  1. Re:so does this mean.... on Simulations Back Up Theory That Universe Is a Hologram · · Score: 1

I don't see how living in a simulation would be any different than not. Its still our universe and you are still the same you that struggles and eventually dies. If the universe is a simulation, it is still real to us. I actually kinda think being in a simulation would add meaning to life.

"Chinese customs officials must stop shipments of game copiers and other infringing products out of China" The problem is, all you need to copy games is a wii and an early edition of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Stop piracy by banning the legitimate product?

  4. Re:Details? on Clever Caller ID Tricks With VoIP · · Score: 1

"800 numbers always have access to your number, regardless of your "Caller ID" preference." Oh? dial the operator, or better yet the operator of another provider. "I am visually impaired, could you dial a number for me?" 7 times out of 10 they will dial your number for free and no caller ID or ANI will get your real number. This goes for 800 numbers, credit card company, or hey, even 911.

  5. Insane explanations. on Worst Explanation From Tech Support? · · Score: 1

I worked tech support in a local high school, and we often did work in classrooms. The students would try and bug us or the clueless faculty would try and input. Generally it would be something stupid like a cable not plugged in, but whenever one of the annoying kids or teachers asked us what we did, my stock answer was, "Well, I had to re-articulate the binary offset-singularity on the quantum magneto drive." Either that or "The RAM disk had bad sectors"

  6. Re:Martial Arts are effective weapons on Build Your Own Stun Gun · · Score: 1

Agreed with the AC. As a martial artist, I have found that in a real fight situation, Tae Kwon Do students and its lot (like american karate) tend to do much worse in actual fight situations than people with different styles or even no training at all. Tae Kwon Do tends to do not much more than make you overconfident. Take away te rules, and add real contact, and your training does very little for you. I agree that martial arts can be very good weapons....just not the ones that most people train in.

  8. Chrome Box on Traffic Light Control For The Masses · · Score: 1

I've been using this for years now. Take a normal strobe light, put a visable light filter on there, set it to 13Hz and tadaa. Green lights. You don't need the filter, but then people will wonder what on earth you are doing shooting a strobe light at the traffic signal.

  9. Symbols of the enemy. on Red Orchestra, UT2003 Mod, Released · · Score: 1

Something that has really been bothering me lately. I don't know about this mod, but in games and movies lately, there seems to be an obvious lack of Nazis. In games like Battlefield 1942, movies like Enemies at the Gate, and the Pianist, just to name a few, the Nazi foe has been reduced to nothing but German. You won't find them referred to as Nazis, or see a single swastika. In the Wolfenstein games, and older movies, you cant go two feet without seeing that broken cross, but now they opt for the Teutonic knights symbols, and the Falcon, avoiding labeling the German menace as Nazi's at all. In Battlefield 1942, they do the same with the symbol of the rising sun. Come to think of it, in my high-school history classes, when learning about world war two, I cant recall Nazi ever being said, and the death/labor camps only being mentioned in passing. No matter how offensive it is, it did happen, and we can't just forget it and act like Nazis never existed.
