    my car already has a "magic wand" stick just below the wiper control stick for controlling the car stereo. Anti clockwise it's volume up, clockwise it's volume down, pull inwards it's auto tune to next station, push forwards it's auto-tune the other way and I believe there's a function for pushing in on the end as well. If you've got the CD player running, then the push and pull function selects next or previous track.

    hijacked by lawyers who saw it as a boon-doggle way of keeping themselves in Maserati's... the language they're writing these sh1tty software patents in is designed so that only they can actually translate them... and the manner of processing software patents suits in court is deliberately designed to run up the billable hours... I would like to suggest that we bring back the requirement for a working model to be filed with the patent application... that would stop a lot of these crappy "idea" patents that are plaguing us these days.

    Actually, the jury was 12 to 0 in favour of Microsoft being guilty, however they were hung over the size of the damages... this is what's so absolutely stupid about the entire case... Microsoft lost, yet won...

    I think his point was that with a little willpower, diabetes can be managed with diet alone. No need for injections.

    Sadly that is NOT true... the elevated blood glucose levels after meals cause damage to the beta cells in the pancreas killing them off. No matter how tightly controlled your diet is, you will be killing some cells off with every meal you have. The point with diet control is to delay the progression to diet plus pills and then onto insulin... If you can keep your long term HbA1c levels down below 7%, then the secondary complications of Diabetes (blindness, amputations of lower extremities, kidney failure) will be kept at bay.

    A) The limits on withdrawals on your debit card are for your own protection. You don't want someone cleaning you out because they stole your card. If bitcoin were to catch on (big if), it would need something equivalent to a debit card, and such cards would have limits. There are likewise good reasons to be suspicious of people carrying hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash across national borders.

    funny that... they're actually planning reducing the daily amount of cash you can withdraw as a means of preventing a run on the banks in Greece RIGHT NOW...

    they haven't got it, because if they had, then I would be writing software for it right now... This is way ahead of what we currently have for battle training systems. Currently, the models have to be hand generated.

    What contract? Where is the meeting of minds, the exchange of due considerations... there is no contract between the TV viewer and the advertiser... this is why they are going for copyright breach...

    software piracy is software piracy... if it were a real problem for Microsoft and the other companies, then they'd implement proper locks on the software, but no, they like it because it means the competition isn't getting a look in... to Microsoft, a pirated windows install means someone isn't using Linux... a pirated Office install means someone isn't using Open Office...

    slashdot really NEEDS to fix the experience for mobile browsers... I've just tried the new beta on this site and it's a fscked up experience... just logging in is a real pain as the fancy login window doesn't work well with the onscreen keyboard... and the tabs and links on the pages do not work very well either... touch one and 9 times out of ten, nothing happens... even when zoomed right in on it... the tabs at the bottom of the page don't work either so you're stuck with whatever stories are shown on the front page...
