I'm a socialliberal ("social" for the social benefits and securities, "liberal" for freedom, democracy and civil rights) who also supports the monarchy we have in Sweden. I'm quite a mix.
And claytablets will be gone any day now. Oh wait, they are gone, and replaced with paper/papyrus/books etc. I am not convinced the book in its current form will exist forever. Maybe books with electronic paper will be the next step.
I wonder, if the big companies are harassed by some upstart regarding infringement of ridiculous patents, will these big companies then finally get it? Or will they keep lobby for software patents?
I give that link because I have my portfolio when it comes to applications, scripts, graphics and webdesign there. Sometimes they are interested in looking at that, especially if the job I'm applying for is in one of these areas...
They don't sell hardware? Didn't feel like it last time I tried to pick up an Intellimouse - I had to pay for it! Weird! I thought they were giving them out for free.
Science should never be forced to change accordingly to politics. Didn't we learn anything from the past? Galileo Galilei, for example, was forced to change his mind because the backwards church demanded it. To say that these scientists today were silenced because during the last 15 years there was a democratic presient for 8 years is simply ridiculous. Are they complaining about how they were silenced back then, or are they complaining about how they're silenced now? I have read about how conservatives (who, for some reason, seem to believe in mythological creatures a lot) are trying to skew data to fit their own ideas on how reality should be. This doesn't have to do with biology alone, but also things such as abortion. There are more examples where science is slowly being forced to move to give room for personal beliefs and religion and politics. This is dangerous and dishonest and, yes, evil.
Nah, why should humans go anywhere? It's just ridiculous. Just look at all the explorers who explored Earth during centuries, what did they accomplish? Also, if we want to go to the moon, or to Mars, why not send only robotic probes? I mean, why colonise other worlds? We've colonised new territory for millennia, apparently we're tired of it now. Let's stagnate and go stale, I say. Let's break that stupid tradition. Let's waste resources on weapons instead.
SpaceShipOne and the shuttle are two different vehicles when it comes to purpose, size and capacity. SpaceShipOne can do suborbital hops, while the space shuttle can reach 400 km orbit. SS1 takes three passengers and no cargo, while the shuttle can take a crew of seven and plenty of cargo. The shuttle was developed during the 70's, being a huge jump from the small capsules that were in use before that, so that it took a lot of cash to develop should surprise no one. The SpaceShipOne and the shuttle are very different, developed under different circumstances for different purposes.
I had to take a government student loan (in addition to the allowance I was granted) to cover for rent, living expense, books, etc. We do have student loans over here.
I am not sure what to say about people who complain about something like this. He donates hundreds of millions to charity, and people try their best to find something wrong with it. How weird could it possibly get?

It's just like in my fantasies!

Maybe they like being able to pay their rent? Or maybe they want to work for Microsoft?
He's probably talking about the comments some of the slashdotters make.

Oh, come on. You're not Swedish, because if you were, you'd be much better at English. I can't imagine how anyone could be this bad.
FireFox has begun allowing popups lately.
Wasn't it paid for with taxpayer's money? It should belong to the city and all its citizens.

Yes, it's not like I've ever had any use of the antivirus software I'm using...

Yes they might have aliens on it if we or other non-natives land there.
I bet some people will buy it just for fun.

Haven't you seen Married... with Children? Tells you all you need to know about life. :-)

How can he not get medical care? Where does he live? Don't they have hospitals open for the public there?

So how much of your savings do you donate? More than 1.5%, I guess?
