    It makes me think of what Sierra did with Valve (Half Life games). After Valve made the two hugely successful cash cows that are half life 1 and 2 Sierra decided to try to screw them. It went to court and in the end Valve won and then dumped Sierra for Electronics Arts. How stupid do you have to be to act like that with your successful business partners?

    That's exactly what I was thinking 1 month would have been a nice round number. It's not specially the playtime they lost but more the insulting harsh email they sent in the first place. Blizzard only started moving because the users organized in the public forum of Cedega and because Slashdot made the case public, if it was a group of less savvy users, they would have lost their money and accounts.

    Good question, my answer is: because people are normally afraid of what they don't understand. Sports are easy to understand, every idiot can understand sports. But looking at strange code on a computer screen or playing games is not familiar to older generations and they react accordingly with fear and accusations of witchcraft.

  10. Content for the Kids on AMD Cuts Personal Internet Communicator · · Score: 2, Interesting
    I just got an idea. It would be cool if eventually there was a web site with the aim of creating and donating content for those kids. If we knew what kind of pedagogic material they need I am sure that many people would be happy to write eBooks or educational software about mathematics science or any other subject (or even donate material already written ). I prefer to donate time on those projects than money that would probably go directly in the pocket of some rich warlord or dictator.

    Of course, open source and open content already exist but if the aim was to directly help kids in developing countries, the content created would be more suitable for their needs and maybe more people would volunteer.

    I agree with your statement and will probably talk my municipal elected official. Now I want to add that our federal voting system is right now perfectly good in is paper ballot country wide form. If any party, Conservatives or Liberals, try to introduce some of those shenanigans blatant imitation of democracy, I really hope that all Canadians will stand together to say that we don't want that shit. Please fellow Canadians don't let it happen.

    After telling us how close to the project he is, the third reason sounds to me like: "Oh and by the way in, case you don't need the book at all here some random reason to try to convince you to buy it anyway." In the same vain he could have said:

    The book has been considered by many as an excellent base ingredient to make"papier-maché" scultures , even if one is not interested in Lua in particular."

    Considering the huge amount of code and media we find in computers these days I'll bet anything that if it was possible to audit the provenance of anyone computer we could easily find programs/content produced by pedophiles, murderers, scammers and even RIAA lawyers. Is that a reason to throw the computer to the garbage? I think that corporations would only throw away the code if it become and issue popular in the media, otherwise just changing the name of the project will be enough for any company.

    That's a project I have since some time. I think a stationary recumbent bike is the best for that because it's much more comfortable. I don't play video games lately (since I quitted cold turkey WOW) but with that setting I'll have a good excuse to play each day. Did someone saw a plan or some ideas for that somewhere?

    Unfortunately after looking almost all the real money links I found no site that appear to be mainstream enough. However many of the play money ones seams fun and it cost nothing to try so enjoy!

    Very useful information you gave here, I will probably try it. However, what you said about the liquidity of the market is what I was fearing the most and that's why I was trying to find the most popular one (with the most volume).

    Is this the most popular site of its kind? Is there a bigger competitor somewhere? I'll keep looking and post it if I find something in cases anyone wants to know.
