I'm sorry for being a complete and utter tool in this regard, but aren't there prostitutes around? Perhaps not at the tiniest post, but I could imagine some entertaining local girl catering to the crowd?
What's pretty funny to me, is that owners can be so cheap at the same time. As a hobby, I repair broken power adapters for Apple notebooks. I was pretty surprised because although there is a certain risk in buying a power adapter from an amateur electronics guy, people are very much willing to save 40 bucks.
Several generations of white Macbooks released in 2006-2007 were prone to cracks in the casing, definitely a design/manufacturing defect. Apple would attempt repairs even outside the standard 1-year (in the US) warranty.
Perhaps for you, but mine showed hairline fractures along the bottom and fan outlets, and I definitely did not get a replacement (N/W European country), even when it was within the one-year guarantee. The guy said that when it was visible on top, or on the keyboard, things would be different.
Managed to order mine from Farnell this morning. Took almost a whole hour of refreshes & timeouts considering that i already had an account on their site.
I know for a fact that electronics engineers make lousy software developers. You better pray that your "whole hour of refreshes" didn't get you 3600 Raspberry Pis.
The best way to get real code obfuscation is to outsource VB.Net development to a third-world country. Seeing indexed property calls and casting in lambda expressions in VB.Net is already unsettling, but when the variable names are in a foreign language (or event better: foreign language in all uppercase) it is a treat, especially with random patches of On-Error-Gotos and line numbering.
Add some random copy/pasting, plenty of unused, undocumented variables, and best of all: a home-brew database structure that is further from normalized than most women.
People tend to be around when there is something exciting, like a big release, and then disappear until the next exciting thing. Creating a community team should never assume that the people will stay fully committed the entire length of time. You have to factor in that they will be in for a while and then disappear for longer periods and then come back (...) So instead of planning big things, nd something small, doable and useful in itself. Not a wiki page with a plan, but the rst step of what you aim for. And then, lead by doing.
I agree with the OS being "under the hood" nowadays, however for some reason I still spend a lot of time on the command line. That pretty much rules out Windows, or anything that does not have Bash and the GNU coreutils.
Only the UI? Your app on iOS was coded in Objective-C, or so I presume. You can abstract data and business layers, but still, it's written in Objective-C.
Now how did you use that code on Android, which requires you write your app in Java?
I can think of some solutions, such as compiling your Objective-C to object files, then use JNI to call the methods, but I wonder if you took this or another route.
There is no crueler cut of life than having to bury a child
What surprised me, is that this is a scientifically proven fact.
In one of his books, psychology researcher Martin Seligman reported on his findings how people deal with severe depression. Almost all his patients get better completely, except those that lost a child. Apparently, it's a blow that most parents just don't seem to recover from.
A couple of days ago, I saw a mother with a toddler in a buggy, and the toddler was playing with a brand-new iPhone. Of course, the phone fell on the stone floor.
As a non-parent, what on earth could move you to give an expensive phone to a toddler??

I'd go for shit. Where did I leave my shit? Oh fuck, I left it in the cloud. ShitCloud (TM).

If you can find them...
If you need them the'll find you.
To correct you're spelling.
I am primarily a Linux user and rarely boot into Windows but when I do, I use LiteStep.
Are you the bearded guy from the commercial?!? CAN WE MEET??
I don't always drink beer, but when I do, it's Dos Equis
Exactly. Firefox also allows you to uncheck the option "Accept third-party cookies", and doesn't have this problem.
What you can also do, is promise great riches, as in the case of Apple/iOS/Objective-C.
Do you mean 3614 Pis?
Hehheh :-) clever one.

in Java of course you can just use the foreach syntax (Kitten kitten : kittens).
Also, Java has Garbage Collection, which gets rid of those kittens everywhere.
I get mad when anyone doesn't use their own login
Meh. I don't get mad, I just tell the laptop: begin auto-destruct sequence, authorization Picard-Alpha-Seven-Tango. That'll teach teh goddamn' kids.
You do know that "tapping" is a game mechanic that is patented by Wizards of the Coast? Unfortunately, I'm not joking :-(
Dammit, for some reason the computer logged me out when I was posting this so now it's anonymous.
That happens when you switch to Private Browsing :-)
Thanks for letting us know, though.

I find it a bit weird that you produce corporate videos but then upload it to YouTube. Can't you host your own content?
