I am pretty sure the last Indiana Jones film was the "Holiday Special". At least it was of that level of quality and humor, to bad Itchy and Lumpy weren't in it:(
Yeah but the point here is that they voluntarily cripple their drivers because they don't want their old product to be fully compatible with Vista in hope that the customer will buy new hardware from them. It's not incompetence here, it's only a shitty evil corporate strategy.
I know, I consider myself has good at playing the auction house because I can make 100-300G per day just buying and selling stuff but to reach that amount I would need to play every day for three years at an average of 200G per day!!!! o_O That guy is pretty much hard core.
My older brother was in is first year of Engendering and I was 8. He had to buy a personal computer and to my great happiness he got a Coleco Adam including some awesome space ship fighting game. Unfortunately he found out after a couple of days that that computer was ratter shity for the work he wanted to perform and exchanged it for a first generation IBM PC. No graphic card:(
The only thing looking like a game that he had was some strange disk with Zork written on it and because I did not speak English I took a dictionary in order to try to play that game. Even if I played other arcade games before that Zork was special because there was something magic about communicating with the computer in order to play instead of just smashing some random buttons.
I worked in many Canadian elections (we use paper ballot) and the measure are even more evolved that whatt you suggest.
Each voting boot is for between 100 and 500 votes.
Two nominated workers (by the last election winning party and the second place) and one observer per candidate is allowed to be present all day.
Beginning of the day all voting material is analyzed and accounted for in the voting log that has to be signed by both workers.
If at the end of the day there is one single more ballot than the amount used in the day (we have the exact number) we have to count our voting box again and if it remains like that it will be noted on the vote log and the candidates will know about it.
Each ballot has to be firmed by one of the employees in front of the other one and at the end of the day, for a ballot to be valid it needs to have the firm.
At the end of the vote an account of each box is sent to the candidate so he can independently calculate how many votes he got.
The best thing, everybody do that simultaneously in the country so we have our results the same night even in tight spots.
We have automatic recount procedures for when a race is won by less than a certain percentage.
Many many many other check mechanisms that I am just too tired to write right now.
The only way to screw this system is by corrupting both workers but then the observer are going to denounce them. And then also there is a shit load of boxes and different worker (who were nominated each one by a different party) you need to corrupt lots and lots of people to have any major effect on the election.
>(don't go for the guy who stole for fun, get the guy who stole because he had to)
I don't see many cases where the black hat had to hack except maybe in that sad excuse for a movie called "Swordfish" when the main dude has a gun on is head and a head on his gun.
> OS installation is pretty straightforward nowadays.
Changing the breaks, the oil, filter and many other repairs on your car are very straight forward operations. Do you do it yourself? Do most people not working in a mechanical related field do it themselves?
>"why should I care whether someone else wants to do something or not?"
Because if you have the same whirring than many human beings you are supposed to feel that thingy called compassion and empathy that prevent you from being an ass to others. In fact hurting others will even make you feel bad even if you don't believe in a giant squid that spit lightnings from his anal sphincter who blessed the earth with some crazy sacred scriptures given to some random guy some time ago.
However not everybody have the whirring working in perfect order and thats probably why there is so many violent psychopath in all the churches of this world; religion is supposed to keep them in check but I am not sure it's always working.
I would like to see other activities analyzed. What about playing football? Does it make kids more aggressive? Do the percentage of violence perpetrated by members of the football team is higher? If its the case, should then Football be banned?
>Imagine some terror organization such as Al Qaeda creating a fearless, seven-foot, feel-no-pain specimen....
Or imagine some corrupt manipulative entity use it to control the population instead like let's say... the government!
"I point-blank asked him. When he told me that he had this relationship and that he broke it off with her, I asked him, 'Are you sure that she's OK with this?' Because you know how these things go," Shipman said, according to the court documents.
"And I said, 'Is there going to be some crazy lady showing up at my door trying to kill me?' and he said, 'No, no, no, she's not like that, she's fine with it, she's happy for me.' "
I'll love to do it. Unfortunately I also know that all governments would love to implement some law that gives them instant access to that data wherever they want. By cherry picking information in so much data you can probably accuse anyone of whatever you want just by picking events without putting them in context.
I totally agree with founder Jimbo Wales and like him think that the best course of action is to wait until gnomes and elves spawn from thin air and resolve the problem with a magic incantation.
" SCO's lawyers apparently believe that "Pamela Jones" does not exist and that Groklaw is penned by a team of IBM lawyers. "
Interesting, from my part I always thought that Darl doesn't really exits and that all his declarations are in fact penned by a team of buffoons and clowns hired to entertain us.
Another thing that annoys me is that in the first book Harry was that little smart and very courageous "Cinderella style" kid who enjoyed the little he has. Then in the following books he have everything: wealth, popularity, people who loves him and success but then he keeps complaining, whining and screaming at his friends. I guess the author wanted to depict some stereotypical adolescent crisis but it his really annoying to think that kids identify themselves to that attitude.
Like for any technology, early adopters will pay the price. Thanks to the "super-wealthy", more money will flow into research and development to make the technology more affordable.
"The only conclusion that I can come to is that someone is tracking these contractors to figure out who they are"
Also the fact that the DOD found the bug so rapidly seams to indicate that those "contractors" where probably more than contractors and that's why they where bugged in the first place.
"the "to be continued..." at the end of Back to the Future was rather gutsy, since it was the first movie -- they must have had unusually high expectations for it."
Back to the Future was never designed to have a sequel, the "To Be Continued..." caption was added after the film was released to video (or translated in some cases). Robert Zemeckis stated that had sequels been planed, BTTF 1 would not have ended with Marty girlfriend entering the DeLorean with him and Doc, which was a huge plot writing annoyance for the following movie script.
That's more or less my opinion on Harry Potter and each time I forget about it untill I start reading the next book. In the last couple of books, Harry Potter has become some whiny little annoying incompetent but lucky undeserving prima donna. But in the end there is something that I enjoy about those books because I keep reading them all and look ahead to to read the last one. I'll even admit that after reading the last one, I was obsessively looking all over the internet theories and analyses about all the character and possible plot developments. In the end I think I don't like the character "Harry Potter" but I like his universe and many of the plot elements of the story and that's what keeps bringing me back.
"Maybe in theory, but who has the money and interest to keep their own personal MMORPG running, and who will play it? Won't work."
First of all that was the model that helped for the huge success of Counterstrike/half-life. People like to be God in their world so thousands of people host and run games for free just to have the chance to be the admin.
Then if you prefer a example about an MMORPG. What about "MANGOS". Mangos is the World of Warcraft server reverse engineered. This one is open source but there are a couple of other third party WOW server's emulators around. People are using those servers and are hosting games for free. At the moment you can host WOW realms with up to 500 players and even more. Search for http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=WOW+private+s erver+&btnG=Google+Search ">"WOW private server" and you will see.
Now everything I just described is borderline illegal and sometimes blatantly illegal; Blizzard as already played the legal game and closed a couple of projects and servers. This project would be a completely legal project and I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

At market value of 1000G for 31$ he can sell that amount for 6657.188$.
