I'm glad I'm not the only one that can't understand this gibberish. I lost 3 karmas on hacker news for posting about how incomprehensible it was. It's also too long, too boring, and I still don't know what a Game Jam is.
I'm no mathemologist but, if something is 99.99999%, I believe that means we should expect to find 1 instance in 10,000,000 samples. So should we consider it odd if we actually find 1 within the first 1,000 samples? It's not impossible but it's probably something like 99.99% unlikely.
Would this be useful for people who need to spend prolonged periods in low-g environments? What about people in comas? It seems like this might have a lot of uses beyond just making lazy people look better. Although, I wholeheartedly endorse that plan too.
Of course we are using less here (Japan) already. Lights are off in the office most of the day, train schedules have been cut back to about 80% of normal, etc. Summer is going to be pretty intolerable if we can't use air-con. But just look at the disparity the parent points out. There's no way any reasonable amount of behavioral change is going to make up that difference.
Yes, we should use 'green' power sources as much as possible but it's not going to be enough. For the foreseeable future, we will need to make a choice between nuclear and fossil fuels or a mix of both. To suggest otherwise is not radical, it's just wrong.
That's right, here in Japan they measure it in milli-sieverts but, as an American, I don't have a good grasp of the metric system. Can anyone tell me how to convert to feet?
I'd have liked to see pages that specifically use flash heavily (youtube or some kind of flash-based game) compared here too. I've noticed that Flash in Chrome causes my fan to spin up like crazy. Other browsers, not quite so much.
No matter how you configure it, there will be some small differences. The only real solution here is to do all development on the production environment directly.
Sure, but you know who I really feel sorry for? All those poor suckers that bought iPhone 4 and who will miss out on all the great features iPhone 5 will probably have whenever it is released. That's why I never buy any version until the final, ultimate one which will never be improved upon and which has all possible features.
Inline stuff? Wait, you don't like JavaScript either? So, next time I'm thinking of using JavaScript in a project, what language would you recommend that I use instead?
So, the "guys" who "redesigned" your "website" chose PHP because it made it easier for them to ignore principles like DRY. I follow your tortured logic so far. But what I don't get is, why would you prefer to have them choose a language that made it more difficult for them to do what they so clearly want to do which is write shitty code that they know they don't have to maintain because they know it's your problem once they've fulfilled the requirements of their contract. Aren't you just being mean?
I know, right? Come on you lazy php programmers! Get off your asses and choose a harder option! What's the matter? Chicken? Bok bok bok! Oh, look at the little babies go crying home to their mommies!
Shut up. All of you.

Is that really the official MIT logo? Terrible...

Wow, just imagine a beowulf cluster of whatever this article is about...

Here, let me fix that for you.
Historically, having any kind of lead has been a temporary thing.
There. Isn't that better?
Am I the only one that was expecting to see this after clicking that link?

As it is present in all forms of donuts, I'd have to say "no".

Or if not, can you make a blender out of it?

Oooh! Burn! Nobody will want to use System 7 now that you've illuminated its Achilles Heel!
1 Sievert? What is that in feet?
But can it run Flash? Because that is the most important thing in the whole world!

Maybe they think they own Evangelion.
