When someone pointed out Red VS Blue to me, I rolled my eyes and thought yeah here we go some more people on the internet who think they are really funny and think everyone should know it. Red VS Blue turned out to be pretty damn funny actually I enjoyed it. I'd be willing to check something from them out.

Maybe Slashdot can pull off getting us one of thier famous interviews with a scientist working on this Mars mission? Maybe one of the project managers? Just a thought. I have no idea how hard that would be to pull off.

  6. Nice on First High-Res Color Photos from Mars · · Score: 1

The photos are great and interesting and I personally eat this stuff up whenever its released, but it always brings up the same question in my mind and I never can manage to dig up the answer. Does NASA release everything they have and toss it all on the table for all to see? Is it NASA policy that they release every single photo and piece of information they get about everything they do? Do they publicly say that they have the right to withhold certain things from public consumption? Obviously there are certain military things that would fall under national security, but speaking strickly space exploration and expecially these mars missions, do we get to see everything they get to see? I'm not talking conspiracy tin foil nonsense here. I'm just talking is it NASA policy and the way they do things.

  8. No on Documentary about Professional Gaming · · Score: 2, Insightful

I would say video gaming will never become as big of a spectator sport as the big main sports (NFL,NBA,NHL,MLB) because of one missing ingredient. That ingredient is the fans being emotionally attached to thier team and its players past and present because they are real people. When Brett Favre retires from football fans will feel emotional about it, some packer fans may even cry.

One time I helped put together a childrens jungle gym sorta deal. It came in a box about the size of a small Australian territory in about 367,894 seperate pieces. Being the men that we are and with the youngins watching in great awe we tossed the directions aside and dove in. After we finished we realized it looked like a scene from that movie "Labyrinth" and something was very very wrong. I picked up the directions finally and opened up to the first page and at the very top in really small print it said "Welcome back". Now I dont know if it was meant for another reason or it was the author being a smartass but it was damn funny at the time you had to be there I guess.

If this private commercial space travel industry really starts to take off in the coming years, I wonder how goverments will start responding to it. NASA isnt just about sending scientists up into space to see how frogs would do in zero gravity. Alot of thier work in space is directly linked to the US military and I can imagine theres some pretty top secret sensitive stuff happening up there. I can see some very big fights going on in the near future. Will goverments try to pull some kind of crap where they act like they own space and control who goes into it? I'm sure they can wrap it around something to do with possible terrorism and have it all nice and ready to go in time for The Patriot Act version 3.0.

The people who are to argue against the RIAA in this debate must stick to the real relevant issues. If they start babbling on about how music should be free and downloading whatever you want is a basic human right and needs to be liberated, coming off sounding like some retarded never had a job high school smuck, they are going to look really stupid and miss an opportunity to deal with the real issues. They need to talk about how the legnth of copyright has basically turned into eternity, how the RIAA tries to kill technology that threatens them financial, how they buy legislation in Washington to automatically treat everyone as if they were naturally criminally oriented and need to be protected from everyones naturally criminal oriented impulses to steal everything in sight. How they send goons out to find the best up and coming talent, and fill thier heads with a bunch of BS and get them to sell thier souls and sign on the dotted line. Of course the young kids in the band dont realize they just signed away rights to everything they ever do including thier band name. Of course they dont know they will have to have 2 or 3 major hit albums just to pay off what they owe to the record company and recording studio just to START making money for themselves. Stick to the real topics guys.
