I don't know about you, but my Windows systems have no spyware, are easy to maintain, reliable and virus free. The OS was included in the cost of the cheap desktop.
I thought it was about providing good software. If the only reason to use Linux and GPL software is to 'stick it to the man,' I'm going to use something else.
RPM checks the RPM database for packages that provide other libraries, simply having the library available does not allow you to install an RPM that requires it. The dependancies for an RPM are worked out the same way they are for debs. That is unless something has changed in the past few years, I haven't used a RPM based distro since Red Hat 7.3.
Just because all four sides are the same, does not mean that the statement that opposite sides are the same is incorrect, I have yet to see a definition that required 2 sides to be different then the other 2. A square is a rectangle, just a special one but you probably would have preferred the term quadrilateral or parallelogram. That is if we are really wanting to be pedantic about these things.
To get back on topic, video drivers are only one thing that is lacking on Linux distros as far as creating a good gaming platform, making this and the other 'gaming distros' somewhat silly.
The scalability of your washing machine is astounding. Can we get together over lunch and discuss the possibility of getting a washing machine solution here that scales as well?
I'm new to speaking Buzzword Bullshit. I swear that I'm going to end up killing my manager, though he is a good English to marketing translator.
Unless the OO.org dev team are clairvoyant iWork did not kill a native Aqua OO.org. iWork was announced last week, and there was speculation for a few weeks before that, but the blurb says that there was no work being done on the Aqua port for over a year. It also remains to be seen if iWork is any good.
Then use only one. I'm sure you don't use 90% of the drivers in the Linux kernel, or all of the protocols in the TCP/IP stack, or every single e-mail client that exists. All this does is give you the choice to use one that works for you. Need to see RSS feeds when you check your email? Fine. Want to see it when you use your IM client, ok no problem. Want to see it in a bar when you browse. Done. Want to see it on your desktop as you work. Then use it there. Just because you can use it in 143 different places, doesnt mean you have to.
'the class struggle necessarily leads to the dictatorship of the proletariat... In destroying the existing conditions of oppression by transferring all the means of labour to the productive labourer, and thereby compelling every able-bodied individual to work for a living, the
only basis for class rule and oppression would be removed. But before such a change could be effected a proletarian dictature [Fr. Dictatorship] would be necessary, and the first condition of that was a proletarian army' (Marx, Engels and Lenin, 1975).
Marx never intended for a ruling body that was above the people to exist. The hard rule was only one step in creating the Marxist workers paradise. After that was achived, the formal government was to be changed to one that was more loosely formed by the people. An all powerfull Stalinist type of government was a perversion of Marxist ideas and never tried to proceed past the initial setup towards the workers paradise.
Incidentally, I am saying this out of what I remember from high school social studies.
Don't confuse an economic system with a political one. A communist economics do not require a dictator any more then a dictatorship requires a communist economic policy. Marx idea of a communist state actually removed a great deal of any government system, it has just never been implimented that way beacause people like to have power over others which is not a very comunistic idea.
NASA likes those, it gives them a laugh. On the other hand, maybe the theories are right and NASA gets to sit back and be amazed at how many people they pulled one over on.
Funny that, since just about any system can ignore bad ram. I had a p2 that refused to recognize a 256 module that worked fine in another, just more of the evil Apple/Intel empire enforcing a certain amount of quality for their products I guess.
Games, TV, Movies, music, these are all put together as fantasies. As such the characters in them are also fantasy versions of real life. Simply having Lara Croft, the girls from DOA or any other feemale character with large boobs does not mean women are simply being objectified. That is something an individual does.
Not everyone goes overboard. I am slowly replacing green lights with blue leds and orange with red, because I don't like green or orange. Beige boxes I have I painted. Solid colours, a red one, purple, black, blue, they look a lot niceer now which is important because many of them are visable and I am around them most of the time I'm at home.
Not everyone who makes changes to their cases makes it look like they crapped all over it. These ram things look stupid though.
Yes I am. Every time I express my opinion to someone that the vast majority of people here suck, every last one of them has had trouble believing that I was born in Canada. Based on experience, assuming that someone would assume I am not Canadain is a safe assumption for me to make.
If you study in Canada, you'll have to deal with irritating Canadains and that could just really suck. A little more seriously, I envy you. I would much rather spend my time learning instead of dealing with a job but unfortunately, I don't think thats ever going to happen.

Maybe you need better admins.

They hooked him up to an IV to feed him?
They sold software.

That didn't even make me feel better.

Are you really complaining that you have a choice to use a RSS client where ever it works best for you?

That would have been better if you didn't include the link.
I would like to see some impractical guides to OS's. Maybe cover more of the stranger and unused parts.

Nope, looks like they were just teasing me while putting the new stuff up.
Parts of Apple.ca have been down for at least an hour, I think someone screwed up.
I really wanted to price out an iBook too.

Some people enjoy it, its not always about money.
Arn't you assuming that I am not in Canada. Irritation number one: Absolutly no sense of humour.
