    Here is the trick.

No one will actually cut spending. most of what the government spends money on isn't pork projects. It isn't entitlements. Sure the government might spend $50 billion on pork projects but out of trillions that is saying they went out to eat a lot.

The Social security is a ponzi scheme where they stole money out of for decades and now the bill is due so the politicians are still losing money that way.

The problem is the government cut taxes several times but they can't cut spending. So the wealthy got tax breaks but anyone earning less than $150,000 a year gets screwed.

Mit Rommeny pays less in taxes than someone earning $150,000 a year. the top 5% control something stupid like 90% of the income yet only pay taxes on 20% of that total. yet they bitch and moan they pay too much. but they only pay taxes on 20% of their income whereas if you are earning less than $250,000 then you are paying taxes on 100% of your income.

that is the problem. the trick is everyone in congress is in that group.

Not only is there huge amounts of wasted space on the sides, but even in the comment boxes. It is like the new mobile slashdot. You scroll and scroll and scroll just to go down 5 comments out of hundreds or thousands.

I really wish slashdot would fire the idiots who think up the new web layouts. none of them are worth my two cents let alone the tens of thousands of dollars they are being paid.

no they aren't hugely wasteful. especially the Buran which didn't have the main engines mounted in it. The Buran died with the collapse of the soviet union.

Even the space shuttle put more people into space ever. Russian capsules have another 100 launches or so before they will come close to putting the number of people and equipment that the shuttles did.

Also no one other than the shuttle has gone EVA to repair large satellites.(the hubble repair missions) As they literally can not carry both the people and the equipment.

The waste of the space shuttle came from the fact that it was stripped after every flight had the engines gutted and rebuilt. It used expsensive and fragile tiles for a heat shield.

remove the main engines like Buran did and find a better heat shield. that is what it will take to make the shuttle better.

The shuttle also could do one thing that no other vehicle could do. Bring things home safely. Personally I wish the last shuttle mission was a mission to hubble to bring it back to earth. a fitting tribute the hubble would be permanent display in a museum. You can not do that with any other vehicle design.

No mass isn't the gravitational source by itself. There is another link between the two. Yes the higher the mass the higher the gravity. but this map shows you can get fluctuations in gravity's acceleration not only based on altitude as expected, but densities or other sources.

As a mountain that is 7,000' shorter than everest has less gravitational pull. Look at that map. areas that are volcanic have greater gravitational pull.

Something else is affected the expected numbers. density of the mantle is a good candidate.

Actually the opposite is true. The more mass you have between the gravity source and your self the lower the gravitational pull is.

Though why Everest has higher gravity than a mountain in Peru is odd. Unless the lost city of gold is under that mountain.

The bigger the object the greater the gravitational field. However the more mass you have between yourself and said field point"source" the lower the effects of gravity you feel.

Every EZPass I have seen comes with a little RFID resistant bag(poly bag with metal foil lining the inside) to store the unit when not in use.(That makes 6 total units at least)

Sure the average person probably doesn't remove the unit from the windshield ever. I know I don't anymore. but I did when i first got the unit.

lastly NYDOT can't issue traffic fines againist ezpass transponders. they tried a couple of times when the system first came out issuing speed tickets to who took drove 90 miles in an hour. but those were quickly overturned in court. As EZpass registered to cars and speed/ driving tickets are issued to Drivers.

a minor difference but if you let someone else drive your car you are not liable for driving tickets they generate.
