    I'm no mathemologist but, if something is 99.99999%, I believe that means we should expect to find 1 instance in 10,000,000 samples. So should we consider it odd if we actually find 1 within the first 1,000 samples? It's not impossible but it's probably something like 99.99% unlikely.

    Would this be useful for people who need to spend prolonged periods in low-g environments? What about people in comas? It seems like this might have a lot of uses beyond just making lazy people look better. Although, I wholeheartedly endorse that plan too.

    Of course we are using less here (Japan) already. Lights are off in the office most of the day, train schedules have been cut back to about 80% of normal, etc. Summer is going to be pretty intolerable if we can't use air-con. But just look at the disparity the parent points out. There's no way any reasonable amount of behavioral change is going to make up that difference.

    Yes, we should use 'green' power sources as much as possible but it's not going to be enough. For the foreseeable future, we will need to make a choice between nuclear and fossil fuels or a mix of both. To suggest otherwise is not radical, it's just wrong.

    That's right, here in Japan they measure it in milli-sieverts but, as an American, I don't have a good grasp of the metric system. Can anyone tell me how to convert to feet?

    I'd have liked to see pages that specifically use flash heavily (youtube or some kind of flash-based game) compared here too. I've noticed that Flash in Chrome causes my fan to spin up like crazy. Other browsers, not quite so much.

    Sure, but you know who I really feel sorry for? All those poor suckers that bought iPhone 4 and who will miss out on all the great features iPhone 5 will probably have whenever it is released. That's why I never buy any version until the final, ultimate one which will never be improved upon and which has all possible features.

    So, the "guys" who "redesigned" your "website" chose PHP because it made it easier for them to ignore principles like DRY. I follow your tortured logic so far. But what I don't get is, why would you prefer to have them choose a language that made it more difficult for them to do what they so clearly want to do which is write shitty code that they know they don't have to maintain because they know it's your problem once they've fulfilled the requirements of their contract. Aren't you just being mean?
