It's the principal of the matter. If your service is based on the premise of anonymity you shouldn't fold to the cops unless required by law. Even then you shouldn't record any data of substance that can be used to prosecute customers.
This was not the candidate I voted for and certainly not the one I will vote for next election. For a man who ran on the promise of hope and change, I expected more.
The space race was a huge factor in the technological revolution and gave hope to so many Americans when nuclear war seemed more of a matter of when than a matter of if. We need that same hope today. I desperately wish I could be proud to be American again.
I just moved to FDC (for colo, not vps) and they have been really fast in the tickets I've opened. I'm a little disappointed that they don't offer *any* DoS mitigation, but even on weekends they are really quick to respond. They even gave me the numbe for their NOC so I can call them directly if I need a reboot.
I recently built a new server and decided to go with Xen using HVM. Although this is mainly a personal project, I can't really see the point in purchasing closed source software when the open source alternatives support everything I need and more.
I admittedly am pretty new to this game but what advantages can I get from VMware when Xen runs a VPS totally seamlessly?
did anyone get a glimpse of how much the rig cost? i am the first to admit the cool factor, but geeze, that must have been alot of time and money if every in it wasfrom scratch.
my current laptop is a toshiba satelite a75 series.
circa end of 2004
batery life: 2 hours on "long life" mode.
my very first laptop was a toshiba t-1000 circa 1980-something(late 80's)
battery life: hours and hours...
how is that a longer life?
a local thift store installs suse on all of the secondhand computers they sell. not only do customers have computers that are clean from all of the crap the previous owner accumulated, they can learn about linux in a desktop environment... its a win win situation since they dont need to pay for additional licences
Allchin stressed that Microsoft has broken new ground in Longhorn. For example, document icons are no longer a hint of the type of file, but rather a small picture of the file itself. The icon for a Word document, for example, is a tiny iteration of the first page of the file.
This isnt new; KDE has had this feature for ages
Folders, too, show glimpses of what's inside. Such images can be rather small, but they offer a visual cue that aids in the searching process, Allchin said.
But while the OS bears plenty of similarities to Tiger, Allchin stressed that Microsoft has broken new ground in Longhorn. For example, document icons are no longer a hint of the type of file, but rather a small picture of the file itself.
the reason i think there is a finite number of invites is do that spammers wont use it to distrobute mail. it would suck for google if gmailwas associated to spam like hotmail has
I dont think this is so much of a trend into keeping things in beta as a cop out for bugs or to be lazy, but more of the definitaion of beta changing. i see beta today as refering to the program as a work in progress, and when it emerges, its more of a totally finished product. I know this is not the case for a lot(or even most) programs, but it seems to me like the definition is shifting that way
what it i comes down to is that tv is run by the advitisors, and i doubt the advertisers will look at a few dedicated trekkies with deep pockets to target ads too. unfortunitately, i think shows like the OC and crappy fomula reality shows are here to stay.
i dont mean to sound like a troll or anything, but is this really news. over the last year or so, (nearly) all of the articles on/. about fast computers have been clusters.
I made a homebrew Dance DAnce Revolution dance pad using this same method. The first attempt however didnt work because some keyboard manufacturers put a bridge outside of the IC, so it would not work unless it was totally rewired. what i ended up doing was to just reassemble the keyboard, and put a molex jack sticking out the side.
i never checked, but i would imagine redbull has more caffine than most coffee. in fact, if you drink too much, you can experience a "caffine intoxication"
theres nothing ike liquid gummy worms...
I dont mean to flame or anything, but im not to impressed by Lamo. he did some crazy things, but any lucky script kiddie could do the same. besides the fact that he was a meth addict, his "hacker skills" consist of using a web browser to snoop in unprotected directorys. In fact, he does not even know c++ or java.
HAH! my 28.8 modem days finally pay off! now I actually can do something that people with broadband can't do. there is nothing like a carrier signal to lift the sprits.
thats a real shame. despite nullsofts claims, i still far prefer winamp 2.x, it is simplier to use and is alot smaller. even worse, xm is one of my favorite formats. it is to a midi like a shell script is to a batch file

Personally, i have found that knoppix cand be extremely slow on older systems, even when using a minimalistic window manager.
i dont really have a very good website, but if i could get this tool, i may actually have to "invest" in my own domain

if karma exists, this i a perfect example. real has done so many "weasely" things, they have been due for some more bad news.
in the past, people have always asked me the significance of my .sig, but now, people will actually understand it (for a few weeks at least)

I wonder how much MA's pro-open source plays into them being pushed to the top of the list. I remember several /. articles on how MA is gpl friendly
