Finally, Ryan Gordon has been fighting with a vehical bug in these all week...now that the demos are out he can finally get some sleep, so he is rested enough to finish the game for release!
DX:IW wasn't a terrible game, but it was not nearly as good as it could of been. There were times that were edge of the seat tension, but most if it was pretty laid back.
The frame rate sucked. But it didn't kill the game
The Levels were tiny, very clausterphobic inducing, but it didn't kill the game
Interface was very awkward, but it didn't kill the game
What did kill the game was that it took a total of 10 hours to complete and was very easy (in terms of puzzle solving...were there any?)
I'm hoping that with Thief III, they can optimize the engine, make larger maps and make better use of the engine in general.
And Liberty Island at the end of DXIW was a joke, 4 seperate maps for what a 5 year old engine did with one map
I only play on Enemy Territory servers that use Punkbuster. I have had no problems with them (except when my client refuses to update so I have to manually update it, no big deal)
I'd say the cheaters on these servers are few and far between, if one is discovered the admins are quick to remove them

Goodwin's Law
Professor Ralph Goodwin, UofU, in 1982 noticed that newsgroup discussions which continued for a long time tended to degrade.
He postulated the following: As the length of a newsgroup thread grows, the probability approaches unity of some participant using the term "Hitler" or "Nazi". The party who first uses such terms is immediately declared the loser of the thread and discussion stops at that point.
I might suggest that Goodwin's law could be ammended to include Sept. 11th and bin Laden now...
Looks like I'm deemed the 'loser' at the very beginning of the thread...so does this mean we can't have any more SCO postings?
That address bar embedded in the taskbar in Windows XP (Right click on taskbar -> Toolbars -> Address Bar) uses the system's default browser. If you set the system default browser to Mozilla, that will launch Mozilla to that address
Too many people I know are fixed on their tools.
They get a pop-up and curse. I tell them about Mozilla/Firebird...Firefox and they get the image of Netscape 4 in their mind and cringe.
I load Mozilla/Firebird...Firefox for them and set it up. Cool they think, not that bad.
Next time I see them they are using IE and cursing at pop-ups again. I ask what's wrong with Mozilla/Firebird...Firefox?
Their answer? "I forgot it was there!" And continue to curse at IE pop-ups...
The moral...people like their bad habits, maybe the best way to get them to switch is give the Mozilla/Firebird...Firefox icon the IE icon, 10/3 they won't even know;-)
Please, that was the most boring, pointless waste of time I've ever spent. All the missions were nearly identical and every mission ended with a rush.
If you find fending off rush after rush after rush fun...Starcraft is the game for you.
If you are looking for something with a little more "Statagy" look somewhere else.
I think that would get more people to STOP using the internet. People are very lazy and view their computers as an appliance.
Toaster = make bread crunchy
Refrigerator = Keeps think cool
TV = Keeps intellegence at a managable level
Computer = E-mail and check aol.com for important news stories
If the average person is forced to take responsibility for their computers, they would give them up in a heartbeat
I'm with you. When I first moved into my house cable was not available right away (or the next year) and we looked into and got DirecTV. I have not been disappointed one bit.
Granted, I don't watch much TV at all...but my wife and daughter do. For the price of cable (sometimes less even) you get 4 times as many channels, customizable 'favorites' lists so you can program to surf only the channels you want.
We didn't get any TiVo packages (weren't available at the time) and I wish we did, I'd watch more TV I'm sure:)
The only time reception is bad is if there is a MASSIVE storm. Massive as in trees falling over and raining cats and dogs...this hardly happens so maybe once or twice a year we lose reception for 5-10 minutes. Snow doesn't sit on the dish much and it still works fine with some on it. But being metal on the roof, snow doesn't last long on it if it does stick.
You do need a clear view of the Southern sky (for us North hemisphere people), I know one guy that can't get it because he's on the edge of a large forest.
If the game the free mod is being based on is already free and it isn't showing up in a lot of places then why would the poster to the parent of these comments think that the mod would somehow manage to show up in those same places?
Because you do not need the original Quake3 game/CD key to play?
Return to Castle Wolfenstein was nice, the multiplayer really made the game stand out. Enemy Territory took that multiplayer and made it better...and offered it for free, no need to purchase RtCW. There are lots of people that can not afford to purchase a $30-$50 game (bills come first) but a free download is very difficult to pass up. This way people can play the game and determine if they like it without the overhead of it being warez. It's fully playable and even supported.
Put it simply...It's better then a mod because it's not packaged as a mod, but an independant game.
That would be more then fine with me, it's not like using the nVidia drivers makes you an outcast. nVidia is one of the most praised big names because they have been actively supporting Linux with their hardware for about 4 years.
If Intel would step up and prove that they support Linux, it would be a huge boost for Linux and extra appreciation for Intel from the Linux community. Even if they release a beta for Linux, you know that a large portion of users will actively assist in the testing and send in bug reports.
I would get two blocker Lemmings and trap all the others in real close, and then nuke 'em...most fun on distructive ground as they blast big hole and fall into the water

Then at the very end
Full EULA can be found here
Is it that difficult to look?

Reminds me of the first time I played Zork...the system admin at the time snuck it into the database system.

Ya, poorly phrased and tastelessly added to the comments...I took the troll bait and ran =(

Does this mean I can finally watch encrypted DVDs on Linux without having the fear of the FBI crashing through my windows?
Ours is "upgrading" from Win98 to XP...but not getting any new hardware! Ever run WinXP on a P166?
