Yes, Rare has the source code, but how willing would they be to actually port it to the 360? Microsoft owns Bungie as well, but you didn't see Bungie rewriting code for Halo or Halo 2 to run on the Xbox 360 natively.
As far as Nintendo's publishing rights go, it is possible that there is a certain time limit. Of course, that's a moot point because what's the point in worrying about publishers when there isn't a product?
Microsoft owns Rare. Why would their games be "rare?" And I'm pretty sure Nintendo wouldn't be able to stop Microsoft from releasing Rare games.
I would guess the biggest reason you won't be playing GoldenEye on an Xbox360 anytime soon is because Microsoft would have to create an emulation layer of some sort to run it. The chances of Nintendo ignoring that kind of action are slim to none considering their stance on emulation.
I think that's a different case. That decision could easily have been based on the chipsets available for Intel that included the Trusted Computing (or whatever the name is) features they desired. Also, isn't the switch also to do with the performance-per-watt of Intel, specifically of their very fine mobile offerings? Granted, their desktop processors are quite warm, but their are many other factors. I seriously doubt that AMD will pull Apple into the case based on their choice of Intel over AMD.
God forbid people devote their time to things other than solving all of mans problems. Besides, you obviously have time to post on Slashdot instead of contributing to the greater good of man.
It's not about realism. It's about immersion. If these techniques make a player feel more into the game, I am completely for them. Anyone who thinks realism is the only way to create immersion is sadly mistaken. Besides, I don't think a battle in WW2 was clear and cleanly lit. While these effects might be more exagerated than what a real soldier saw, they're a lot better than the artificially clean look of most games.
Considering that the people working on this graphical enhancements are definitely not the map builders, I doubt that it's much of a trade-off. The problem is that creating content for high polygon count models and high resolution textures in a trully quality way is taking longer and longer. You can see it in the development of any high end games.
But I do hope they come out with some more maps soon. You're right that new maps are definitely a higher priority than newer graphical enhancements. I just don't see either addition interfering with the development of the other.
I've noticed from personal experience that free games, especially ones that are easily played for 5-10 minutes during leisure time, are split down the middle for male to female.
MMO's, on the other hand, remain very male dominated. Well, on the surface at least. There might be more women playing than I noticed, but they definitely aren't as vocal as their pseudo-female (Guys with girl avatars) counter-parts.
For $100,000 per violation, I don't know. My guess is that a violation is a provable installation of the software, which can add up fast if they had as many sales as were reported. Even if there is only 100 cases of the rootkit being installed, that's $10,000,000. Add in the image damage and that's a hefty tag. But we all know image damage can be fixed with a few donations to the right charities.
Well, they're saying it's a good GPU benchmark. The face that it doesn't load your CPU during the fly-by is a great thing for those that want to isolate their pure video performance as opposed to game performance. I do agree that they should state that the fly-by has almost no reflection of in-game performance when AI or physics come into play.
I wonder what would've happened with the Xbox if Bungie had released Halo for PS2 like they originally planned?
What? Nooo... Halo was originally in development for the Mac. Where did you hear that it was ever planned to go on the PS2? Besides, the Xbox barely handled it, why would the PS2 do much better (at the time, atleast.).
My girlfriend's machine (which she shared with her family) had that installed on it. After playing around with the machine for half an hour cleaning out everything I knew about, it still had issues with random pop-ups and unidentifiable processes. I went out on a limb, removed Panda (which took quite some time as it embeds itself as deep as AOL) and replaced it with AVG. Sure enough, almost all the problems went away. Between AVG being able to actually find virii and getting rid of Panda's deep-rooting soul-sucking software, the machine ran considerably faster.
Now, if I could only get them to run Ad-Aware once in a while, they'd be set...
I just hope he doesn't shovel out more ideas like this "internet" thing he's so spunky about. Nothing good came out of that except pr0n... Ok, maybe I should give him a bit more credit. No, a lot more credit.
Because it's pretty dangerous to try and save a drowning person without proper training. Lifeguards learn all the correct ways to pull someone out of the water so that both the drowner and the lifeguard come out of the water safely.
I prefer a nice Italian for my cabling, but with the higher standards of CAT6 only the finest you can find is suitable, such as a very expensive red wine.
You should have translated that for the rest of us.
Doing a pretty crappy translation (Babelfish-esque) I got something like this:
Cthulhu sleeps, Cthulhu sleeps! Beyond the threshold yet dreams Cthulhu R'lyeh (Couldn't translate it.) Resides in place sleeps.
Hmm... Maybe I should study my Cthuvian better...
Way ahead of you. I already have a strict personal no-drinking policy. Alcohol just doesn't interest me.
Although, I have no qualms with watching my friends get drunk and make fools of themselves...
Density. Not volume. Volume is how much space, density is how much in a given space.
Ice is actually less dense than water. Why do you think it floats in water?
I went for a week where I didn't allow myself to stay on the computer later than 10:00PM because of a severely distorted sleeping schedule, and by the end of the week, I had my schedule back to a very sane 11PM-8AM (I'm a teenager, so that might even be a little on the light side compared to some others, haha.) and I felt considerably more alert, as well as just feeling more healthy.
I doubt this drug will become a sleep replacement for the average man, but I can see it being used to help at critical times, such as having an emergency amount of it on-board a space shuttle in the event of a prolonged emergency where maximum alertness is necesary or similar scenarios.
I wouldn't mind having a few doses of this, though, for LAN parties. While everyone else is struggling to drag their mouse across their mousepad, I'll still be zipping around, even long after the Bawls run out.
This isn't a dupe. This article talks about how they're dealing with the problem, the previous article revealed the problem.

The moment I saw this post, Winamp randomly selected "The Touch" by Stan Bush. That's right. YOU GOT THE TOUCH!

It's not like it'll have 1GB, per se, but each card will have half the work the to do.
In Canada, the Defendant has to prove their allegations are true. The Plaintiff doesn't have to prove them wrong.

I learned the answer the other day in science:
1. Metabolizes.
2. Moves.
3. Responds.
4. Adapts.
5. Evolves.
6. Grows.
7. Homeostasis.
Panda is anything but a "good one."

There will be another Zelda game. But as he says, not in the same form as past Zelda games. You missed that part, I think.

But the problem is, the study doesn't take CD's into consideration. Only illegal sharing and legal downloading.
I'm not saying your logic is incorrect (or correct) but reading the "study" shows that it's not quite as general as the submitter believes.

It worked for me.
