invasion of privacy in our "fine" legal system (the parking ticket kind, not the proud type).
Think about how many different ways this benefits email users around the world... We now have a portal into the world of these deviants (I love that word). Give me one address, just one address... They don't know what SPAM really is yet... Let alone the true meaning of/. hehehe
Seriously, I'm sure that atleast a few million people are going to have less spam tomorrow after this:)
I'm sure that this is going to stop P2P activity.... I don't think it is too hard nowadays to find Kazaa K++ just by-
Oh wait, check those searches again, I just did a search and it seems the spiders haven't gotten word yet, this just goes to show that no matter how much you wanna censor, you can't censor it all!
You try dealing with a guy who seriously yelled at the entire IT department for keeping livestock on premises... He was refering to the server farm, and no I'm not kidding...
Could there be a Linux 'Blaster' just waiting to happen?
Yes, there could be... But in case you forgot, WE CAN FIX IT!! (without having to wait for some lazy, rich programmers to make a patch). That's the point of open-source... If there is an exploit, WE WILL ALL KNOW WHY, and WE can find a way to fix it. The Linux community as a whole is far superior to those guys working for MS and half as lazy (provided we have our caffeine)... Though we all wish we had their money;)
What do we do with the spoofed junk we get where only the IP may be useful??...
Backdoor trojan execution through OS exploit? Report the IP to its domain admin? Or do we just do an IP-Lookup, find his house, and use something I like to call "Mr. Thingy" on him?

Why don't we just throw tracking collars on them while we're at it and see how they progress through nature "undisturbed"...
The sad part is that I'm sure that this kind of thing will be paid for through tax payers' dollars... If we have money to blow, why not blow it on something more useful.... Like supporting/.'ers caffeine addictions!

She says that in ten years, 20% of our clothes will incorporate some kind of electronic components.
Hopefully she isn't referring to RFID tags

Maybe it'll be like vanity phone numbers... I got dibs on 1337!!!
Who needs a Roomba, the RoboSweep is all I need to keep my place clean... Now why are there squirrels rummaging in my clothing pile?
Robostrider is made out of a 7-Up can, stainless steel wire legs and an elastic band coupled to a pulley to power its middle legs.
I'm not sure what would bother me more to see upclose in the pool, a Vietnamese Water Strider, or a 7-Up can with legs...
