actually in one local jurisdiction they lower your speeding ticket to a moving violation precisely so they can keep the entire fine instead of sharing it with the county and state.

I know of many small towns where the speed limit drops from 55 to 35 in a hundred feet or so usually at the bottom of a hill. This is down to both slow down local traffic and to give the local sheriff a spot to sit and nab people who are just passing through and don't know enough to slow down before they get to close.

actually having used my iphone, half of the problem is with at&T's shitty 3G coverage. I literally traveled 3 miles in a straight line along a mostly flat plain. at each end of the line I had a full signal, in the middle of the line I couldn't get anything in 3G or edge.

I have 3G coverage at home and at work, but since I work in a metal building I have to go near the walls to get any kind of decent signal(that doesn't matter which phone I am using) So my battery life on 3G drains massively limiting me to a day with light cell use and occasional web browsing. if I switch to edge I can go 2 days, as it stops trying to reconnect every 10 minutes.

i am just i the habit if I am not using web browsing to turn off 3G. I get better battery life, and all I can do is wait to see if AT&T improves their spotty service.

Now it is an easily abuse-able system especially with how it is setup. I always give the benefit of the doubt in such systems. Even to MSFT. MSFT has abused their setups in the past. apple while a control freak really haven't yet. With yet being the key word.

As I said earlier, the reasons why Microsoft didn't bother trying to make Aero work on older video cards should be fairly obvious, when one considers the hardware that most people using Vista would have.

yep most people using Vista have older hardware that they really don't want to upgrade yet again just to gain some flashy stuff that does what their existing hardware could do. DX10 isn't all that big of a improvement over DX9. the fact the moment Vista was released a completely hardware incompatible version of DX10.1 was introduced and made standard by MSFT has nothing to do with what most customers already have.

Aero shouldn't require a third of the resources that it does, and should run just fine on your laptop. The fact that it doesn't is indicative of Vista's poor design.
